Anonymous, 01 Jan 19705800 is better than w960. 5800 over w960: You get rich retail package, the diplay is bigger and amazing, faster performance, more responsive touchscreen, longer battery life, better sound quality, better build quality, more pocket friendly, you can play youtube directly from default browser and etc etc..I had w960 before 5800 so that i can tell you the differences. My major complain about w960 is its very slow performance and not responsive touchscreen. Looks cheap too.
eshaan , 11 Sep 2009I would think mobile sites would have more inside news that a person who claims a close friend... moreJust think about it dude ... the 5800 is now available for Rs. 13500 in India (minus the cover, extra stylus, stand, TV-out). The 5530 will be launched at approximately the same price next month ... now lets assume the 5800 gets kinetic scrolling and homescreen updated via a "one-firmware-fits-all-Nokia touchphones" update as per your sources ...
Barring the slimmer size and better looks (subjective), there is nothing going for the 5530 ... you miss out on 4 GB extra memory, you get a smaller screen, no GPS, no 3G (which will be very very very active next year in India) ... the 5530 would be a monumental disaster.
It's a bitter pill to swallow man ... your 5800 ain't gonna get what you're dreaming of.
Yeah, since this phone is selling so well as it is, I realy doubt Nokia will risk affecting sales of other phones. I personally donŽt even mind not having kinectic...but ,come on, the main screen should AT LEAST allow more (maybe even all) contacts by conventional scrolling or by filling up all the void. Limiting it to four contacts is simply absurd. Other links on the main screen would be welcome too, but IŽd be happy w more contacts. Anyways..sigh
sam, 11 Sep 2009guys how is the visibility of 5800 in sunlight?it obsorbs light it doesn't reflect it
but the light sensor is ok it gets pretty bright so it's more visible but it's plastic so it can't be helpe but i can see what i'm doing at 12-3 pm sunlight and that's the bright point of the day
Regarding the Nokia Ovi Suite video which seems to have triggered off this rumor ... the animation shows upgrade from "v15.0.015" to "v31.0.015" ... both of which are N95 firmware versions and were used as examples in the video .......
So please ... DO NOT EXPECT ANY SUCH UPGRADE for the 5800 XpressMusic handset ... I repeat ... the 5800 will NOT GET the kinetic scrolling or updated homescreen like the 5530 ... so as to avoid disasterous sales for the 5530.
Does anyone know the average life span of RESISTIVE TOUCH SCREENS that are presenlty used in nokia 5800 XM?
I heard that its not going to last even 2 yrs full?
Before that it will start creating problem or it will become dead...
Is it true guys?
thanx in advance..

There is a forum...dailymobile forum, There is a nokia worker over there who had given correct info to us regarding the ver30 upgrade too. And even he confirmed the kinetic scrolling. So believe what you want to. And even thinkdigit have said it will come for all the phones!

one has n96 the other n95 8gb and me 5800 and their all the same
how to identify whether the set is original or not?
thanks for sharing..
Most people got confused with two different variants of 5800....Current 5800 doesn't have TVout, packing is new, they have removed tvout chip from phone.....apart from that all features are same.......
Any one have already got the new 5800(low cost variant) plzz share your experience with its performance....Is there any other feature which is not available n how is the performance as compared to previous 5800...

Many sites have reported that it be coming.
Rishabh, 11 Sep 2009dude but the sales package contents of the 13+K version are nothin as compared to 17k onei agree but then consider this: how many are really interested in spending 3.5k over a set of additional accessories.. isn't the current package providing a better value-for-money?
CLARIFICATION, 11 Sep 2009Hey guys, my close friend works in Nokia and based on my discussion with him regarding the Nok... morehmmm... makes sense. it wld make the 5530 useless, except for the design.
Hey guys, my close friend works in Nokia and based on my discussion with him regarding the Nokia 5800, I would like to clarify something important (you can treat this as almost official):
Nokia has NO PLANS of providing kinetic scrolling and updated homescreen on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset. The rumors on the internet about an impending Firmware update (to version V31***) are untrue. Please note that the Ovi Store demo showing the V31*** was JUST AN EXAMPLE.
