To LUIS:
Funny enough I have used my phone while charging and it never overheated. Just felt a bit warm due to the fact that it was charging.
Also, believe it or not, there are times the phone feels cold during charging. Heat is certainly not an issue with my phone.
To OJ:
Thanks for the your quick answer and yes when she had that problem she said that the phone was so warm that she needed to plug h headphones, but that happened only once. she doesn't have heating problems anymore. I think she had that problem with her 6300 because:
1.-She was talking while she was charging the phone, and I think its more common to heat in this condition because the phone had plugged the charger.
2.- Because it was only 1 day after she bought it and I think the battery needs some charge/discharge cycles to function properly.
But I'll be supervising the phone behvior for some days if it heats again.
To LUIS:
There's a lot of controversy about this phone. Most of them being about short battery life and the other major complaint is about overheating.
I don't experience either of these problems with my 6300.
No matter how much I use my phone or how long I'm on a call, my phone doesn't get hot. Of course it gets a bit warm when used for long periods which is normal for any phone.
Nokia would NOT make a phone to burn people. However, if your girlfriend experience overheating to the point where she can't hold the phone, then more than likely her 6300 is defective and she needs to return it.
To OJ:
Yeah it is a perfect phone with very normal looks but high end equippment even in these days.
And what about your 6300?? Isn't giving you some problems?? I asked you that question because my girlfriend bought this phone (I recommended her this over the 5300, the phone she wanted before she saw that beauty)and she is very happy with it, she has no complain about her 6300 but someday when she was talking while charging the phone, it started to heat after like 15 minutes of call. Is that normal??
this is the reason why nokia is nokia...is the solid base of nokia...this and the 8310..cheers
To LUIS:
CNET and many other official reviewers said the same thing. The 6230 can easily be underestimated because of it's simply looks. CNET went on to say that Nokia spared no expensive on the 6230. They loaded it with all the possible high end features in it's time.
To Dani:
Believe me, I was very skeptical to sold my 6230 but I have bought the 5700 two weeks before and I can´t hold two phones. It would be unfair for the 6230 to have it in the box. But I´m not so happy with the 5700 because the paint on the C and menu keys started to peel off. But for the rest it´s ok and I´m starting to like it more.
PD: IT´S GOING TO BE VERY HARD (IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE) TO FIND A PHONE THAT CAN BEAT SOME DAY MY 6230, my 5700 isn´t even near (first it needs to survive at least a year). These are my words about 6230: A phone that seems "inoffensive´´ but inside its elegant body there is an unbeatable beast
@luis
trust me, you will regret selling the 6230 i still regret selling my 6230 after 2 years, i sold it 2 years ago to my uncle! and im still regretting selling it 2 years on!
the 6230 was really that good!
i miss it
now i got a W850i as you know
which is reminds me of 6230
It's very hard to say goodbye to my bes mobile ever:6230 (Isold it on January 28th)but finally I bought a 5700 and it's great but isn't so durablev(the paint on menu and c keys started to peel off) but is't a big letdown for me. As my last comment: nokia forever and I will remember this phone for the rest o my life as a revolutionary one, looking very business like but very user friendly and entertaining.
this Phone is still a Legend
hiya does anyone know how to delete settings from connection settings?????? please let me no asap.... thanx in advance
It will work abroad depending on the network you want to use it with. The 6230 is Triband. The European version have a 900/1800 frequency band while the American version (known as 6230b) have a 850/1900 frequency band. You need to find a provider supporting the frequency based on the version 6230 that you have.
does nokia 6230 work abroad
can sum1 rply bak very ungernt
The 6230 was released in April 2004...4 years ago. Back in it's time it was the very best and it still poses a challenge for many new phones up to now.
This is the best phone by Nokia...ever
It has everything...only wish it had a good res snapper and a flash.
The phone has some good design parameters.
The panels are resistant to wear and tear too.
After this one,i really do not want to buy anything else

Probably the best phone of all the time. I had years of fun and 'connecting' with it. It still lives on, whether in our pockets or minds.
