I upgrade my 6230 firmware at Nokia Service Center... it should take ~1hr only. It was an upgrade from 4.43 to 5.35.
My wife's 6230 is still running on ver4.28. On ver5.35, other than different menu structure, one obvious difference is MUCH BETTER STABILITY in terms of bluetooth use, huge file transfer and using MMC as default folder for voice recorder and camera.
Just go to the nearest Nokia Center.
Where can i download the latest n6230 firmware?i need badly?
best phone i have used have had it for 14 months now and cannot fault it one bit battery life excellent and so are all the features u get on it what more can u ask for a phone a classic and one of the best ever
how long will this battery hold if i use the phone for atleast 4-5 hrs a day?i want a very efficient battery....i can never get my hands(or ears) off the phone!
I like my 6230 fine, not sure about the battery life, lasts good with just the fone, but the goodies not so good,I am having trouble with it freezing up using bluetooth headset, any ideas have to turn the fone off then back on. ok for a while.
it has poor battery life. i bought mine last week and im selling it already bcuz i never liked its performance.i even bought extra battery for it.
about the echoing noises your talking about, i never experienced any echo with the 6230 or any other nokia phone, until i got the 7610 (great fone) and this thing echoes like 2 seconds after you speak and then, by then the other person says "hello you there" by the time your voice is heard the other end its annoying but thats with a nokia 7610 not a 6230. im getting the 8800 as soon as its out and the 6230i soon and i will post about this echoing issue regarding them models.
Hi,all. Somebody could you please send me webaddress of 6230 latest (i think it should be 5.35) firmware download?
no echo problem at all! i bought my 6230 last may and still works great!!!!
Hi,i was thinking about buying this phone Nokia 6230...is there anyone experiencing problems with the phone.Does anyone recomment me not buying this phone?
I'm still loving the 6230 despite that there are many new models out there.
My upgrade to Firmware 5.35 has enabled me to use MMC 512Mb without any problems. Better still, i can store my MP3 in any folders and the Music Player can detect it! But duh! the player also plays my Mp3 ringtones...
While playing with my friends's phone... just learnt that the Bluetooth in Motorola e398 and O2 Xphone II does not support File Transfer and Modem connection... feel sorry for the users... that's why the 6230 is still a great phone.
Sorry, Nokia... don't think I'll go for the 6230i just yet. Coz this phone still rocks!
6320 the great................
6320 the great................
Impossible they have to echo, they are 6230's after all. Who ever i know who has a 6230 i question them on the reception and they tell me that they do hear echo effects of their voice on the phone. Its a common fault with the 6230 and Nokia are very embarresed about it which is why they brought out the 6230i you must work for Nokia my friend.
not a day has gone by, when i have looked into thy phones eye and said my oh my to you phone i will have to say goodbye, for thy has made my, life worth living, i have learnt recieving isnt as good as giving.you have brought out the poet in me and my talent is here for everyone to see, take care my lovelys.
Dwight,
My 6230 as well as my wife's 6230... DOES NOT echo... AT ALL. So does my other friend who uses 6230.
There u have it... 3 units of 6230... zero echo problem.
Andy,
Downloading mp3's into the phone is simple:
Here it is... take out the MMC card, slot it into a Card Reader, drag mp3 files into it. Put the card back into the phone - and play it!
Another way is by installing PC Suite from NOkia.com to your PC. Manage a connection from your PC to the phone - either by IR, BT or USB cable DKU-2. Search for the phone in Windows Explorer and drag your music there.
Or you can just use IR or BT to transfer the mp3 file into your phone - but can only be done 1 at a time - and must ensure your phone memory is adequate for the 1 file.
My take - just go out a buy a CARD READER... it's cheap, fast and hassle free.
I'm a audiophile too. My 6230 IS my mp3 player too.
Alot of 6230 users know the phone echos but tend to keep quiete about it or just dont want to admit since they have spent £200 on the phone and as the phone does everying else almost perfectly they trick themselves into thinking its the networks fault which is not a logical theory as the echo effect only happens when using the 6230 and on any network. For example i get no self voice echo with E600, D500, 7210,K500I this doesn't happen with any other phone i have used except for some reason i get quite a substancial echo with a 6230 when speaking in calls which is very annoying when your talking as you can imagine.
If you have read what I have typed and you are still willing to purchase a 6230, well then my friend good luck to you but you have been informed.
has anyone tried using a 512mb memory card on this phone?
I love this phone. I got it on contract with Vodafone & had it for about a week then it was stolen (silly me I had no insurance)
Its a good phone to have though & i recommend this to anyone!
I now have a Nokia 6100 :(
