Friends,I want to buy this handset. My question is - can this phone be used for intensive handling? Not rough usage ,but really intensive handling. I mean Since the day i buy my handset it never gets turned off , unless and until it crashes or the battery runs down. I need to consistently get to my mails (every 15 mins or so). I want to buy this handset only for it's hardware specifications(it has everything that I need at an affordable price). I can't opt for E71. My next option is E63, but it lacks HSDPA n GPS (my deal breakers). So guys who are using this handset , do you think that this handset can handle really tough and intensive handling , or does it needs to be treated like a baby?
I really need an answer to the question . My N70 gave what it had , it has started to squeak (have been using it for above 2 yrs), thus need to buy a set within 2 - 3 weeks.
Anonymous, 17 Dec 2009I really hate this phone.I upgraded from my 5310 which I love.Compared with the 5310 the 5800 ... morebasically this phone is okay.loud music good for people with hearing problems especially with the ring tones and message alerts, comfort in holding this phone is superb, nice looks, cool package deal.battery life is very good,i mean above excellent.screen resolution is extraordinarily clear.
keypads are not the best to text with.espacially when you'r driving (of course dont text and drive but in emergency cases it is to be considered),the picture is very good on some angles.when at night, the picture and the video sucks like hell.and i was so disappointed about the image it gets.even with the flash it still sucks.my 6300 takes much better picture.video playing is limited to only few formats.but overall,i would say that despite the camera, and the text input, its all okay for daily use.not for intense use though.
Nokia where is the new software update with kinetic scrolling.......
Its almost Xmas time...

I really hate this phone.I upgraded from my 5310 which I love.Compared with the 5310 the 5800 is slow, more difficult to manage, and it won't let you load apps.In fact it wouldn't even let me access my voice mail!
I was so looking forward to getting this phone but sadly after days I returned. On the plus side it's brilliant for listening to music!
Mark, 16 Dec 2009What about the SMS?Will it vry anoying?becaus of full touch screen?(mean its vry slow in typin... moreIt is more comfortable to type sms on 5800 than any other phones with keypad... try it then u will believe :)
sorry forgot to mention one more strange thing i found out is that the units relaeased after sep 2009 firmware shows v21 and when you try to update it shows no update is available.
the units release between jan and sep 2009 were good with all the accessories intact and also the camera sensor was really carl zeiss. but the units released after sep 2009 are fake, the box says carl zeiss but actually its the same sensor which is in 5530 xm.
i took photos from both the units and found out the difference. nokia now really are cheating the customers of this handset which used to be a good one.
if you really wanted a carl zeiss branded camera go for something like n86,n97 etc.
Ganesh..., 17 Dec 2009Hi!this is ganesh last 03 months back i was purchased this phone it is good, but as per my rev... more(1)Music volume isn't that low.In public places use headphones preferably of a renowned brand.
(2)Shorter data cables give better speed due to high SNR.
(3)Camera should perform better outdoors as lens aperture value is high F3.7
Aruna, 16 Dec 2009Too many Software problems..what's the problem ms.Aruna.
Key *#0000# into your phone's home screen.
Select Options > Check for updates.
Follow the on-screen prompts until your update is complete!
Hi!this is ganesh last 03 months back i was purchased this phone it is good, but as per my review
1).The input & output sound was very low.
2)Data cable was very short length.
3)camara clarity was not good as per 3.2MP.
so rest of all like video clarity, and data support etc was good and i like this phone.
jul, 16 Dec 2009yes i did ,i have converted mkv file to mp4 avc and leave to default and the resolution to 640... morealright if you are unable to fiddle with tvc, there are lot of converters like format factory which has in built settings for 5800, and most of the new phones. just google for it and install it. and the best thing is it is free... so you dont have to crack it like tvc. but all the files, mkv, avi, flv, wmv, all of them, played in 5800.
Frank, 16 Dec 2009Got a new 5800 battery only lasts 24 hours. All applications are shut down, Have i got a dogey... morehey frank, practically it should last at least 48 hours....with 5-6 hours of music over headphone just make the light senser option to the min, so the screen is bright only when it is required.
This Phone Is Really Nice, I Am Using It and found no problem at all. Hats Off to NOkia 5800 XM
