kkl, 31 Oct 2011I have been getting the same problem for over a year. I had about 12 random restarts a day. So... moreis your 5800 one of the first batches or models? It seems like the lcd display is about to go bad or malfunction. The symptoms my 5800 had were random restarts and vertical and horizontal lines on the lcd display.
The later or newer models of the 5800 are better so don't be discourage by this smartphone.

Alarm is the only source to switch on the handset. Otherwise Nokia 5800 is good one with CFW Photon C6-v40.

After warranty those restarts are not so common now. Only 1 restart in two days. I am much happier.
Now the only problem is GPS, it is very horrible. Year ago I was waiting 30 minutes in an open sky and couldn't wait GPS to work. In other times, but still rarely it found GPS location in 5-10 minutes.
Strange device. If you want a nice screen, memory, processing power, camera, stability, GPS then buy a different phone, or buy different gadgets.

i have no issue on v60, actually i hacked it. everything is smooth and stable. i love the new firmware, the browser is extremely fast, more battery life. i love nokia 5800 hhehehe

i've updated to v60... to me its not stable...it also will eat your c: drive whenever you browse the internet via the new web browser.. i'll come back later to explain..

vicky, 29 Oct 2011my phone has been having the screen of death.is it a common thingyup, the screen of death is a common thing for the first batches or models of the the 5800.
Mine is also doing that. Just replace the lcd display.
