TFT: Thin Film Transistor
CSTN: Color Super-twist Nematic
To learn more about phone screens you can also check out this link:
Let me be frank with you, AVOID all CSTN screens period! This is a weaker and cheaper technology compared to TFT.
Phones which implements CSTN technology in their screens are very slow. Slow response time when accessing the menu, dialing a number (especially from the SIM Card) and just doing general activities within the phone. To make matters worse CSTN screens are illegible in the sun. When you are in the sun you won't be able to make out anything on the screen UNLESS you have bionic eyes.
TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology blows away STN/CSTN technology by a wide margin. First of all, the reaction time in which items are displayed on a TFT screen is much faster...reason being TFT has built in circuitry in the screen so it doesn't have to draw and redraw each image/text. Secondly everything seen on a TFT screen is clearer and thirdly you can make out pictures and text clearly enough even in the scorching sun.
As you can see, the TFT has some vast improvements over CSTN, BUT one advantage that CSTN has over TFT is less power consumption so your cell battery will last longer if that cell phone has a CSTN screen.
CSTN phones are cheaper as well that's why you are bound to find the lower-end colour phones with a CSTN display.
Stick with TFT if you want first class quality.
OK Nokia Folks, stop this right now and go back to the greatest phones on earth, PLEASE!!! First of all explain us ALL why do you think this is better than a 6310i? Second, you Nokia Designers... haven´t you realize that with all the ridiculous features you are puting in the devices you are taking back one of the greatest thing nokia use to have: Battery life. Yes, remember the time where you use to charge your battery only once every 12/15 days... I do, and miss it!!! 4exaple: design a new 6310i, add a memory slot, NO CAMERA, keep the design, KEEP THE Monocromathic display, why do you need a colour display on your phone for? Would be could that you add a music player, but there is no need for a color display if you use your phone to communicate & entretaiment could be satisfy by an Mp3 player... Mobile Games: Gameboy... Mobile Music: Ipood, Camera: Lumix, Mobile Phone: 6310i, I would appreciate that users stick to their needs: a reliable mobile phone, not a fancy one... Best Regrads, André Vondran QA Engineer
Whats the difference between TFT display and CSTN and is there any other display too and is these displays futher categorize
I got this fone several days ago. It is a nice piece except the photo quality.
This is the very phone iam looking for, it has every thing except Bluetooth, the main feature is that it has a Usb connectivity. And it has EDGE technology. Every one should try this once. Bye...
This is exactly the look I've been waiting for at a phone.I did not have the opportunity(yet)to hold it in my hand and see it inside, but I already read all about it.I saw it for real and I love it.From what I know it's a 6070 with TFT display,but it's still a better style.What can I say?It's the best for my needs.
it is very good phone set.good sound & battery time and every thing very very good.
then that's a real difference compared to 6070, which is really a great phone, but the display is really a bad one...
6080 is very nice cell phone.price is also reasonable.But disign is same like 6070.
does this phone has TFT display or is it CSTN lik on Nokia 6070? If it has TFT then it's a huge difference, since the one on 6070 is very, very bad...
6080 = 6070
6080 = 6030 with IrDA
6080 = 6020 with FM Radio
6080 = 3200
6080 = 7210
6080 = F*ck Nokia, always launch a new model with the same or old features and more expensive price also.
this fone has nothing except NOkia name other phones r available in much cheaper cost & with more functionality e.g SE K310i & SE k510i much cheaper than this 6080crab.
6080 plus points.
1. it holds Nokia brand
2. fm sterio radio
3. Edge (fast gprs)
6080 minus points.
1. high priced compare to others
2. battery last for one & half day
3. camera quality sucks
4. video for 10 seconds
5. no call recording
6. only 3-4mb free memory (what u do with camera to take snap or movie with 4 mb free)
SAR rating for 6080: 0.84 w/kg
you can have more functionallity in less cost & great quality with sony ericsson K310i:

get k310i instead of this for more functionality... u wont regret...
Hi! I got this phone on 5.12.2006 and I am very satisfied and pleased with it. It is very good phone. The display is TFT and is very good. I don't need a multimedia phone. I only wished that the phone has basic VGA camera and radio. These requirements are fullfilled in this phone. Camera is good and pictures are good. Radio is very good and the headphones that are included in the package are very good too.
I like this phone a lot!
