But there is an option in... moreYeah, i read about that, a week ago i went to the store to check new stff, their was Nokia 5.3 too, i really did not see the blue tint. But i won't discuss about it as everyone sees differently, so it might actually have one.
Yes of course emmc is slower, the question is tough, would an ufs make a worthy difference in this device, or other devices that use SD665. Maybe would do, but maybe would be a very small let's say, millisecond one, something that would not be price worthy. I don't know, i used flagships with UFS and emmc and i really saw little difference. In the pc world ssd against hdd make a whole lot of difference, but here we are talking about same tech just different arkitekture to make them respond faster.

Colors have a heavy blue shift.
But there is an option in android 10 to adjust the color temperature (warm/cold). On neutral it is bad.
emmc 5.1 is slower but ok for cost cutting.
Other than this everything looks fine.
I dont mind 720p screen (which means less power consumption-more for productivity)
I dont mind no QC or PD ( I always use 5V1A charger so the battery life will last longer- tested with my daily phone sony xz1 compact still 96% battery health even after almost 3 years of usage)
but why is this phone still use emmc???
is emmc 5.1 is superior to ufs?
and why is it still use bluetooth 4.2?? its a snapdragon 665,,,
at this point I am wondering does this phone even use at least LPDDR4X for its RAM?
IMO a phone that release at april 2020 with price tag of $200. We the consumer should get way better specs, i guess??
How to change icon style and color? Where is that option on dw mode?
Hilmawan, 07 Jul 2020I have explained many times that it doesn't matter if you want to buy cheap or expensive ... more1. No device in this price range that's worth mentioned uses ufs memory, if 270€ is for you: the same price range, you need to repair your human estimate calculator, is defect. Anyway, do you even know the difference? And how would that affect a low range smartphone? Now let's talk about chinaware... i'd buy a Nokia anyday now, it uses hardware components from 1st or 2nd class production batches then chinaware that uses 3d class production batches, to make them as cheap as posible but still sound like they are any good, on paper.
2. Gorilla glass? I hope you are joking. If they can cut corners here, to use a better CPU on a lower midranger, by god i am pleased with that, it is actually the only thing that makes no difference if it's 3 4 or 5. Obsolutely none to be effective in real life situations. Glass is glass and the number ain't counting, it brakes. So, a high applouse for them, for using their brains , after all, they support this devices for 3 years.
3. Smaller image sensor then what? Then others in this price range? Or you again invented a standard that nobody knows about?
4. Oh this one is good, it actually shows how you copy paste and have no understanding. Most of the snapdragon CPU's have LTE modem integrated, in fact, i do not know to many that don't. Snapdragon 665 has an x12 modem builded. I am pretty sure they do not modify their architecture for HMD to make them look bad, nor for others to make them look good. Yet another half backed fake claim from the master of know it all...i mean nothing. Anyway, here is a lot to talk about, way to much for a person to just make a statement like: oh slow modem... when he has no idea what that even means, if you read in news, does not mean you know how it works.
Unstable Wireless? What that even mean? The only problem i had with wlan, was after android 10 upgrade some SoHo devices were not able to do a proper authentification, henche not letting the device inside the network. This problem came mostly with Telekom speedport SoHo, after Telekom updated their devices, the problem was gone. As my whole family owns Nokia and a small part samesung, i can pretty much say, your claim is well... again false, inaccurate and based on hate!
5. Low resolution, i can understand, yeah, at this price they needed to cut corners further, a lot of other brand do this too, even your mi3a crapp. Poor calibration? Again, what?... have you discovered another standard that nobody knows about? Is good you can throw words into the mix, words you most probably have problems to understand.
6. It might not make use of the so called quick charging protocol but at charges at 10watts, so double to power of a normal aged charger. Here is again anouther missleading b'''it from you, not that their is something you say, that ain't. Again, a lot to talk about, from who has qc in this price range, to how it is used, to how fast actually charges and why will it matter. Every company tries to balance their devices to be good enough for the user but also worth to build for the company, they all need profit to stay on the market. Of course i am not talking about chinaware, as their only problem would be how to copy paste.
So again just throwing words into the mix to make it more dramatic it just shows what you're made of. As for blind, i really am wandering why gsmarena still let's you post in, but let's say i call you back, not blind, would be too nice.
Carol, 06 Jul 2020I keep spewing nonsense? More like you don't understand what i am "spewing" and... moreI have explained many times that it doesn't matter if you want to buy cheap or expensive cellphones, other brands provide better phones than Nokia.
If you are too blind to realize that Nokia is using a lower grade components, i'll point out a few of them for you.
1. Nokia 5 still uses eMMC memory while other phones with similar price range already use faster UFS memory.
2. Gorilla Glass 3 while other use at least Gorilla Glass 5.
3. Smaller image sensor (i'm not talking about resolution/MP but the actual size of the sensor).
4. Slow LTE Modem and unstable WLAN.
5. Low resolution display with poor calibration.
6. No QC or PD charging support.

