El Seano, 16 Oct 2008I'm seriosly considering buying this phone through a cap plan with Three in Australia...
I'm ... moreHi there,
I know it is hard to decide whether you will get this phone or not. With mine, I got it this month, around 1 October. Since then I never had any problems at all. Mine is also made in China. I think all of the Nokia phones now are all made in china. But as what I said, all we have to do to make our phone lasts long is to take much care about it. I also have heaps of phones, all nokia. Tried other brands but I didn't like them at all. with Nokia they are very user friendly.
I got mine with optus for $30 plan for 24 months. This time, I've been using it and calling my mum overseas on a Video Call. Just this morning I did call her again on a Video Call and she said that the quality of the camera is really great, very clear..:)
If you are really in doubt about the phone's problems, I will say when you sign up for the plan, make sure to include INSURANCE with it so that, if anything happens, they will replace your handset. That's what I did. With mine, the agent adviced me to have the insurance so that if I will accidentally poured water or thrown it in the water/pool, they will replaced it immideately.
I am not telling you to go and get it. It's all up to you. I am telling you this because I am happy with my 6500 slide phone.:)
Thank you and have a nice day..:)

I'm a Nokia fan and It seems like a good value phone for the $29 cap, but I've read some concerning comments on here. I enquired with 3 to see where their 6500 slides are made and they confirmed they were made in China... Is this bad - Can anyone give me straight up advice?
its good but iwant some one to tell me about it my email firstname.lastname@example.org
babyking143, 14 Oct 2008Good day everyone, As I am reading all the comments about this phone I said to myself indiv... moreThat's true. You can take a lot more care of your phone. I'm sure that Nokia produces nice and durable phones. i know there were problems with the old phones, but nowadays the problems are gone. If you still have problems with your Nokia 6500 slide, just go to the authorised service and update it's software. Then it should work smooth. I just bought one and I will start using it. I'm sure there will be no problems with it if I will take good care of it.
Tripti, 14 Oct 2008Can we download themes on this phone ?Hello, yes u can. Just go to www.mobile9.com and u will find heaps of themes, wallpapers, ringtones and more. That's where I got all my themes for my 6500 slide and N95.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2008Don't buy this phone, i work for a telco in Oz and i have this phone.
No software upgrade w... moreI bet you have an Asian version.
I don't care what people say, I firmly believe Nokia phones made in the EU are superior in both build & operating system.
My girl & I both have the 6500 Slide that were made in Hungary, & they have both preformed flawlessly for over 1 year now.
Make sure to do SW updates too.
rehman, 14 Oct 2008i am caught between N78 & Nokia 6500 slide. I like the design of 6500 slide but N78 has wifi, ... more6500 Slide has very, very loud speakers.
I love my 6500 Slide. It looks like an 8XXX series phone, & has has the perfect dimensions. S40 is plenty capable & fast.
Nokia's "N" series phones do not impress me at all with their sloppy build quality.
i am caught between N78 & Nokia 6500 slide. I like the design of 6500 slide but N78 has wifi, transmitter and document viewer. Now i want to buy phone which has best sound quality from these two. Sound in speaker and headphone and also which set has louder sound? I feel appreciated if someone will guide me in this issue? thanks
LG, 12 Oct 2008I am intereseted in buying this phone. Heard the battery is not good. can someone pl. help me?Don't buy this phone, i work for a telco in Oz and i have this phone.
No software upgrade will ever fix the freezing, poor battery life, pand the keypad not locking from time to time.
Good day everyone,
As I am reading all the comments about this phone I said to myself individuals are unique. All of us has it's own ideas and comments.
For myself, I can say this phone is a good phone. I bought it on the 1st of Oct. 2008 and until now I never had any problems at all. The freezing, the speaker and other issues. I like this phone because it is slim, slide eventhough it is quiet heavy because as far as I know it is made of metal. Some phones, especially the China phones which are fakes, are not really good ones. I do have China phones and I will tell you that I had enough of it as it does freezes, camera is not good.
Nokia 6500 slide is a unisex phone. it has a good quality of photos. The FONT size? It's great, you can adjust it into small, normal and large size. So if you want to read the messages very well, all you have to do is set the font into large size.
The Phonebook, names and numbers can be adjusted into large fonts also. The video is good and photos are cool as it has autofocus and Carl Zeiss.
About the Video Call. It does work. I called my brother overseas and we were able to talk and see each other LIVE. I asked him about the quality of my Video and he said it is very clear, it's like he was talking to me in person.
If you take good care of your phone, the phone will last long. If there will be some problems, don't panicked, don't get cranky or grumpy. Be patient, be positive that it will get fixed soon.
I love phones, all my phones are from Nokia. I do have Nokia 6120, N95, N70, 6233 and the latest is 6500 slide. I never had problems with these phones because I got them all straight from the Nokia Centre.
So if you are planning to buy this phone, go ahead. Just make sure that it is Original phone. Don't be fooled for all the copy/fake phones especially if you will get it from eBay. There's a lot of Fake phones.
All I said is based from my own experience.
I felt pity to the phone as I red a lot of negative feedbakcs about it.
If you do take good care a lot of your phone, it will serve you good.
How to take care? Well, firstly, wipe the phone with the wiping cloth that is meant for phones everyday. The screen, the keyapds, the battery cover, the lens of the camera and other. Then make sure that you put it in a phone bag/sock before putting it in your bag or purse. If possible, don't put it in your pocket. Instead, put it in a leather case where you can attached it on your belt (for men) and for ladies, in a mobile pouch and put it inside your bag. Then at night time before going to bed, check your phone, turn it off when charging if possible. This will help your battery life.
Take care of your phone like the way you care a baby or love ones. Phones are just like babies, they will depend on you as an owner. If you are a rough person, then your phone will be rough too.

I have had this phone for just under a year and have actually had to send it back over 4 times due to a reoccuring issue with the speaker; people can't hear me, although I can hear them.
I've met a few people where they have had the same issue. Although the phone looks pretty, standard applications and durable - it fails to make calls bearable due to the speaker issue and therefore would NOT recommend this Nokia.
I went bk to Nokia's from a Sony Ericson - BIG MISTAKE
