Well my Nokia 6233 sucks, the backlight goes off after about 10 seconds and will not stay on in the car(even with an approved nokia advanced car kit). It is really great fumbling around in the dark trying to dial. All Nokia can say on their website is sorry we do not have any way to fix this. Thanks for nothing Nokia I am going to warn everyone about this useless piece of equipment.
Hey You from Manilla Phils,
I had an hour eith a V3x the other day. I like it, to be honest, but I don't know if I could put up with a flip phone. This is the only thing I would consider. Other than that, the phone is brill. My 6233 is still with Carphonewarehouse, back next month, with a bit of luck!
Still no phone....Back next month hopefully. I am gonna wait and see. If it is still not good, then it'll get the chop!! I'll let you know...thanks for asking.
sorry I haven't been answering queries, but without my phone I cannot check out all the little things we can check....I'll be back when the phone is once again in my possession!
Hi, recently I've bought nokia 6233 and I'm very happy with it. I've read all the comments here about bad sfotware and problems, but so far I've only experience one problem - phone restarted after I quickly opened a video file. None problems besides that. Bluetooth works great, making calls are great, its' louad enough, althoug the difference betweene fourth and fifth speaker volume is to big (fourth is too quite, fifth is too loud...). Maybe I do't have so many problems as you guys, because I've bought it just recently. Oh and mine is made in Germany, not Finland as I previously thought every nokia phone is made in Finland. Well at least its not "made in china"... I guess german production is also good.
Hey, i just got one of these Nokia 6233s sent to me, and its pretty straight forward, but there are a few options that i had on my old phone (6230) that id like to have on this new phone;
1. Cell Info Display: I want the area im in to be displayed on the 'desktop', i try to enable it, but it tells me: "Cell Info Not Avalible In This Network" "Select general indicators option to see all standby mode info in active standby"
2. Screensaver Clock: On my old phone, after say 2 minutes of a screensaver (animated GIF) it would switch over to the digital clock, on this it goes to a screensaver, then it will go to a blank screen that has the date and time (very small) up the top, im wondering if this can be made the same way as the Nokia 6230?
How would one compare this 6233 to a sony ericson Z800. I hav been using one for one year. Now it is givin me trouble in the ribbon. All this time it was ok. so im pretty scared in buying a phone now. These reviews scare me more as i go. pls pls help me. Is it a phne with warranty is very very expensive one that is without a warranty?

You don't have to repete your questions, everyone seees them. Besides you could check for yourself because all answers are somewhere below...
1.Some say 2-3 days, some say 5-6. Depends on how heavy you're gonna be using it.
2.In everage usage none but some say when you move fast and have about 2-3 bars noone can connect with you.
3.With this firmware - yes.
4.Seems like ascending.
5.There are problems with bigger files.
Hope I helped a bit.
Roger what's going on with you? Do you have your phone back? Tell us about your feelings :)
I have been have issues with software freezeing. I am told that there is a new version of software available. But I can't seem to find the settings that allow my to update the firmware over the air. Can anybody point me in the right direction.
i m going 2 buy this nokia 6233.
after seeing the reviews i m confused 2 buy it.
can u pls clear my doubts?
3.is that switching off many times?
5.data transfer via bluetooth is gud?
pls answer my all questions above...
to move the copy protected files to a new memory card, use the move option on the phone, move the file/app to internal memory then replace the memory card and move again!
Please can someone tell me....can you only tranfer music from your pc to the 6233 with a usb cable? im trying to transfer with IR and i can only do it to the phone memory.
Jeff, for your first problem, do a search on the word "ascending" in this forum to find a solution.
sathish, regarding #6, yes you can store files to the microSD card using the data cable.
Hope that helps a little.
i am still decideing wheter to get a nokia 6233 or motorola v3x. can you recommend which unit to buy? i'm from manila phils.
To all users of this phone, I've a few ques to ask.
1) When I set the ringtone to max (Vol 5) level, it doesn't seem to ring at level 5 when someone call. For eg: it'll ring at level 4 volumn and 5 seconds later, it suddenly becomes very loud (Vol 5). This same goes to my sms and my alarm tone. It sounds like ascending. Does anyone knows how to rectify this prob?
2) The 64Mb memory card comes with a few applications. It's so wasted that when I changed to a new 512Mb card, I'm not utilizing the 64Mb card. So, do you know how to transfer ALL de extra application from that card to my new 512Mb card? I've tried, but it said that the card was protected :(
Thx so much and also Roger, who ans. my previous ques. :)
