My only gripe about this phone is that the ringing could be louder. It's hard to hear in noisy environments...and the ringing is one of the most important aspects of a phone. Other than that it's a lovely phone.

with due respect to u sir, can u just comment on the phone , stop commenting what people shud do.
Your help is well appreciated. But i guess if u have used the phone u can rate regardless of which phone u use currently.
does this phone support microsoft office tools??i.e. word, powerpoint, etc
Regardless of what you want to say it's number 1 in sales. So many units wouldn't have been sold if it was as bad as many of these people in here claim. Either some of these people is lying through their teeth or they got a bad batch. Bottomline, mine works fine, battery life is good, end of story.
DANI, since you have gone back to SE...even though tomorrow you will say Nokia is the best again...I suggest you stay in the SE forum. No need to be in Nokia forum anymore. Be like me and stay in the forum you rate. I will stick to Nokia forums, can you stick to SE forums ?

Hey guys. My fon is dated 16-01-2008 'n its version 6.01; why then is it dat I experience the WORST battery life? I like da fon so so much but this battery problem makes me go nuts.
Hey guys, my name is Tom from Kenya. I bought a nokia 6300 (Hungary) thats barely one month old. However, its stressing me up. Battery life. I read dat it shud take almost 14 days on standby 'n about 4hrs talk time. My fon cant stand 15min while I browse or listen to music! It cant stand 12hrs on standby. Thats the truth. I have 2 original nokia batteries dat I always interchange. Does it mean my fon has a problem? Plz help coz am very much frustrated. Plz reply thru ma email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Igor, Macedonia, 14 Jun 2008I'd choose Nokia 6300i (this model has WiFi integrated, so, it's a PRETTY GOOD DEAL).
But, th... more240x320 resolutions won't work with the 6300 because it has a 176x144 video player...unfortunately. However, you can still get crystal clear videos if you have the right encoder. You can normally obtain clear video quality if you do the following:
Set the bitrate to 216kbps or 256kbps (some encoders allow you to choose one or the other but not both), set the frame rate to 15fps (as anything higher will make the video NOT sync probably with the audio), Select MPEG-4 / MP4 and select H.264 /AVC as the codec...the slashes indicate difference of names amongst encoders but you will see one or the other no matter which encoder you have. Avoid XVID or H.263 as these are older codecs. Remember H.264 aka AVC is a high definition (HD) codec so that will boost video clarity. The only problem is, not every encoder supports it.
Personally I use Allok Video to 3G converter 2.3.2. This version is the best, the later ones are crap. It may be hard to find this particular version though as version 4 is out. I also use Any Video Converter at times. Sometimes it's a trial and error at times, the majority of videos work out better with Allok but some, like movies, work out better with Any Video Converter because it has the fatest RW/FFW response I have ever seen in a codec. When it comes to large video files, like movies for example, Any Video Converter is the way to go as you will enjoy the quick response time in Rewinding & Fast Forwarding. If you should use Allok to encode a movie, let's say 1/2 way in the movie you decide to rewind, you will suffer a long wait whereas Any Video Converter rewinds in a just 2 or 3 seconds...sometimes 1 sec. depend how much of the movie have been played. For music videos and clips, Any Video Converter always takes 1 sec. to rewind while Allok will take about 3 secs. for the most part.
As I said, they are both good encoders, you just have to know when to use which. Good luck with your encoding.
hey every1 this fone iz very nice..can any 1 tell me how 2 use net in it and how 2 chk mail in diz fone.....?????moreover , nokiai 6300 rokzz

Hey, 4 those who are on a plan of getting this phone, y don't add on abit more n buy Sony Ericsson K530(King of k-series, 1 of d loudest s.ericsson, & memory support up to 4GB)Let me reveal a truth bout 6300. It's a very sensitive phone. (1 drop-hardware crash, another drop-system crash) The MOST sensitive phone ever built! 4 those who already own, CAREFULL!!!!!
hey , the battery life is really too short....it seems to last less than 12 hrs...
but i read it in this forum that if i get the v5....the battery prob will b ovr...but how do i get that...as bcoz i got d v6 in my cell rite now..
I'd also like some of you to share some secret Nokia codes that are applicable on this model.
Furthermore, I'd like to tell you ALL, 6300 fans, that the battery problem doesn't need to exist. I've tryed and succeeded to put a BL-5C battery inside this model (there'll be no gap left for another SIM card you've left there to keep under the metal battery cover). All you need to do is trim the edges (just the plastic, not touching a micrometer of the protective foil or even worse, the electronic part behind the copper contacts) so it can fit under the black plastic part on the upper side of the battery-storage.
I'd choose Nokia 6300i (this model has WiFi integrated, so, it's a PRETTY GOOD DEAL).
But, the price is yet to come...still haven't got any info on it. However, it's gonna be worth it.
Jamaican, just want to know why not use the 240x320 resolution but the smaller one for videos?
