I went here to see if I could learn stuff about this phone. Instead, I see a lot of Nokia fans dissing the iphone instead.
I really don't think that this phone is better than the iphone. First of all, it uses resistive touch rather than capacitive like the iphone. Meaning, it would not be as responsive to your fingers as the iphone is, and it won't be as accurate either. Meaning, you will be using its stylus a lot. I don't know about the screen form either. It's too stretched. Also, the screen is made of plastic, not glass, so with the use of stylus, I can tell that it would be filled with scratches in a week of using it. I still think that it's a cool phone, but I just hope that Nokia fans would stop dissing the iphone because really, I can already tell that it won't be as awesome as the iphone =)
T, 03 Oct 2008no thank you... iphone copy!!!!!!!!iphone copy? this will finish iphone all together! without a doubt this phone is better then the cheap looking iphone!
By the way, here's Nokia's introduction to the 5800, it's a big press event, so take an hour out of your day to watch it.
looks great, specs read great, battery seems good so does screen. The guy in the video is probably not working for Nokia anymore,he does a double touch computer like, really hard pressing, then only one touch,so is touch screen non responsive or the guy learns as he goes, wich seems more likely. I'd like a full review on this new platform though.is it new music chip ?how do touch screen fare after a few falls ?The new Iphone 3G is crap people, sorry Apple fans, don't buy it,as sofwares disapear from it ,sound through cans are to cry and i put Bose cans on it ,battery gets so hot makes my skin red.So yes, could be interested in this one.
Anonymous, 03 Oct 2008just saw some vids of this device and it looks slow, you actually see the loading signal when ... moreThats because in some options you have to press twice like a normal windows, it is not a problem of the screen.
cek biji, 03 Oct 2008nice phone..... but very expensiveExpensive? It's going to be 279 euros! That's *CHEAP*
Anonymous, 03 Oct 2008No, it doesn't have a multitouch screen. Just a standard touchscreen.oh yeah, technically, it does not hav (oops, sorry my bad). but at least we can navigate d web browser with bare fingers or wipe gallery images ala iPhone or HTC Touch..
peace out =)
Man... people sound so dumb insisting on the "iphone-killer" thing... the iphone is not the ultimate phone... never was... there is already a bunch of phones better than iphone... Omnia, Renoir, Htc Touch HD and even the 5800... so just drop it already!
this phone looks pretty but its so familiar to x1 I dont know wich one is better !
Anonymous, 03 Oct 200881MB Internal Memory WHY WHY, it should have 4/8 gb minimum then upto 16gb memory card. neithe... moreWhy do you want internal memory when you can just *gasp* swap out the SD cards. Really though, a 16GB microSDHC card should be enough for just about anyone, that's all the space the iPhone has after all and you don't hear people complaining about that.
oh yeah!!! definitely my next phone! i was surprised when i saw d video previews, it has a multi-touch screen! hop nokia could still fine tune d swiping to make it look smoother. nevertheless, perfect phone for me. my dream phone now a reality, 3mpx AF camera with VGA 30fps video capture, TV out, wlan, 3.5mm jack, large high resolution touchscreen, inbox 8GB microSD, A-GPS, and superb battery, all at a reasonable price. cool (in other words - lupet) =)
