TO ORIGINAL JAMAICAN..
Hi, i'm not sure if u remember me, but i'm the guy that needed help once with wich phone i would buy, nokia 6300 or 6500 classic..
I bought the nokia 6500 classic for a very very low price, that is 100 euro, and it was a brand new one.. The reason was that there were a brand new store that opened and had special prices that day.
Anyway, i followed your advice about going to the store and tested both phones and i got stuck with the 6500 classic at once :-)
There are just few difference between the phones and they are actually very similar except the phones appearance.
I want to thank you for taking time that day for giving me some answers to my questions that i had..
Well, if you would need any help (in the future) with the nokia 6500 classic, then just send a message on either the 6500 classic "forum" or the 6300 :-) :-)
Thx one more time!

DEEPANSHU, 09 Aug 2008I Wanted to buy Nokia 6300 from long time but when i browsed GSMarena i found a lot of reviews... moreTo DEEPANSHU:
I have never witnessed for myself the memory card glitch. However, it's said that a few batches manufactured last year had a missing transistor. I believe that story because even Nokia's official disccusion forum have complaints about it.
I have only heard of one memory card glitch complaint since 2008 (right here from GSMArena) so my analysis on the situation is that the glitch was a problem of 2007 mainly.
What I have witnessed is the restarting problem but for me it only started when I upgraded my firmware (phone operating software) to version 5.50. My phone came with version 5.00 and I had it running for over 3 months with no malfunctioning, no restart etc.
I upgraded to firmware 6.01 after and the restarting problem cooled down drastically BUT it still restarts when it feels like once in a while.
The restarting thing is weird because it's not like the phone restarted everyday even when I had 5.50. When I first upgraded to 5.50 it worked fine for a week and then the restarting happened then it stopped after about 2 days and worked fine until about a month.
The thing with firmware 6.01 is that even when it restarts it's just for a portion of the day and then it works fine until about 2 months or so.
I believe that when you manually update your firmware there are some side effects oppossed to when Nokia themselves install the firmwares. The reason I say this is because normally the restarting problem happens ONLY AFTER you update the phone's operating software...at least for me.
It's a good phone overall and I DON'T regret buying it. My ONLY complaint is that my headset only worked for about 2 weeks and NEVER again so I'm yet to hear how the radio sounds. I'm NOT really a headset fan so it doesn't really bother me to that. If you are a headset fan you might want to keep testing the headset on a daily basis until your warranty expires. Seems as if the headset bug only happens to a few of them because only one other person complained about the headset from this forum while 80% of the people complain about battery life.
Battery life for me is fine, I got 6 days out of it on 2 occassions just to see how long it could last on a single charge. I made at least two 5 mins. calls per day and received a least 1-3 calls per day as well as sent text messages every day right through until the 6th day on both occasions.
As you can see, battery life is NOT a problem for me.
I say to you BUY the phone. It's a good investment overall and the drawbacks are minor if any at all.
Furthermore the screen is the absolute BEST in the world, no LCD monitor, no HDTV and no other phone screen can compare as said by many people...not even 2008 phones released today as said by me (smile). The screen is unbelievable and has to be seen to understand. Someone said the screen is crystal clear and cannot be beat...I totally agree.
Personally I think this is the BEST 6xxx series in terms of materials, screen and reliable no-nonsense functionally.
Get the best selling phone for 2007 and enjoy the experience.
