Akash, 18 Dec 2009Hey Guys just heard about the new firmware v41.0.011... with kinetic scrolling.... pls let me ... moreYes that firmware v40xxxx does exist, i have see a video on youtube ones from a member name "nokia" but they deleted the video withing few hour.
I think nokia will not release that firmware for this phone now, and the reason is that the marketing problem, more than ten million(10,000,000) n5800xm users are, and they expect few million will move to n97, n97mini, x6 or n900 if they ignore us with firmware release, but there is one more thing, few month a go nokia&co say that they will develop similar to n900 flash v9.4 player for this mokia and they are not ready, or they think we are cheap and they are giving us to much, so they are angry with them self.
Well this days new technologies is releasing in market everyday, and if us n5800xm community fell left in darkness, than maybe we just have to move for droids or badas things??

5800 User, 19 Dec 2009I agree with on this. Nokia is known to enter the market cautiously with new features, I think... moreActually not just "cautiously"....They're being plain cheapskates at costs and surprisingly short sighted as the market leader. If we're to talk about CPUs,try tracing back the ARM 11 434 all the way till N86 and one has to wonder why Nokia insists on spreading the same chip up to the latest X6?And yes Sandipan's right on the money.People kept flaming the Symbian OS when it's actually the orig firmware maker's fault at messing things up.Not the OS' fault per se.AMOLED?Was on N86 before but what about newer models now?Did they move up to Cortex A8/TI OMAP3430?Yes they did (thank God -.-") for the N900 but when was that?Oh!Right after not 1,not 2 and not even 3 but more Snapdragon powered sets announcements making the news? And did this insistence to stay on ARM 11 really benefit batt use? No.Most 5800XM users here in Malaysia chucked the orig batt to some local/Chinese/Japanese made HIGH QUALITY,HIGH CAPACITY (close to double the orig) replacements. And no no one died from safety concerns etc.If 3rd party Chinese OEMs can make better and cheaper batts, what's Nokia's prob? This is Nokia we're talking about? Not some out of nowhere startup who'd have less access/less resources to insider infos/availability on current techs?Nokia's lucky that Samsung seems to share the same crap firmware and pricing's curse but that's just it.On everything else hardware-wise,Samsung's baying for blood (look at Omnia HD) at every aspect. And if Samsung ever figure out on how or what to fix on their side of things,we can say bb X6 (they're close to the knife.look at the announced launch price..) and even N900 Maemo or not sales-wise.N900's gonna get killed at price points if Nokia gets it wrong vs. Omnia HD because tweakers WILL rather go through the cooked ROM route.Less money spent will always be better regardless if Maemo beats Android and even if cooked ROMs are unstable.

Nokia is known to enter the market cautiously with new features, I think it would be a matter of time (1-2 years) and they will have solid smartphones, at the time being it seems that they are not taking the lead.

Guys,I do not know why , but i feel Nokia is experimenting the market with this 5800. I do know it has all the features you need , but when you can put such features in N97 with the same OS n the same CPU specifications , I think they should have put in a better effort into this. At least they should have build a stabler UI and made a better usage of the big display before releasing the fone. With the kinda patches they are releasing , I think the current users are their beta testers. It sucks to feel that way when you buy a handset. This phone has a lot of potential in it (same power under the hood as of N97), but it's them who are making it suck.I simply do not know why. Nokia needs to have better or rather friendlier market analysts or whoever who take these decisions. I wanted to buy this handset , but there are too many negative feedbacks(i went through the first 73 pages of User Opinions). My friend has one , n even his battery doesn't last longer than 1 1/2 days. I'm really skeptical guys. I never expected a phone to have the same specs as N97 , have so many negative feedbacks. Wanted to have the fone badly , but after all it's my hard earned buck that i'm going to invest so need think. Take Care Guys! and thank you for answering to my previous queries.
