Does this phone come with a USB lead or hw do you transfer photos on to your pc ?
THe sony ericsson k750 comes with a USB lead, and that was the phone i had, but thinking on upgrading to this one.
thanks for your input...no, 10-20 emails is not gonna make me change my mind. Let them play, I just read it and bin it. The rant was a bit over the top, sorry for using this space for that.
Apologies all round. Ta ta and have a great weekend.
I hope that rude email incident is not gonna change your helping attitude? That would be a huge lost for us. I maybe stay quiet but read all your words. Peace
No, unfortunately this phone does not support such applications.
first, yes, you can, provided that you have the right software to convert the dvd into mpg4, then a massive massive memory card. A normal DVD can take up to 4.75GB of space.
Second, Push to talk - PTT, this is similar to the old Walkie Talkie, but on nokias this has to be set up in a way that you use it to speak to people, using the network. Basically, you call your provider, ask to set up PTT, then add your contacts. If you want to talk to someone, press that PTT button and voila! However, some companies are giving minutes inclusive on price plans, some charge per call. It is useful in a building site, i suppose.
The PTT button on the nokia 6233 cannot be set to work on anything else. So if you dont use PTT, that button is of no use to you in any way. Waste of space.
Bass is quite good, but there is no allowed setting on the player mode settings options. Just Normal, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Classical and Set 1 and Set 2. I presume you can set the latter 2 as you wish.
The battery glitch is normal. This happens on the first/second attemps, perfectly ok. mine did the same, and now is as good as gold.
The image as Wallpaper. This should not affect anything on your sleep mode / power save mode. Try removing the image, setting up your sleep/power save modes, then adding the image on again.
Also, if this fails, a nice little resert of the phone is always welcomed. This helped me get rid of some annoying things, all is fine now. Give it a try, if not, let us know and we check it out again ok?
This is something new. Have you tried resetting your phone? Maybe that'll help. sorry I can't be more specific.
I'm in the UK, so not very clued up on issues with network receptions in US. However, this phone is triband, accepting automatically any network in 3-4 continents. There should be no reason why you cannot get this phone to perform well using cingular. I would suggest popping into a shop/dealer and having it investigated further? Sorry I cannot be of further assistance.
To the emailer
Thanks for your rude email.
i do not work for Nokia, and I am not a samaritan. This junk about me trying to look good on GSM is also all garbage. If i wanted people to praise me, I'd put myself up to new challenges. This GSM arena thing is something very useful to me and to many others. In the past, i made a decision to buy a phone using information found here, posted by people like the ones that are asking questions today. I am not a guru that knows it all. I have this 6233 and happen to play with it a lot and investigate its little issues. Then i can share that with other people that may or may not decide to purchase it. This has no bearing on what nokia / gsm sells.
I am in no way gaining anything out of it, other than satisfaction, for being able to help out now. I was helped in the past with other phones' issues and this time is my turn to return the favour.
If this looks like something out of ordinary to you, then I should remind you that no human was born super intelligent, everyone has a little learning curve. Everyone needs assistance, and everyone is capable of being nice to one another. Even yourself. Give it a try, it is a real buzz. Get help for things you need, then help your neighbour when he/she needs it. Nothing wrong with that, is there?
Hope you are well, sorry for the rant above, had to get it out of my chest.
hi friends !!! i have one small query? should i able to view the .doc, ppt, xls, pdf files in this phone?please provide me the information as i am planning to buy this phone.
Hi guys, after reading your reviews - I've pretty much made up my mind to ditch my hideous Nokia 3100 and buy the Nokia 6233. But before I buy it, I'd like to ask a few questions, if it's OK/ :-)
1. I read somewhere that it's possible to put an entire DVD movie onto your phone [through the MicroSD card] after proper conversions/compressions to Mpeg4. Is this possible? Has anyone been able to put movies or music videos onto their phone? If so, how is the quality?
2. What exactly is 'Push To Talk'? I've tried looking it up, but didn't really understand much.
Hey everyone can pls tell me if the mp3 player has good BASS element? Is bass boost present in the equaliser itself? Thanks a lot. Waitin to hear from u all soon :-)
Man if they sold a phone like wat uve described it would cost more than a cybershot, ipod and a decent phone combined. Thats why no1 retails the ultimate phone.....Every phone has somethin missin but thats okay cause it meets your needs and you are free to choose wit a decent price to beat!

