i would like to ask your experiences after you have upgraded the firmware of your 6300. i have v05.00 and apart from the bug regarding the low volume of recordings during playback i haven't encountered any problems with my phone (i keep on saying it is the most stable nokia i've owned so far) that is why i am thinking twice if i should upgrade my phone's firmware since sometimes the newer firmwares actually introduce new bugs. pls advice me on this. thanks.
i've been wanting to swap my 6300 with a 5310 but i will surely miss my 6300's "reminder lights" if i did.
To ORIGINAL JAMAICAN:
Is it true that you are planning to change your 6300? How about that Sri Lankan Buds below that announced that you are already planning to change your 6300 to a Samsung i550 or i560? Is it true? Please confirm.. I have just visited the i550 forum.
Another thing I should tell you: In addition to the frame per second (FPS) being 15, the resolution has to be 176x144. If you try to encode a video in a higher resolution it won't work.
Yeah, GSMArena, please review this phone. I already emailed you guys about this. I am really thinking about making this my first S60 device but I need reviews.
Only one review so far, and that's from www.smape.com but it's of the non-WiFi version, shouldn't be too different but the review was good.

Hey people listen. Original Jamaican is already planning to change his 6300! I saw his I.P. address on the user opinions and reviews section on the Samsung i550 and Samsung i560 where he posted as "Junior in Jamaica" in the i550 and as "Jumz" on the i560.. You people can check it out and tell me what you think.
The 6300 have a nice Video Player. It supports 3GP, 3GP2, MP4, MP4/AVC (aka H.264) and FLV (FLV files have a .swf extension).
That's 5 formats but you are better off not bothering with the FLV format when it comes to video as the files have to be a certain file size for the player to open them. The FLV format is best left to games and other apps. like calendar and stuff.
When converting video in any format the frame rate MUST be 15 FPS for the video to play smoothly.
Other than FLV, the 6300 handles any format with ease...especially if you have a good video converter like Any-Video-Converter or Allok Video to 3GP Converter (don't let the Allok title fool you, it converts regular MP4 and H.264 as well).
Finally, one thing I like about the Video Player is that it supports Rewind and Fast Forward and you can set the intervals from 10, 20, 30 or specify your own RW/FF time. Example, if you set it to 30, a single tap of the RW or FF key will rewind it 30 sec. or forward it 30 sec. There's a user definable field where you can set your own time which is useful for large video files like movies.
While the video is playing, you can also hold down the key and it will perform a search just like when you watch a DVD movie on your TV...meaning you will see the picture moving in fast motion.
Certain converters doesn't allow for smooth searching and smooth searching is also dependent of the RW/FF interval. In fact if the interval is too high, like 30 mins. or so, the search won't work, the picture will just freeze and then eventually jump to a earlier or later segment of the video (depending on which key you press RW or FF).
For the smoothest search, where you will see the picture moving in fast motion, set the interval to 10 and use a fast converter/encoder like Any-Video-Converter. Have fun at the movies.
The camera is a very good one. The only flaw I see with the camera is that dark scenes have shades of green in it. I consider that a small flaw though.
Once the scene is brightly lit, whether by natural light or artificial light, you have crystal clear photos. There are so clear that the 6300 camera can be considered a rival for 2 Megapixel standalone cameras.
I showed my co-worker a few photos from my 6300 after I transferred them to the PC and that co-worker said I don't need a standalone camera. I can't answer your question any better than that (smile).
