Hey, GSM forum is updated. Now onwards if someone uses vulgar language they can be reported and can be banned from this forum.
6300 is a great basic handset to own.
It depends on the USER !
For many people 6300 is favorite and for few others it isn't. So big deal.
6300 is not the best
6300 is the BEST

You can safely update your phone using Nokia Software Updater. If you don't have Nokia PC Suite installed, install it so you can make a backup of your entire phone before you update it. Update the firmware of your phone is a critcal process which can sometimes lead to the loss of data and I'm sure you wouldn't want to lose any of your contacts.
Nokia PC Suite also have a link for the Software Updater so Nokia PC Suite is the right place to start anyway you look at it.
You can also check europe.nokia.com to see the available update for your phone. When you get to the home page click on 'Software Update' which is right below the heading 'Get More Out of Your Phone'. You will have to enter your product code in order to find out the available software update. The product code is a 7 digit code found on the label under the battery. That's a quick and easy way to check for the latest update without using a cable.
More than likely you will be able to update to 5.00, 5.50 or 6.01. It varies by region. You should notice an improvement in battery performance if you at least upgrade your phone to firmware 5.00. Good luck with your update and I hope you are enjoying your phone.
To CHESKA:
You prove a valid point. A point I have emphasized over and over again.
Unfortunately, the immature unsensible people doesn't harness the intelligence to get our point and they won't ever get the point.
Cheska everything still ok with your 6300 ?
How many minutes have you ever gotten out of a low battery ?
I got 28 mins. the other day sometime last week which was brilliant in my opinion.
But incredibly, I got 55 minutes !!! yesterday (Saturday May 24, 2008). Can you believe it, 55 minutes on a low battery ?
However, it wasn't a straight 55 mins. 3 calls added up to that...46 mins. on the first call, 1 minute on the second call and 8 minutes on the third call. That's incredible for a so called "poor battery" phone.
As you all can see, my BATTERY is PERFECT.
Cheska don't let the annoying factors deter you, post as often as you wish letting me know how things are going with your phone. Peace and love from the REAL OJ (smile).
@ FRANK
Hmmmm, i see it seems like SE wasnt made for you, i soppose you like Nokia more
oh well atleast you are happy with 6300
I like the 6300 i own it.
but i like SE More....
@ SELF RESPECTING GUYS
I realised the firmware of my 6300 4ne is v04.71 . Not had any probs with the 4ne as yet. How can I upgrade it safely? Thanx.
@ DANI
Yes Dani.EXACTLY: SE w200i.It made me hate all SEs. Iknow the SE 4NES like the W800 & W810s are WOW in camera/video resolutions, etc. My major prob was the menu set ups (NOKIA SET UPS ARE SIMPLER AND MORE SYSTEMATIC). The other problem was with the keypad which was so hard and loud with every key press. VGA camera was also lousy. I had to quit & return to my favourite - NOKIA.
Dani thankyou thats nice can you that for yourself or do you need someone to help you!
Everybody can try new models 6300i or 6301, hopefully these could be better than 6300.
@ my friend the original_jamaican, mine was locked to orange. The new one to vodafone. So far so good with this finnish one. As for christian i think you should mind your own business. This forum has gone to pot last time i popped in was with my 6230i review site this 6300 one is ridiculous.
Lots of immature guys in this forum. Fighting like kids on 6300 issue like "my 6300 is great....no no no my 5310 is great...no no no my SE is great". Grow up guys. Nokia, watching this forum must be having a hearty laugh.
@ FRANK
Did you have the W200i ??
Just bought a used Hungarian 6300 (mfd.28-02-07).Am a NOKIA lover. Had been reading many reviews in praise of SE 4nes before so I made attempt to buy one low end WALKMAN with camera, memory slot & radio, which I hated the very moment I scrolled its features. I swapped it the next day 4 this sleek 6300. I like its 16 million colours, the 2 mp camera, the 2GB card memory space & of course the slim metallicity. No problems as yet. Still testing its capability.
To TOPER:
I come here because there are still good sensible people here who needs help just the same.
To BRYAN:
I'm in the island of Jamaica.
I hope your new 6300 works out well. Please let us know what's going on with it as the days go by.
I heard that Hungary had produced a few bad batches of 6300s where a transistor was missing which resulted in the memory card disappearing about 5 minutes after the phone was turned on. Maybe your first Hungarian made 6300 was one of those with a factory fault.
Mine was made in Hungary and I have had no problems whatsoever. I honestly cannot complain.
My previous phone (6230) was made in Hungary and never had any problems after 2 years of using it. I consider Hungarian Nokias as high quality Nokias.
A question, the phones you receive from your company, are they branded or unlocked ? When I say branded I mean if they are locked to a network like Orange, Vodaphone etc. or do you get them sim free and not locked to any network operator ?
