yeah i did buy it sim free mate but i am on orange the same as u mate
Thanks original jamaican, i hardly receive 1 phone call a day, with my old nokia 6230 I managed the accu to last for a whole week
Last year I switched to SE K800, very solid device, cant say Sony is bad, but the phone is way to big. I am not sure who wins the contest between Nokia and Sony and on which fronts Nokia beats SE, but 6300 is on top list then it should be a good phone. Ill see in a couple of days.
to ORIGINAL JAMAICAN: well it looks as tho nokia has done a cracking job in releasing firmware update v5.00 as it has seemed to have resolved a whole lot of problems, lets keep our fingers crossed and hope they release another update to solve ur video playback niggle :-)
to BOB: oh right, wht network r u with mate, im with ORANGE, I did read in the manual that OTA software updates r network dependant, looks as tho ur ndtwork doesnt support it, i don't know what to suggest now then
"the chinese version comes with a leather pouch."
To orig. jamaican.
Thats information that i didnt know !
Thx for the tip.I will do as you said.
Thx again :)
I am in love in nokia 6300 :D
Nokia is simply the BEST. They do listen to people and sometimes they themselves realise that they can make life easier for people which benefits them too in terms of sales and fans...hence a thing called firmware updates.
After reading several reviews I put 2 and 2 together and figured out that the volume keys were the only keys used for zoom.
Quite a few reviewers NEVER mentioned the D PAD as an option for zooming and one particular reviewer said "the volume keys are used for zooming but they are a bit hard to press so if zooming is your thing forget it" (quoted message).
When I read that I was so disappointed and I said why make the volume keys be the only ones for zooming, it would be much better and more comfortable if the D PAD was the source for zooming. Nevertheless I wanted the 6300 and when I got it and tested out the camera, whola, the up and down keys were used to control the zooming. I said to myself, apparently Nokia heard me and didn't want to disappoint me :-).
I checked the firmware revision sometime after and saw version 5.00 so I said, most people complained about battery problems among other things and they said they had version 4.20 and 4.71 so I told myself that more than likely the official reviewers (including GSMArena's own reviewer) got the 6300 when it had 4.20 and 4.71 which is why NONE of them ever mentioned the D PAD to zoom in when taking photos or shooting videos.
v5.00 fixed and made a whole of features better. I have no complaints with my 6300 whatsoever.
Well, I have a little gripe but it's not really something to make a very big deal about...it would be so nice if the 6300 could play back videos in 240x320. I'm hoping that Nokia will release one of their magical firmwares with an update to the video resolution so that videos will play back in 240x320. Regardless the videos are ok as it is now.
Wazomba, in terms of me figuring out that the volume keys were the only zoom keys...as you can see, I'm sharp!
To wazomba: Looks like my operator has blocked that option I only have 2 choices, current software details and install software (greyed out)
to ORIGINAL JAMAICAN: yeah thats right mate, how did u know that? now ive got v5.00 firmware the ZOOM is controlled by the D-PAD
to BOB: u can upgrade ur phone in PHONE UPDATES, trust me i know, ive done it myself u got 3 options CURRENT PHONE SOFTWARE, DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE, INSTALL PHONE SOFTWARE, if u go straight to option 3 it will say 'no software to install' u need to download it first (option 2) which will connect u 2 noki n shud give u v5.00 firmware as a APPLICATION, u then will b able to install it and v5.00 will b loaded in ur phone
Quick question, with 4.75 only the volume keys were functional for zooming right ?
Well there's one way you can tell that it's not chinese made...the chinese version comes with a leather pouch. When you are in the store ask them to open the packaged boxes and whichever box doesn't have a leather pouch then you can ask them to take off the back cover of the phone and check under the battery to see where it was manufactured. Once it's made by a European country just go ahead and take it, same high quality components are found in all European models BUT if you want to frustrate the sales rep then you can ask them to check them all until you find a 'Made By Hungary' version.
Np,i will send it who wants it.
To orig.jamaican. I know that your cell phone is "made in hungary" ,but how can i go to the shop and ask "can you give me -made in hungary nokia 6300" :D
Is there another way to update your phone? I tried in phone settings but it says no software to install. I tried nokia updater on pc it says I have the current version 4.70???
yeah mine was made in HUNGARY, but when i first got mine it had firmare v4.75 and had a few problems, battery wud only last a day when making calls, texing, taking photos, playing music, but after upgrading to v5.00 battery peformance is excellent n ive got no complaints nnw with my HUNGARIAN made 6300
Keep the photos and video I sent you in your inbox so if anybody else in here wants to see them you can easily FORWARD it to them. It's a tedious process to attach so many photos and a fairly huge video clip.
People ask PIKABU to send you 6300 photos and video if you are deciding to buy but want to see some good samples first.
PEOPLE, as I said before, my NOKIA 6300 was made in HUNGARY and I recognize it as being a top class version. Believe it or not, the screen is even prettier than the 'Made by Nokia' (which is the Asian/Chinese) version. Ever since I compared my old Hungarian 6230 to the Chinese version and saw the MAJOR difference in screen quality I decided to stick to Hungary made phones. You will find that NOT only the screen are of higher class, the sound system too, the sound is as sharp as the screen :-)
You can't go wrong with a HUNGARIAN made 6300 with firmware v5.00.
6110 - 6230 - 6230i - 6233 - 6300. That is what I call evolution. But I still use my good old 6230 from time to time
I think i know what that photo means where it says MADE IN HUNGARY if u get a 6300 that was made in hungary ur getting a top class 6300 with excellent perfomance
6300 is an amazing phone, excellent 16million colour screen, great sound quality and the battery performance isnt to bad either.
Pictures are excellent, and video is pretty good ! :)
I will definitely buy 6300,just to collect some more money :).
Only thing which i am worried is "MADE IN (BY) " thing. On this picture it is -made in hungary- ...