So stop bringing people in confusion, again, with half-backed information.
Does this device charge properly?? Does someone have a charging test video, and audio from earpiece audible or not? I want to buy a nokia. My last nokia device cannot charge anymore even after repair. But still I want to buy a nokia. Because I love nokia.
Hilmawan, 06 Jul 2020Why you keep spewing nonsense? If you are not in the Apple ecosystem, then Apple phones ar... moreI keep spewing nonsense? More like you don't understand what i am "spewing" and pretty much ignore everything. Even in your rating agenda, you just keep on ignoring everything but the part that might make this device look bad. Pretty "subtle" from somebody who thinks that he manages to be subjectiv. Anyway, to compare a device that is almost 100€ more expensive then this one and saying: oh don't buy this subpar, bla bla. That is spewing nonsense! As for me, i buy in generarly flagships because i like fast, very fast. In the same time i know the cheapper the device is, the lesser it's components woth so i do not expect gold for penuts. So, i recomand people devices that do them good and every device i bought in my family or recomanded never once failed. Funny part, i once did not recomand sam A50 but that person still bought it, well it died after 6 mounths, well was not the "phones" fault because the screen broke, but for sure is the quality that made the screen dead. Never had a broken glass that destroyed the screen from such low distance fall, rendering it useless and more expensive to repair then buying a new device, as the person actually did and now ownes a nokia 6.2, and he/she just told me he/she's happy with it, especially with the fact that the device throws no adds anymore. Not everybody needs a flagship and not everybody has or wants to throw money on expensive devices, and for them, this device is great. Now, with your components, HMD is using low quality components? You're kidding, right? I mean take a better look at chinaware, you might be aware that cheap has a reason, but you're probably not, as you're presence here is made for trolling and not discussing.
Noteworthy is the fact that the Nokia 5.3 doesn't support VoLTE. In fact none of the Nokia budget phones does. You need at least a Nokia 7.1 in order to make calls over that protocol.
Check with your phone company as to whether or not they intend to continue support for 2G before purchasing any budget phone regardless of make and model.
Carol, 05 Jul 2020Instead of buying a subpar moto better put more money and buy an Iphone 11. Your comments are ... moreWhy you keep spewing nonsense?
If you are not in the Apple ecosystem, then Apple phones are not a better choice and will only make your life difficult for example, on the iPhone 11 there is an NFC but it can only be used on Apple services.
I always say Google Pixel is the best phone for people who want stock and long support don't waste your money on any Android One phones.
Nokia 5.3 is subpar not only because it got lower rating than other phones with similar price range from most well known tech sites but also because lower grade components.
It has been more than 3 years since Nokia first launched an Android phone (Nokia 6) but they still have not been able to gain significant market share they can't even be top 3 in their own country Finland.
According to StatCounter in Europe even Sony with only 1.36% has more market share than Nokia with 0.89% even though Sony phones are usually more expensive (FYI : in Japan most people prefer iPhone but Sony still the #2)
The use of lower grade components should be able to make you realize that Nokia phones are not as good as phones from other brands plus the fact that Europeans are reluctant to choose nokia phones.
Prett, 04 Jul 2020With the same price? Hey money talksAround $208 if converted to USD.

Your comments are as subpar as you want this device to be. The difference is, this device is not. This device is made to be cheaper then, let's say. Moto roto. So it has its goods and bad's like moto and like any other company. At this price range, this device is great. And was called great many times and by many peoples, and users. Not just once and not by some wannabe.
Lepr, 05 Jul 2020Great value for money. Bad GpS (at least works well in the open) and screen, but great battery... moreIt's funny you try to compare prices but don't compare the specifications and features, the extra money you need to spend to buy Moto G Pro will be far more valuable than having to buy a subpar phone like Nokia 5.3 at cheaper price.
You'll get better multimedia experiences from Moto G Pro because it has higher resolution display, with stereo speakers tuned by Dolby and bluetooth 5.0 for better connection with TWS.
Moto G Pro also has bigger image sensor, 128GB of internal storage, better protection againts water damage, faster chargjng, more GPS support and some more.
So for people who like to use their phone for more than 2 years Moto G Pro is a better choice even though it is more expensive.
Great value for money. Bad GpS (at least works well in the open) and screen, but great battery and software. If u compare Moto g pro (270 EUR) and this one (170 eur), the winner is undoubtedly Finnish.
Carol, 05 Jun 2020Yeah, because they can't fake the results, right? I mean it is not like you see they actually ... moreLol what a closed minded fanboy you are Notebookcheck is German based tech site and they do their tests with scientific methods and industry standard tools not just based on personal opinion like many nokia fanboys.
If you think they are giving incorrect information you can prove them wrong by conducting tests using the same methods and tools.
For example for GPS test they compare the phone gps with Garmin Edge 500 professional navigation device on a short bike tour.
Anyone who has an open mind will be able to clearly see that nokia phones are not as good as korean or chinese phones, even the majority of the people of finland prefer android phones from korean and chinese brands.
Only closed minded fanboy like you who don't want to accept the facts.
bert, 22 Jun 2020I agree with people saying this seems a bit overpriced compared to the Mi A3 (I own a Mi A2). ... moreIf you need NFC and Android One both Motorola One Action and Vision are significantly better option than Nokia 5.3.
Carol, 04 Jul 2020Best bang for buck hands down. This is terrible compared to moto g8power lite it doesn't even have 4k video and the Motorola does
No compass / magnetic sensor, all GPS related apps will be useless, because we will not know which direction is.
