Set it to 10 seconds and switch off screen on when release and enable when screen is locked options. After this the screen blank issue in calls will go away.

When calling on whatsapp, for few seconds the app gets hanged and then suddenly the timer of call goes from 1 sec to 7 secs. As soon as I make call or recieve a call, the screen goes black. Its really shitty. I didnt talk to nokia care I just used Proximity Sensor Screen off (pocket mode) app by argon Dev. It has green colour icon. My screen black issue has now gone atleast with this jugaad fix.

Did you play any heavy games or anything for i... moreI don`t play games, I use the phone for calls, messages, taxi app, viber, anydesk, some wifi network related apps and remote terminal. Don`t have any bloatware stuff. Phone gets hot in pocket doing nothing, like really hot.

This phone is ideal for me it checks all the boxes I want in a phone I only wish the radio would be one with a built in antenna like Nokia 5300 but this phone is excellent for my duties and my needs

For me it runs fine occasinaly gets hot, but no overheating..
Only problem so far is it's rather big size and the macro camera is very bad, they should have avoided it.

Anon301, 03 Jul 2021Has anyone had any overheating issues with the 5.3 ?Yea just added to the list of what is wrong with the phone as soon as it got hot.
Now I have proxy sensor problem, poor WiFi AP speed, phone overheating, white ghosting on screen after text was displayed for server seconds, during a call sometimes can not hear other side, it drops in and out randomly.
Still good things remaining are, it looks good, battery life is good, photos with Gcam are serviceable, better then stock for sure.
This is my last Nokia phone, waiting for Pixel 5a to drop.

Nokia 5.3 is a worst smart phone i have ever used. It is not writing with frustration. It have lot of patience, waited till last 5 months. now nokia support is telling us to go to nokia care and show the issue physically. Nokia did not learn a lesson after disaster from feature phones. It is not interested to serve the loyal customers. I bought Nokia, because of stability and loyalty towards the brand. it doesn't deserve it. Nokia may close this company again, if it is not working hard to retain customers. It is not developing new phone models with cheap rates. It should be worth it. I have several issues with the software, one of the annoying issues is WhatsApp voice calls don't work for few seconds at the beginning of the calls. Other issues like screen blank out during calls, screenshot settings are not proper. there is no back button to come back in certain screen.

i used nokia 5.3 for 10 months and i was highly disappointed. the phone cost is 16499 rupees when i bought. i thought there could be many features like other phones in the market with same cost. but no, nothing in this phone. even hmd global dont have answer why did they released with that much high cost. it could be better if they sell it for below 10000 price range. there are many issues with this one.
1. low battery capacity at this price range
2. discharges very fast, i just use 8hours a day.
3.phone gets hang when playing
4.when some one calls me and i take phone it just sleeps and i should pull it so it gets display.
5. noisy speakers, loud noise comes from spekers when listening songs
6. no inbuilt game or app launcher.
7. the phone hotspot connects to other mobiles smoothly but not for laptops.
8. finger print sensor is very low in detecting and makes me type password every time.
9. i can not arrange apps on my own it is default in a alphabetical order
10. i can not hide my apps.
so this is one of the worst phones i never used. i thought i will be better as they are selling it for high price. even this phone doesnt get atleast 3000 rupees on exchange.
and last no android 11 update for this. is it a orphan phone or what?
