Over 7000 votes in less than a month? Thats Insane. I saw some videos of it at mobile-review although its in russian. The UI is quite fast. Just like any recent symbian phone. Its quickly putting my touchscreen fears to rest.
Anonymous, 22 Oct 2008That wont happen because most phones dont have optical zoom. Besides, even with optical zoom a... morethen it means "good for us who understands picture quality" hehehe.. its sooo OK for me to consider this phone midrange when it comes to pricing. with wifi, document viewer, touchscreen, music player, accelerometer, GPS and still a midrange phone.. fine with me! i hope nokia doesnt realize this. =)
King Kong, 22 Oct 2008But it is useful to have a lot more than 3 mpix if you want to zoom in the picture and retain ... moreit is true for digital cameras.. not for cellphones with camera.. the lens to capture a really good picture would require space in the phone itself. plus it needs its own processors. have you seen a digital camera as thin as the iphone or omnia? yes, N95 is bulky, but remember the space would also contain the keypad, the mobile phone board and circuitry.. what im trying to say is, dont be fooled when a phone company tells you they have 8 or 10mp.. lens matter with pictures. even a digital camera with 12mp sometimes produces bad pics compared to 8mp DSLRs..
good picture = good lens + good processor
good lens = needs space
optical zoom is waaaaayyy better than digital zoom.
we can go on and on regarding the pic quality of pics taken from camera-phones, but i hope i made my point... that all of these megapixel wars is just a marketing strategy of phone makers (including camera makers).
if you still require 10mp, i am about to think you will print a lifesize picture of yourself.. peace.. im just kidding.
Jamal (The Ultimate), 22 Oct 2008Many of u have never seen a resolution higher than 3 megapixel in your lives. yes thats right.... moreVery well said. clap clap clap. I am anonymous. haha. in my haste to explain 'megapixel' my post had soooo many grammatical errors.. hahahaha. my apology.
for the java support.. i think it will support that. if what i understood of '+java downloadable' in the specs sheet is correct. plus it says 'java mid 2.0'. i need to research more on that.

Bigger megapixel numbers only mean bigger pictures. Unfortunately, most people use this to determine the price range of a phone. This phone has all the features of n95/n82 plus a few extras on top, but because it has a smaller camera, it is considered midrange.
i'm very interested in this phone!!..
wonder if E66 and N85 is better than 5800???...
Great phone for the price, but i still want 5Mpx and better video than this can do. I like functions and looks of N79 better.

Many of u have never seen a resolution higher than 3 megapixel in your lives. yes thats right. check the resolution of your monitor and thats the most you have ever seen. i bet its not higher than 3 megapixel. when u look at a 10 megapixel photo u are actually seeing the image in the resolution of the display. trust me i know these things. I have a PENTAX Otio A20, which is a 10 mp digital camera and i totally wasted my money buying it. if u edit the image & decrease the resolution to 2 megapixel. u will never see a difference. never. but if u decrease it to vga resolution u will see that difference, because it is less than the resolution of your display. u get it? its not resolution alone that makes an image look good. the lens and color tones and sensors and white balance and sharpness and autofocus and macromode has their part to play. ok. the reason for the increase in resolution is to capture more details in an image but read the first sentence i wrote one more time. cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
guys, this phone is a beauty....... i truly believe its a marvel, cant wait to get my hands on it!!
I could not aggree more! I just had to copy and paste what u wrote.
why? do you need to use the camera everyday? will you be buying the phone because of its camera only? my gosh, the fun has loads of great features and all you whine about is the camera being 3.2mp? it carl zeiss for pete's sake. megapixel pertains to picture size not picture quality. get a phone with 8mp and i'll give you a shot taken from a 4.0mp digital camera, let's see the different..
why are so many people so particular with camera? this is a phone not a digital cam. it is not made to accommodate lens that whould produce great pics. when iphone had a crappy camera, did anyone whined?
when you look for something that is isnt on the phone, ensure that you know what you are talking about. do your research please. it seems you're not into photography coz you dont know what megapixels are for.
@the some kinda anonymous.
The 5800 supports java? cool i will research on that!
