DEEPANSHU, 09 Aug 2008I Wanted to buy Nokia 6300 from long time but when i browsed GSMarena i found a lot of reviews... moreTo DEEPANSHU:
I have never witnessed for myself the memory card glitch. However, it's said that a few batches manufactured last year had a missing transistor. I believe that story because even Nokia's official disccusion forum have complaints about it.
I have only heard of one memory card glitch complaint since 2008 (right here from GSMArena) so my analysis on the situation is that the glitch was a problem of 2007 mainly.
What I have witnessed is the restarting problem but for me it only started when I upgraded my firmware (phone operating software) to version 5.50. My phone came with version 5.00 and I had it running for over 3 months with no malfunctioning, no restart etc.
I upgraded to firmware 6.01 after and the restarting problem cooled down drastically BUT it still restarts when it feels like once in a while.
The restarting thing is weird because it's not like the phone restarted everyday even when I had 5.50. When I first upgraded to 5.50 it worked fine for a week and then the restarting happened then it stopped after about 2 days and worked fine until about a month.
The thing with firmware 6.01 is that even when it restarts it's just for a portion of the day and then it works fine until about 2 months or so.
I believe that when you manually update your firmware there are some side effects oppossed to when Nokia themselves install the firmwares. The reason I say this is because normally the restarting problem happens ONLY AFTER you update the phone's operating software...at least for me.
It's a good phone overall and I DON'T regret buying it. My ONLY complaint is that my headset only worked for about 2 weeks and NEVER again so I'm yet to hear how the radio sounds. I'm NOT really a headset fan so it doesn't really bother me to that. If you are a headset fan you might want to keep testing the headset on a daily basis until your warranty expires. Seems as if the headset bug only happens to a few of them because only one other person complained about the headset from this forum while 80% of the people complain about battery life.
Battery life for me is fine, I got 6 days out of it on 2 occassions just to see how long it could last on a single charge. I made at least two 5 mins. calls per day and received a least 1-3 calls per day as well as sent text messages every day right through until the 6th day on both occasions.
As you can see, battery life is NOT a problem for me.
I say to you BUY the phone. It's a good investment overall and the drawbacks are minor if any at all.
Furthermore the screen is the absolute BEST in the world, no LCD monitor, no HDTV and no other phone screen can compare as said by many people...not even 2008 phones released today as said by me (smile). The screen is unbelievable and has to be seen to understand. Someone said the screen is crystal clear and cannot be beat...I totally agree.
Personally I think this is the BEST 6xxx series in terms of materials, screen and reliable no-nonsense functionally.
Get the best selling phone for 2007 and enjoy the experience.

I would like to ask that is it really the truth or its just a rumour?? I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ASK THAT WHICH GOOD NOKIA PHONES SHOULD I BUY UNDER RS 8000??
THANKS IN ADVANCE !!PLS REPLY
Who the hell said that this is a bad cell? I had w810i and after that I bought this one. I was a die hard hater of Nokia, but after this set, it feels like HEAVEN. Its the best. I mean sms management, music player, resolution, camera(if taken in light conditions), the design - EVERYTHING IS JUST EXCELLENT ABOUT THE PHONE.... Just one problem, it needs a lot of juice, meaning a lot of charging, else its just FANTAFABULOUS. You can give this set a go without having any second thoughts in your mind.

ayaz, 04 Aug 2008im frm Pakistan, the new 6300 here is priced around Rs. 13000 while 6120 is around rs 15000.. ... moreYou asked about whether to get the Nokia 6120 or the Nokia 6300. While the Nokia 6300 is a superb device for anyone wanting a device purely to make calls, listen to music and take the occasional photo, the Nokia 6120 is in a different league altogether. It is one of the world's most compact smartphones with an excellent sophisticated Symbian S60 operating system. Unless you simply want a very good quality reliable and basic phone, which the Nokia 6300 certainly is, then seriously consider the Nokia 6120. Check out the specifications on the Nokia website. Hope this helps.
