Hi guys. Anyone updated to firmware version 4.84? Is it stable? Any specific problems with the new version?
I've had this phone for just over a week and I simply love it. Can't find a problem with it at all.
All those people complaining about scratches.. you're being too rough with your phone because there is no way it'll scratch the keypad or anything.
I love this phone. Great phone Nokia!!!
Camera is good, sound quality good, nice shape, size, good and easy to use slide mechanism, and an easy phone to get around.
I would recommend this phone to everyone!!

It is a very good phone. I bought one last month and I haven't seen anything wrong with it. I've just ordered a second one in black.
I should say that the photos aren't that great when zooming, even with Carl Zeiss lenses.
this is good and buety phone in the market now. i purchase one last few days. i studying all functions now, but i can't put any other software in 6500. what is that? please help for that soon by my email.
nokia 6500 slide is basically a very nice model i bought it 4 weeks ago n i was quite happy until it got hung this has happened twice since i bought it n i'm not too happy with this problem!but the speaker is really nice n overall it's quite a good model!
phone reception is decent. i don't think it's good for u if u were having problem with other nokia phone. i'm quite disappointed myself_reception is worse than my rokr e1. keypad will get minor scatches, phone occasionally freeze itself for 1-3sec. sometime reset ringtone and some custome setting.
I acutally don't have an opinion about the phone because I don't own one. One thing I've learned about some international/overseas phones is that certain phones have a hard time catching signal. Right now I have a Sony Ericsson W850i and the signal barely goes up all the way. It only stays between 3/5 signal bars to none at all. I had the Nokia N70, Nokia N91, Nokia 7390, and three of those other phones have such a hard time catching signal too. So my question is, how is the signal on the Nokia 6500 Slider? Can it maybe be sometimes the phone itself or where you are at that time? Because every other phone I've had such as the Nokia N95 and others, they're great with signal...so please, if anyone thinks they have an answer to this, thanks in advance. Please, pro's and cons of the phone.
I bought this Nokia 6500 slide phone one month back in India. The phone looks very nice and cute but it crashes very offen, almost every alternate calls it switchs off by its own and while attending the calls it gives a huge irritative noice which we cannot hear anything while attending the calls.
The Nokia care has updated the software which was not useful and again I approached them but they are helpless.
For every slide, the keypad is getting scratches like anything.
It is not worth for money. Please don't this phone.
shape beauity but it is series 40 not symbian 60
i think that n73 is better
i wanna buy this. is it a best phone to buy in its range(having 3.2 mp camera). Please suggest
I bought the Black one 2 week ago. .its a great product from nokia; with regard to design, features & performance vis-a-vis its cost
managed to find out where it is at the nokia support forum
go to Menu - Messaging - Voice Mailbox - Voicemailbox number.
same applies for Video mail.
bought the black edition last saturday. was fiddling around and wrongly set the voicemail speed dial number. cant find no 1 & 2 in the speed dial menu.
anyone knows where i can change the number?? driving me nuts now koz i cant find it anywhere. somehow or rather i noe that u can change it. nokia aint dumb enuff not to allow that are they???
it says in the specs that this fone can read videos in mpeg4 format. i just want to ask if installing a medial player is possible (i.e. real player). havent really tried yet but will do in a few. hope u guys can give me feedback if it works.
Honestly , after 2 months of immense usage and fiddling around , I really do not see what's the big hype about this phone.. i was one of them who went googoo for it.. but well.. it's "alright" nothing very OoooOoh! abt it...
the body made of stainless steel is really the only + this phone has .. it's more of the all in one "look" type of phone.. feature wise it's far behind than the nseries .. well faster .. true but then again why would'nt it be?! it's not like an nseries which can hardly be compared to a s40.
My advise is .. get it if you're looking for a decent 3.2 camera , and a bit for it's more business look type phone..and wait for it to lower down.. it's really not worth the tag it's being sold at for the moment.
and btw .. do not fall for reviews.. i bought this phone cause many of them said the phone's loudspeakers are LOUD!!!! .. apparenltly there's only one speaker located at the bottom behind of the handset... so you can imagine playing mp3's with your hand covering the "speaker" most of the time.
Im not sleding Nokia.. im just being very very realistic.
I think all brands are gone to the poops , more things are out on mobile phones and basic concepts of clarity and day-2-day functionality has been forgotten.
Hope this helps , Cheers!
