Ok. After 2 days of use, first impressions: Easy to use, good speaker, good network coverage, good battery life so far still 50% after intensive use.
The music quality was a little better on n85 using the same headphones. That's surprising..and unexpected to say the least.
GarminMobileXT installs fine but there is no way of controlling so don't count on it.TomTom or any navigation software are not compatible with this phone yet. Also, all other s60 applications must be rewritten to support touch screen s60 devices so keep this in mind as I had a very unpleasant surprise.
Browser is difficult to use, full page mode is a pain to read and magnifier tool is not very user friendly. Stylus is to short. Camera is average but ok.
Overall a good phone but way to expensive. I payed almost 500 euros and I think it was 200-250euros too much.
Definitely not a power user device. No text editor in phone and nothing available yet.
My only real disappointment is the quality of the music player sound. I tried 3 headphones but no change. The sound has no high frequency and the equalizer has a top adjustment at 11khz. The Hi-Fi upper band is defined from 15khz up to 22khz. Ok, I wasn't expecting 22khz but at least 15khz.
If you are used to Ipod quality you will be very disappointed. Why in earth they name it EXPRESS MUSIC I don't understand.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Hi Sam11

I bought mine of ebay Australia for AUD$840 ( around $553 US Dollars on todays exchange rate ), it wasn't an Australia release as it hasn't been officially released here and I think it was a Hong Kong release, however it works here like any normal mobile.

I wouldn't know how much it is going to cost you guys. I guess you could always look around and see how much it is and see what your currency is like against other country currencies if you want to buy it overseas. Just look around matey.

Cheers

Craig

eddie, 12 Dec 2008does anyone know how the touch function compares to the Iphone? Because any touch phone that ... moreEddy,

I've got the iphone 3g and Ive use to have the Samsung Omnia touch and now I have the Nokia 5800, an I can tell you the Samsung Omnia touch screen was absolutley crap and not that very responsive.

The Nokia 5800 touch screen is very good, it's very responsive and you touch once to select app or twice touch to open app, which is really good as if you accidently bump the wrong app it wont open, unlike the iphone if you touch the app by accident it opens up and then you got to close it and re-select.

I can tell you, I was scared about the touch on the Nokia 5800 but im so glad i bought it now as the touch is just as good as the iphone.

I hope this helped you.

Craig

blackmood11, 12 Dec 2008to craig.., sir can u tell me how the music player works pls.., i read all your post regar... moreHi Blackmood,

The music player is great. I use my own earphones and the music comes through them very clear, crystal clear. I wouldn't say the sound is as loud as the iphone can go to, how ever we must remember iphone has ipod which is dedicated to providing good music sound.

The music coming through the earphones using the Nokia 5800 is quiet loud and nice, the base is good also.

I used the iphone for everything, now I"ll be using my Nokia 5800 for everything and it does way more then the iphone has.

The sound quality is nice and very loud throught the speakers if you don't have your earphones in.

Thanks

Craig
