Paul A,
This is rather a strange problem with your phone. Apart from the ascending ringtone problem there is one more problem of ringtones switching back to the default nokia tune if the ringtone selected is in the phone's memory card and not in the phone's shared memory. Your phone's problem is unique and my advice to you is you go to your dealer and ask for a replace because in my opinion this is your handset's fault.Peace
Anyone else had this fault with the 6230i, the ring/message tones keep turning themselves to Level 1, the only way to get them back is to turn phone off then back on again. Incidentally the Ascending volume of tones on Max is Normal, this has been confirmed by Nokia who say it's to stop peoples ear drums being blasted if you have phone to your ear as call comes in! Anyone help with my fault please?
hi guyz,
just own this phone for 3 weeks.great phone but somehow i just cant save multimedia messages. plz help.
and one more thing, where can i download games like snakes and pairs II? tq
Hi James,
i agree with u about the problem with the message tone when set to max volume for ringing. The tone just doesnot even ascend, it starts at a low level and after quite a time it shoots up to the maximum. If u use any conventional message tones then by the time the volume goes to the maximum the tone has ended. the ascending ring tone maybe a feature but i don't agree that this behaviour for the message tone is also a feature. this is clearly a flaw in the software. another worth mentioning is that if u change ur theme the ringtone resets to the nokia tone however the message tones donot change, i need to ask nokia to give a justification for this, if a tone is linked with a theme them why does only the ringer tone change and not the messagw tone. for all who have problems with the message tone i recommend u use a MP3 or AAC tone with a bit long duration for it, atleast u'll get to know that u have a message.
the nokia 6230i has a limit only of 512mb card, 1g card does not work in this phone. thats why i stick with my trusty 6230 best phone, may not be as good as camera or longer video but still alot of fun and a good phone. u can stick up to a 2g card in this phone aswell.format needed before u do this aswell.
yes youn will find that you will soon run out of memory and the recording time is limited by the memory space available on the phone. try setting it to save onto the memory card as you will get more on and can also record for up to 1hour! Pretty pointless really as the video quality is very poor compared to the samsung e720 and other video phones
i got a question abt the video cam. i find that my recording time is decreasing n im not able to put it to max time again that is the 37 mins..anyone can help out???
I'll be nice to start with. Overall, not too bad. Changed back to Nokia after a nightmarish time with SE, and joy of joys, reception as ever is great, GPRS too! Everything is where it should and accesible be without half a dozen key presses. However, same questions as other users over file compatibilty between handsets. (And whichever version of 3G Nokia are using? every video i encode for it plays back silently) But, and when you spend a fair chunk of money on something it's fair to ask, "Why does it randomly hang?"
The idea, that like a dead PC i should rely on the IT support litany of "Switch it off, Switch it on again" seems stupid when i'm using a phone whose primary use is.. well as a phone. I've seen other posts mentioning this and what stuns me is the response from Nokia. "Contact your local repair shop." If i'm not mistaken the repair shop didn't build the phone or write the software and they didn't take the money for the phone.
What most users are asking for (apart from a fully functioning phone) is good service. Not premium rate phone numbers or membership of a club that allows them to shower you with junk mail or troubleshooting guides that ask only the questions the manufacturer wants answered. I didn't buy the phone because of lifestyle advertising. I didn't want 3D spinning logo's.
I bought it because a) Signal. Got Nokia, Got Signal. b) While i absolutely love my 6310, my work is in video and as such i needed a video phone. (Nokia! clear instructions on file formats please!)
Personally i feel that Nokia have dropped the ball again by releasing a half finished phone that should have been £100 cheaper with a plain i.e. stable interface and had some of the more pointless features left out (Media and Gallery could easily have been combined etc. etc.) and more work done on the processing power. 6230i suffers from a ludicrous amount of breakup in its video for a phone of its spec and price. Anyway, Pull you finger out Nokia! The competition are catching up.
so far, not happy at all with my 6230i. many faults and differences to the 6230 mainly include the ascending ring tone, no seperate inbox or outbox for multimedia, not being able to recieve or send jpg files to and from a samsung d500. And most of all, please tell me that you all have noticed it too, the biggest problem ive had is the message tone volume when the phone is set to volume 5. upon recieving a message, the volume will appear to be at level 3..?? this sticks out like a sore thumb and is something that i noticed within 15 mins of recieving the phone. Personally I think this is far more of a problem than the ascending ringtone everyone keeps talking about. Does anyone else have this problem? - James
hey, i got some problem of my nokia 62301, i dunno why i cant open some files which sent by my friend through bluetooth? some files including songs and movies....
to tasha i also have this problem connectiong to nokia pc suite with the bluetooth, i find it works though if you use the original bluetooth software (BlueSoleil) and then transfer evverything to nokia pc suite if required. Also i have had my phone about tow weeks now and it has started to respond rather slowley with up to 5 second delys in pressing the keys and their function occuring eg to unlock the keypad this takes ages due to the unusually slow response time. i am only using a 128mb card which is no where near full so cannot think of a reason for this to happen
To all nokia 6230i fans, the ascending ring tone is actually not a bug,its nokias pollicy
email from nokia:"please be informed that if the volume of the phone is set to level 4 or 5, the phone will ring in an ascending mode. This ascending mode on the Nokia 6230i is a feature of the phone and is in accordance to our specifications.
This feature is designed to avoid any possible ear
damage by allowing the phone to ring softer for the first few seconds before
hitting the maximum strength."
Edy,
This question has been answered in this forum quite a number of times. I remember I myself answered this question 3-4 times. Anyway, this phone supports upto 2GB of MMC. I tested my phone with a 1 and 2 GB MMC and they worked but with very poor results. My phone became unstable viz. frequent hangups, shutdowns, slowing of the processor etc.If this phone says upto 512MB then surely Nokia engineers have a point in it. Many people just don't want to understand and use a 1 or 2GB MMC and then they suffer. So my advice to you is don't waste your money buying a MMC higher than 512MB. Peace.
6230i is better then d500 simply because d500 doesnt have card slot that is enough reason for me or wait d600 to arrive and buy it:D any way 6230i has it all forza nokia:D
