First of all I would like to help few freidns on the board regarding their questions:
--NO you cannot use 512MB.
The just does not read the fll 512MB space. So it is useless to buy big card.
--- Downloading softwares like 6600.
My friend I am sorry to tell you that you do not have softwares like 6600 for the 6230 because both phones have differnt operating system.
6600 is Symbian 60
and 6230 is Symbian 80 *(like old Nokias)
THIS PHONE IS AN ULTIMATE BEST TOOL EVERY MADE BY NOKIA.
Weak point--few of early release models have softwarw error. Phone stops getting reception and stops recognizing home network.
This problem may also develop in the later versions of this phone, onece you unlock your phone *(especially if you do it by calculating IMEI yourself. I had mine unlocked with cable and so far this problem did not arise).
*** RECOMMENEDE PRODUCT**** ONE OF THE VERY BEST FROM NOKIA....ONCE YOU HOLD 6230 IN YOUR HAND..YOU WILL FEEL THE FEELING AM TALKING ABOUT***
I agree with u that the only thing thats good abt k700 is that its screen....i beleive it will take some time for any other manufacturers to come up with a phone with all the features in it,such as N6230.
And you won't be able to download all(infact most of ) the applications that 6600 uses since it has an symbian o/s .I tried to download the remote control s/w but it didn't work.
Hey,...I wanna know whether i can add 512 MB of extra memory to this phone??will that affect my phones performance...thanks you
Mate are you sure you cannot listen well outdoors ??
Check another network just to be sure. I'm using mine outdoors all the time and is waaay louder than the v3 and waaay bettery connection than the e700
my friend has a 6600 and he can download softwares in his cell where he can do almost anything. he has a software where it allows him to record videos for unlimited amt of time as compared to 10 sec on a stock cell. is that possible on the 6230 since it doesnt have the symbian os.i guess the only thing thats better in a k700 is the screen, else 6230 is better. if i am wrong can some one tell me the better one.
Hamatosha; no problem, regarding to your other question; yes you can use 1GB mmc card for your 6230 (a friend of mine recieved 1GB mmc card for his 6230 tonight as a matter fact).
hey man, thanks alot.... thats actually the only thing that made me think of SE's k700i, its big screen.... anyways thx for taking the time to answer my question, take care ;)
hamatosha; the only thing k700 has better than 6230 is it's bigger screen. Everything else 6230 has better than k700. If you don't believe me please take a note of both phones' specifications and go to the nearest phone agency to try them. Then, you'll see what i'm talking about. SE is known with its problematic software for long time and some say it's fixed. No it's not been fixed yet. What they are planning is to fix the bugs and come up with a god software at the end of 2005. If i were you i wouldn't touch any SE until the end of this year. Good luck.
I have Bluetooth on my computer and have connected it with my 6230. However I have not been able to transfer a video and succesfully view it on my phone as yet. My question to you is: what type of videos may i view on my 6230? Please help!
um im only young and i dont no how 2 get mp3 songs on 2 my mp3 player, plz can u help?
i am thinking of buying this phone soon and i ve tried many sony ericsson and absoulotly hate it i want a nokia and this phone sounds really good too me does it have a lot of downloads
I want to know is N6230 can play wav format ringtones?? If not, what kinds format that can be played by this phone??
Ok I've been using this phone for about a year now, I can only see one major downside:
Sound quality is not all that good in situations with lots of ambient nois. Especially when outside, it can be hard to understand what the other person is saying. You can crank up the volume all you want, but it wont make a difference. It will only blast out more metallic crakling noise that easily gets overruled by surrounding noises. However, the handsfree function DOES work great, I'm using it quite a bit. So on the loudspeaker with not too much ambient sound, the phone sound quality is pretty decent. However for making phone calls in noisy surroundings, it sucks. In normal surroundings, conversation sound quality is so-so. Music/radio sound quality on the other hand is (both on stereo phones and mono speaker) is splendid. Small other downside is, you cant connect your own headphone.
I got this phone a month ago ... i haven't seen a phone like it the phisical enhancements are great and also it is asthetically pleasing at the same time .. see some1 with this phone and you should respect them . My advice too you would be if you think you have style and looks then get yo moneyz and go and buy one of these trust me fellow HoMiEs believe a Bloodz when he is telling you. This phone is for the GaNgStAs
nokia 6230 has very good features and beautiful but it is expensive .
i'm thinking of getting this phone over sony ericsson's k700i, any advice? and another technical question: can this phone handle an MMC card larger thatn 128 MB? such as 265 MB to 1 GB, for storing more mp3 files.. or it cant? help....plz
Use the Search-Opinions button (in this page) with keyword K700 to get tons of related and repeated info.
Nokia 6230 is really good ang promising.. it's compact and fairly priced for all its capabilities/features.. you may find it confusing to use its navi-key, but you'll easily get used to it.. hehehe.. just make sure that the firmware version is 4.x (i read somewhere that the latest is 4.4 -- to check: press *#0000#). i bought mine 6 months ago, FW ver is 3.15, it's more like a microsoft product, it always restarts, worse, it hangs.. sometimes you have to put the batery out so you could restart the fone (after bluetooth pairing with PC). after upgrading my firmware (in a Nokia Center), it works fine and imaging is better... so far.. night mode is still very slow though..
