I have all these while been Nokia supporter until I bought the Nokia 5800 without TV out function.
The problem is not that they take away the function, its with the way they do it secretly and does not alert buyers. If we were alerted earlier, we would have a choice to choose another unit with similar feature.
For all my future handsets, I will go with Samsung, Apple, Sony or other brands, even though they are slightly more expensive!!!
I would not want my next Nokia unit which says has WiFi, GPS, Camera funcion, when bought home has the function disabled.
On the TV-OUT function, its not about how good or how bad is the feature. Its about how UNETHICAL nokia is cheating on us.
What if one day Nokia takes away the WiFi feature , paste a sticker on the box saying this feature is not available. People who buys the units are not aware of this. Nokia does this quietly and doesn't inform people clearly.
After buyers got the unit home, we are not allowed to return the unit.
This is exactly what Nokia does with the TV out feature.
ccask, 31 Oct 2009Hi. does any dirt go inside the screen? am keen on buying this phone. and please let me know t... moreany by the way does the back cover rubber come off like most of the phone do... after all the heat and sweat?
Hi. does any dirt go inside the screen? am keen on buying this phone. and please let me know the price of this phone in kolkata. also what is included with the phone package
I just found out something while I was playing
with an iPhone with a capacitive screen, you can
not use the phone with capacitive screen in ONE
handed operation, not like the 5800XM. On capacitive
screen, you need one hand to hold the phone, and
the other hand to do the selection. On resistive
screen like 5800XM, you just use your thumbnail
to operate the phone in ONE hand. For that, in my
own experience, I think resistive screen is much
better choice for ONE handed operation...
I have updated my 5800 to version 31, but that does not solve the tv out prob. The guys at nokia appear clueless about the issue
first tv out feature nt suported in sep 5800 but oct 5800 work wel
Secound scrach card scheem nokia gave min cash back rs 200 nt complemantary app or gift
mine is V21.0.025 ... there r no new updates for my product code..will ther b any in the future??cos already V31 has been released for other product codes..im tired with the cam's performance...
All guys complaining about the tv out feature just try to update the firmware to the one that is there in the oct 2009 and see if it solves the problem.. Because why would nokia take the pain of releasing 2 variants of the same phone ..

Why all of you, people, worry so much about TV-out function? Probably you never saw what a bad picture quality it has!!!
I bought my phone in August for the reduced price with limited accessories (no tv cable, no case, no stand,no extra stylus). I wondered first how good the tv function will work, and YES, I expected to use my phone as a portable video player (I imagined, I would go to friends, connect the phone to a tv and we'll enjoy movies together).
Then I borrowed the TV out cable from one of my friends who never used it, and guess what? T got so much disappointed. The picture on a TVset came out so pixalated, with so low resolution that it was almost impossible to watch something.
Please, STOP talking bull..it, and discuss who's got the TV out and who hasn't!!! Believe me, this function is not worthy even the time you spend to type your complain!
Don't imagine something and then get disappointed that your dream didn't come true!
