The photograghs that i've taken with my 6280 is alright when viewed on the screen, to me it's very clear, like a noraml LCD display. I've not investigated on other phones. As for pictures that I open from an e-mail from another source, they are spectacularly clear, probably because they use good cameras.
i am using nokia6280,but i feel that its display is not so clear as compared to other 2 megapixel mobiles, will u plz help me to know that its whether its display is perfect or not also the quality is better than other mobiles ir not or i am just getting superstitious toward it.
I love my 6280 and i'll keep it for the time being and not change to another model as it has been working fine but i will also like to buy the N70 to try out. I prefer to recommend that you buy the N70 as the price has come down and for the "N" in front which gives it a "latest" image.
I've used the phone to watch Channel News Asia "live" and it sure is "live", only just lagging my tv by a few seconds. But although the live streaming is free until Dec '06, i.e. i don't have to pay for subscription to the cable network, and i'm on the Gee value plan which is at S$5pm with free S$20 of GPRS usage, on the other hand i have to pay for the GPRS charges which is very high, maybe about S$10 to S$20 for about a few mins i think, as i checked the GPRS counter and it shows that i've just used about 5,000,000B, which if calculated at S0.32c per kb would be S$16 so i've stop using it, unless if i want to i can splurge my money on the unlimited GPRS plan which is at S$100 pm.
I'm now using mini fonts for sms, there is also normal fonts and large fonts. I find that i'm able to key in words and numerals and send out my sms very speedily to my clients and to me in the financial line this is a very important feature.
I do not encounter these problems:
1. Dust under my screen. No, i'm lucky don't have this problem at all. The screen is crystal clear and beautiful.
2. Screen cracked. No, i'm lucky i don't have this problem also.
3. Switching on and off. Yes initally, but now no more of this problem at all, ever since the free 03.81 Firmware upgrade at Nokia Care Centre.
4. Battery short-lived. Luckily no such problem for me.
5. Battery gets hot. No such problem also.
6. Keeps changing the settings, such as ring tone, message alert tone and screensaver. Yes initially but now no more of this problem at all.
7. Slider too loose or too tight. Yes, initially. But now ever since the Nokia staff change the sliding mechanism and tweak it for me, it is as smooth as silk.
8. Phone doesn't ring as if in silent mode. Yes initially. Now no more of this problem.
My phone's condition is now very perfect and i'm glad that i keep it and did not give up and if there is any hitches i believe they can be solved as i have done and i think that if a world renowned brand cannot even be trusted, then who should i trust.
Yes the sms does have "save" function for your own words. To activate it, go to sms message box and press on # for 1 to 2 sec, select "Dictionary on" and you will see "T9 Dictionary on", now you can save wordings for your sms.
I've now found a set of beautiful transparent hard plastic casing for the front and back of the phone. It fits onto the phone snugly, its corners rounded, and the plastic is nice to grip with, protects the phone and is very cleverly designed.
Nokia Care Centre staff have been a great help to me and all they need from me was to scan my warranty card and i always just have to leave my phone there from 8pm and collect the next day after 3pm. Very efficient.
During the 1st week i hated this phone because the slider initially would not move, it seems to stick in its initial position and it causes my thumb to sore trying to flip it open. But fret not as i did not believe that Nokia being a world-renowned brand has made a design fault. I persisted to find a solution. And true enough, Nokia Care Centre staff was able to solve this problem by changing the slider mechanism and tweaking it to a degree of smoothness that is now so perfect and soft to the touch that i like it so much.
thnx guys for help!@b2tere and the no name person...hehe! and is it free to upgrade the software to nokia center?thnx! if if its not, then how much does it cost?
I feel that this is a very well-designed phone. For example there is this innovative feature whereby you can set the alarm and then turn off the phone and when the alarm comes on in the morning, you can just press "yes" and the phone will switch on. I'm glad to have this feature as it is what i've been looking for.
i do not recommend buying this fone.. i would prefer 6270.. this fone will giv you a headache, you will always encounter problems.. i dont know why nokia released this fone it has a defective software. knowing that nokia is one of the best celfone company i cant imagine that they released this unit internationally and as you can see many complaints coming from different parts of the world..
Kid in US bought this phone -- love it! No issues until today, when any connection to my BH-900 headset causes restart. Any idea how someone in the US can get firmware upgraded to 3.81???
The 6280 is a fine phone, in regars to it switching of on all the time. It is the memory card. Make sure that it is in the right way and not moving, if you move the memory card around it will cycle power.
The firmware update fixes this.
can someone lps help me!! i am interested in this nokia ,and i am still confused if buying it or not! i need to know,if its a good phone and if its worth in buying it?and if this mobile keeps on switiching on &off all the time on its self pls?
My phone's been fine ever since it was being upgraded to version 03.81 at one of Nokia Care Centres in Singapore.
Now the only problem is : when i play the N6280.3gp video clip from the 64MB miniSD at 01:23 mins the phone switches off and re-starts itself.
The other thing is when i open the mp4 videos and also the music files with .aac format from the 64MB miniSD, they all do not play and it says file format not supported.
I love the use of this phone. Pls can anyone help?
i've just checked the software on my phone pressing *#0000#, its says v 03.36, is that what its meant to be or is the reason why my phone keeps restarting itself is because i need to upgrade the software? not being funny but shouldnt the phone have the right software on it in the first place?
For anyone who has problem in opening the back cover, at the bottom edge of the cover use your finger nails to push it towards the top end of the phone, using your other hand to grip the middle portion of the phone, and it will slide open easily.
