Hi. Finally, i bought 5800(as planned) this weekend.
First impression is certainly the best. Display is awesome. Music, video is good experience. overall- feeling good so far :-).
some questions/doubts though...
1)First thing i tried is TV out. but bit disappointed. I used a TV out cable which works with zune. but looks like it doesnt work & i see some waves running on the screen with a loud hissing sound. but sound alone works fine. what i hope is it just doesn't work with that cable.
2) Unlocking the screen to accept the call is bit annoying. coz, need to slide the unlock button on the side of the phone. & then tap "answer". I hope instead just pressing green button will be easy step to accept the call.
3)I got f/w updated to v4.05 and kinetic scrol works fine. but not so great compared to other phones like samsung touch scns, iphone etc.
4)sound quality is just good but not as good as my old favorite Nokia6233 which has amazing unmatched sound quality & loudness. I dont understand why Nokia could not continue using same speakers (as in 6233) even for such high end phone. Frankly, i still dont want to switch to new phone bcoz, i love 6233 that much!
5)Battery charge lasted just for 1 day with moderate use while i was just trying to get familiarized with 5800, but i hope that it will imprv gr8ly after few charge-discharge cycles.
6)I bought black one without realizing that all the menu items are colored just black-n-white! which is really boring. Now i feel i shouldve chosen red for atleast some charm(should admit that Nokia UI is really dull compared to other brand touchscreens). I have a doubt if i can download/ get some new themes & apply them without any problems?.im happy to get atleast the same default theme which comes in in Red colored phone. is it possible to get the same & apply?
7)GPS.- impressed abt the maps quality. hoever could not undesrand the real capabilities. Can it show the navigation/ i.e. when u r driving, does it show the location where u r driving along & with pointing out ur vehicles position? And what charges do aply for GPS navigation?(Airtel service, in India)
8)Want to buy a screen protection sticker(?) But they are asking Rs400 (india). is it that much costly?
9) would like to transfer all the contacts(necessary), gallery(preferable), sms(preferable) and Calendar entries(necessary) to this new phone from my old 6233. I like to do this without copying the contents to sim & change the sim to new phone etc. so, whats the best way i can do transfter all the contents?
10)like to have a digital compass s/w. where can i get it free? available in nokia store?
Any replies to above questions are really appreciated.
come on people please discuss or report more about firmware v40, i'll upgrade only after i'm sure the improvement is substantial