well...finally we have a substitute for the brilliant nokia 6230 (which still remains my personal favorite)
the beautifully designed and feature packed 6233 promises to make up for the 6230i launched some time back which was very disappointing in more ways than one
the first thing one would notice about the 6233 is its large and bright display…and to top its great looks it has a really fast processor...superb sound quality (thanks to its stereo speakers)...fantastic camera...excellent keypad…and the list just goes on
the software is quite colorful and animated...file transfer via bluetooth is faster than any other phone around...text messaging is a pleasure with one of the best keypads nokia has ever come up with
the two mega pixel camera with its multiple modes is much better than any of the other camera phones that nokia boasts
the music player…well thats the best part...its simply superb…6233 users would wanna keep their apple ipods / creative zens back at home...and the equalizer comes integrated into the music players main screen which makes it easier to toggle between equalizer presets
a few let downs though...dull blue keypad lights…volume keys shifted to the right (we are all used to them being on the left)...useless dedicated push to talk button...camera button way down on the right hand side...and the micro sd slot (thankfully hot swappable) has a cover that can break easily
but all in all a really really good phone to buy...i would definitely give it a 9 out of 10
Have had this phone for three days now and i surely feel this is the best i have ever had.
Minor glitches i faced 1) The first time i charged the phone was after i had drained the battery and the phone took nearly 7-8 hours to fully charge...is this normal....
2) I have added an image as a wallpaper...ever since i have done that the phone does not go into the power save mode or the sleep mode...
Does anyone else face this problem.
Also take this opportunity to thank everyone for their valuable opinions posted here...
Hi, this phone is excellent. My only problem with it is that the volume for listening to conversations (either via the phone or the Nokia 36W bluetooth) is sometimes too soft. I called up the Nokia Professional Center in Malaysia and was told that there is a default volume that the phone goes back to....middle i.e. no. 5. I have to normally turn up to 10 max and still sometimes it goes back to 5! Another problem i think i have resolved is the bluetooth headset appears to only sometimes connect to the phone after 5 seconds. I have now switched OFF the sleep mode of the phone and this problem appears to have gone away for now. So, anyone knows how to get around this soft volume issue?
hey.. I am living in north Carolina area. I am really interested in buying 6233. But i heard it wont work with cingular gsm 850mhz network, And i been calling cingular to find out about my coverage network, But heard nothing from them yet. So i am wondering that any of your guys can tell me. Thank you.
Only sometimes. It happened with me about a week ago. I have been using it all week and it has not happened again. so it is intermittent, and nor regular. Not a big problem.
the package is as normal - headset, charger, manual, cd, battery, 64mb card, plenty of cardboard and plastic and tie-wraps...hehe
ta mate, roger.
it switches off and then restarts when viewing pics/videos? does this happen everytime you view a pic/video or just once in awhile?
whats included or inside the sales package?
Good phone got it for 3 weeks now...Allready have my speaker repaired because of noise in the speaker but thats just bad luck i think.Another thing i dont like on the phone is the volume of the phone speaker (so not the stereo speakers). Its a bit soft, i must put in on 10 to get a good volume, its not bad at 10 but i want it to be harder if im in crowded places. The 6230 was much harder... it this normal?
The minor bugs, very minor, are as follows:
Sometimes when viewing pics/movies on the phone, it switches off, then restarts.
Some people are complaining about battery over heating, however this is not a cause for concern for many many users, who simply did not suffer this problem.
Some people are complaining of screen being a bit washed out(colou wise). Not all handsets present this problem.
Some people complain about MP3 being noisy and a bit of white noise on radio. This is also due to poor radio reception.
I must admit that I only experience the first bug on this list. I am sure some people will be able to confirm having one or more problem.
The nokia is a very strong handset, a few came out with some bugs, but whatever it is, Nokia will undoubtdely be looking at it closely in the very near future. No cause for alarm.
No, PDF are not viewable on this handset, unless someone found a way of doing it, in which case I'm uninformed.
Unfortunately not. I've even asked Nokia directly. If PTP is not widely used, then why place a button there, where people could easily make it their own little short cut to other more important stuff; be designed to one single operation. Nokia says this is to the market that actually uses the PTP and this is it. Sorry, but i thought this was poor too. Absolutely very narrow minded of them.
If you mean the icons on the menu, and fast service menu on standby, then NO, they do not change. The only difference will be the background and the highlight of an icon when hovering it for application operation.
Yeah, I also heard they can't get it to work properly. But do you want to know why?????
THIS IS their own fault. EVERY time a handset comes out, a service provider creates their own firmware, with all their logos, singing and dancing stuff, fast service menu, bla bla bla. They destroy it for us. If the fone is sent to the customer/buyer as it came from the Nokia factory, they wouldn't have to pull it out of their stocks and recall handsets, would they? This is their own wrong doing, trying to be smart. I say, leave it as it is, then you get it right, and people keep coming back to a good service and good, reliable phones. Don't you agree?
Why is it we see the little orange/vodafone/O2/3/Virgin/T-Mobile logos right at start up then little things here and there with a similar pattern to their network? This is them trying to make it better, but only making a shambles of it. Poor Poor Poor, this is what i say.
If you were to get a unconnected, sim free phone, direct from nokia, i can almost guarantee you wouldn't have none of this nonsense. I totally understand what you say and couldn't be more p*** off at it sometimes. Let's hope other networks learn this from T-mobile and leave phones alone for us, eh??
Btw,may I know what are the 'minor bugs' that can be found in this phone?
