Got this mobile about a month ago (previous mobile was Samsung D500). The design and looks are extremely good. By applying metal and not making it too slim (I'm sorry but Samsung Ultras are too slim) Slide feels sturdy but slim enough to be modern. The keypad is excellent as well, and this is the most ergonomic mobile I've ever owned. The display is very nice; bright with rich colours. The camera, for a 3.2MP, is better-than-average, but do not expect miracles!
About known issues... The battery life of my Slide (normal use) is about 3-4 days. Some people seem to have battery age less than half of this, which is strange. People have also reported scratches in their keypad due to the metallic slider-part... and I have slight scratches in keys 3 and 6, but they aren't that visible nor do they feel under my finger.
I can easily recommend this mobile to anyone looking for an extremely well-built and beatiful mobile with modern features. And S40 rocks so those who need to make video calls or use S60 can buy a business mobile. Yes, you should realize that it'd be stupid to include every darn function into every model: that amps up the price, and let's face it, how many of us truly need half the features even a mid-range mobile offers. Not many, I bet...
I from Singapore and i got this phone for less than a week and it start having problems...
1) The phone start to shut itseft down when i try to on it even the battery is full charge, and the srceen keep showing stuff that look like it's having a "system breakdown" error
2) The microSD memory card in the phone start showing on/off sign in the gallery menu and i have problem trying to play my music files as the songs are all stored in the microSD
3) after the repair work is done, the same problem with the memory card still happen
4) the phone is laggy and also have problem with the loading of the contacts
5) the battery cover is also loose
Whoever thinking of getting this phone better think carefully before spending your money on this piece of crap... i going to sell away this phone a.s.a.p. and get a N82 or S.E. K850i, they cost a bit more but at less the specs are better and don't have stupid problems like this model.
Does anyone else have the problem....When I turn my phone off and back on again I have to set the date and time!!!! Is this normal? Things are getting so hi-tech but an old 5110 could remember the date and time...
I am in South Africa, I have had this phone for 2 days now and I am also experiencing the restting to defalts problem!!! It's unbelievable. I have everything set upnicely and then all of a sudden it's back to default themes & etc.
Will there be a software upgrade to fix this problem? Has anyone contacted Nokia to find out?
Other than that I am fairly appy with the phone, it's camera is fine, sound is ok (not as loud as Sony Ericsson models), the scren is big (are you able to manually adjust the brightness???? I can't find that).
Over-all it an ok phone, not fantastic!
i just bought this phone 2 weeks back and im already facing problems. whenever im using the camera, it either says:
-camera on standby, or
-changing memory location to phone memory, or
-memory card not formatted. Format memory card now? Y/N
its so frustrating cuz when u need to take pictures at the spur of the moment u get all these sort of outcome. I'm so frustrated and starting to regret getting this phone...
Don't think getting this phone for the camera. I am not saying is bad...but there are many out there better. Not a smartphone and kinda' heavy. Reseted once to original settings with no obvious reason.(I own it for 2 days).I hope nokia updates the software 4 this phone in the camera section. The have to make the phone shine at something..at least the camera...the say is Zeiss. P.S. The radio and the MP3 player quality is very very bad, the W800i is way better.
I have read so many posting issues with the 6500 slider. I would like to add my frustrations as well. I live in the US. I fell in love with the 6500 and bought in mid November 07 (the box labeled 6500-1 and I'm not sure what the -1 means but the box stated such and I think it is an Asia model). I used it for 1 week without issues but then here are the problems I've encounted staring the 2nd week:
1- 6500 started to re-boot while I navigated the menu.
2- 6500 started to reset to default settings for FM radio stations.
3- 6500 started to display "Contact not ready" when access the phone book from the internal memory. A power off usually fixed this problem.
4- 6500 re-booted more often in my 3rd week of usage and finally...died. What I meant by died is after power on, the phone displayed the Nokia handshaking logo and then the phone automatically turned off. Battery was fully charged.
I have own several Nokias and they worked great except for some minor problems which I can live with. I really love this phone even with only 1 week of fully using it because of its style, size and functions. I'm now stuck with the dead phone since Nokia in the US doesn't want to deal with international Nokia model and the seller would not allow me to exchange. I'm very frustrated. Does anyone faced similar or close to my issues with the 6500 slider and how did you go about to have it repair?
I really appreciate any helpful advice. Why are we getting so poor of a quality from Nokia these days? I hope the Nokia's head-quarter is learning about these and help users with bad phone out.
HAD ENOUGH of this phone keep resetting to default settings, when i first got it this only happened 2-3 times a week but now its 2-3 times a day, i had mine 2 months. Have now sold & brought the nokia 5610. Same features but with a great music feature. Am sad cause i loved the look & colour of this phone but just could not stand it anymore.
I have just one quesition, does or can the keypad lock 'automatically' when you close the phone???
currently i'm using Nokia 6288...it fine for me....but cannot rotate picture and crack sound with music player..
how about this phone?is it possible to rotate picture?
is it true this phone can display message sender picture?
love this phone...have had it revert back to default settings a few times, but its generally only when it looses complete battery life which is hardly ever because the the batt. life is reasonably good considering how much i use the mp3 player & camera. Sound is good, pictures are good and overall settings are easy to use. i like this phone and have been selling them like crazy. 8 out of ten from me!
