I compared a 5800 to the Samsung I5700 Galaxy, and I found that there are many things to have in mind to choose one of them, but no one of them has a big internal memory like a Nokia N900, but I think is a staff of use, It could be no important if you don't need instal a lot of apps... the Nokia 5800 is attractive about its price and quality...

kabute, 18 Mar 2010Any phone with many features will have problems if you put too much applications in it whether... moreHi, I agree and like your tips.
However I have been already landed in problems. Can you please suggest me what best i can do to make my phone work perfect while retaining all data intact (if at all possible)- especially 100% phonebook+calendar and any possible amount of images/songs/videos.

My problem statement (previously posted) is here. ----

    PROBLEM: Applications menu doesnt open.

WHAT I DID : I had installed many themes from OVI stores site (but not from any other sites) On setting one of the theme started srewing up many things & slowing down the phone. After restarting the phone, (usual trick of removing battery & memory card & then inserting the card) it started working fine, except WHEN I CLICKED THE APPLICATIONS MENU, it gave the error "MENU: Memory Full!, Please close some applications and try again" though i had not opened any applications. It seemed like consistent problem for me. Then i deleted all sms from phone memory to make around 43MB space free and Deleted most of the theme & downloaded app files from memory card (using file manager).

NOW, WHEN I CLICKED THE APPLICATIONS MENU, IT DOESNT GIVE ANY ERROR, BUT SIMPLY CLOSES THE MENU ITSELF AND GOES TO HOMESCREEN.

Now, i can use my phone only for call, music, camera. Also, there are some inconsistancy in the response - like sometimes recent call hostory doesnt show up, sometimes msg crashes, images gallery crash etc. I think al the probs due to same cause.

Being a app/games lover, I surely cant live with it. PLEASE SOMEONE WITHTHIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE SUGGEST ME IF "hard reset" Can SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

Or CAN SOMEONE SUGGEST A BETTER SOLUTION (I hate going to Nokia Care!!! coz they dont really Care!)

----PLEASE REPLY WITH A FEASIBLE SOLUTION. Thanks-----

Any phone with many features will have problems if you put too much applications in it whether symbian or android or windows. The trick is to uninstall never used applications to free up the operating software.
I used to have problems with my Nokia 5800 because I went to OVI store and downloaded almost anything I could find interesting. Bad move on my part, because it acted strangely, freezes, and gave me a lot of headaches. It is no different than a person's mind,
if you put too much to work with it will get confused.
So, lay off putting unecessary apps that you dont use
and it'll surely work the way it is suppose to work.'
      Peace to all.

How does one reload a Pre paid SIM card. After I dial the reload number on the dial keypad and the line connects, the dail keypad disappears, so I cannot input the PINs. At present I have to remove the SIM card put into a normal Nokia phone ie non touch screen, load and reinstall.

Nokia is a great company for mobiles they make the best quality phones, but unfortunatetly they always miss greate design, their phones are bulky and ugly looking to my opinion, i wish they make a andriod device. They are more prone to symbian which is never impressing for me

it is fine for me so far, but i cannot judge it accurately since I have not used it for a long period of time.

The camera - even though it is only 3.2 megapixels, it can definitely match up to my friends' 5 or 8.1 mp cameras, and sometimes even better. but there is a problem - when I want to take photos in "no flash" in low light, there will still be flash but just darkening of the picture. I could not mute the camera sound too. As a result, I have to download softwares into my phone to mute the sound.

Appearance - Although it is quite bulky compared to other brands, the design is very simple and smart.

                          It is very user-friendly too.

The music volume is very loud, although you could hear slight buzz. You will have to adjust the loudness and music settings to clear that, and it would sound clear.

It is bad sometimes as it freezes, but overall I would give it an 8/10 as it was better than the previous brands I had used.

MANI, 15 Mar 2010hi, i hv purchased N 5800, it has "MADE IN CHINA AUTHORIZED BY NOKIA CORP. FINLAND".... moreAs long as your 5800XM is running on a Symbian OS, you are sure to be using the original handset. The Nokia store sells handsets bearing "made in China under the authority of Nokia corporation, Finland" so you need not worry about the quality of the product because it is made up to standards all over the world. Made in China handsets are mostly distributed amongst the middle east and Asian markets.
