I have now had my 6500 slide for 2 weeks. I also have the problem of delayed answering when sliding up but thats the only problem i have encounted to date. The phone works very quickly, all my files have been able to be used from my previous nokia s40 series phone 7373. The camera takes good pics, ringing is more than loud enough to hear in a busy place in your pocket, bluetooth works with other phones, car sterio & bluetooth dongle, starts up fast, battery last me about 4 days but i don't play music on the phone just ringing & text's, i got some great free themes from ownskins website, the outside cover is smooth & well made compared to the plastic covered phones out there, easy to slide up with 1 hand & close, reception bar is still 1-3 but answers all my calls as well as making phone calls & texts with no probs, can have the clock display as digital or analog, lovely clear screen with good colours, when pic set to phone name & number comes up on ringing & also when recieving text which is helpful, although slightly heavier than plastic phones it is alot smaller than the e65, n95. Overall this is a agreat little phone & i give it 9/10.
I'm actually using the N95 as well as 6500s. N95 to me is one of the best around (if you use the functionalities). You can only compare so much as 6500s is a series 40 and not symbian; with less and simpler functions. Design and material are just personal preference - I think I would use N95 for biz and swap to 6500 for casual after work use...
Still my issue is the lag with auto answer, esp when the phone is ringing while you are in the middle of something in public especially, you slide it up but the phone is still ringing!
This problem and lockups I think should be able to be resolved with a ROM upgrade... I hope its possible and soon!!!
The camera is exposed as the as the case doesnt have a cover but the its very hard to scratch the lens cover as the frame around the camera is raised, the hands free speaker is pretty clear but not the best, the phones isnt slow at all its fast and good. the battery life could've been better, overall 7/10
i think about buying this phone so i want the opinon of someone who already have it (is it take time in opening gallery files )
& what about the camera ?
does the slide have a glass lens covering the camera? when you take off the back panel, does the back panel have its own glass screen attached to the camera hole? or is the actual camera glass exposed?
GSMARENA, please, if you can, do a review for this phone, cose its in the shops allready and i'm shure you'll agree with me, many people would like to see your opinion on this phone. Thank you a lot, Best Regards frome Moldova.
Marvin, N81 has just the center 5-way button tactil, but the rest are normal. But, atention, N81 has a bad camera, so if you do not really need smartphone functionality then take the 6500 slide. It is very cool.
I'm shure you'll chose the best cell for yourself.
Best regards, from Moldova!
tanx alot i never said anything about aomparing.i just said currentley i'm using n95.
i loved 6500s from the first moment but when i was going to buy a fone it wasnt released yet. n95 is really nice fone.but considering that i cant work with lots of its functions in my country,i'll definitley go with 6500s
cuz 3.2 mp camera and vga 15fps video recording will do my job and also i need a fast stylish fone like 6500s. i just hope the screen resolution be cool like n95 even cooler cuz its smaller in size(2.2") and also the keypad be comfortable.
tanx for the response
Just a standard Nokia phone with many bugs, only with metal case. Very funny how some people talk about it as the best phone in the world...Get real.
Anybody knows the battery's capacity of this phone??..i wanna know about the battery's life too..thx
To all OWNERS of the 6500 - does this phone have a hands-free speaker (how is the quality?) and does it have voice commands? The nokia website isn't clear on this, so please help.
I need your help!
Can you tell me if the n81 or the n81 8g has tactil keypad?
Have you hurd anything about those cells?
PLease, help me find the device that's made for me!
I reallly hope you will!
A,swer me soon!
Thanks you for helping me
I agree its a nice phone but,
1) Cannot get java programmes to load and run.
2) Also have delay in answering when opening slide.
3)Also have Lockout problems.
4) Best lockout is when you try to manually tune the radio and type in a 2 digit frequency instead of a 3 digit ie 089 the two digit followed by an enter shuts the phone down instantly.
Of course neither O2 or Nokia are able to give an answer.
Why do we buy this junk?
i would like to request GSMARENA to do a full review on this phone, the quality of camera and the quality of software.. TQ
can you use 3rd party headphones with a 2.5 jack or do you have to use the hs-47 headset that comes with the phone.i only ask because in one of the reviews they said that there own headphones did not work.can someone please clarify...cheers
I know pics are mostly OK. But you really think the video is good ? Look at these samples...
First of all...you guys need to quit comparing the 6500 Slide to the N95. They are two entirely different phones. Of course the N95 is a better phone, so let's stop the nonsense.
Look....this is the absolute best S40 handset Nokia makes. PERIOD. There are tons of reviews floating around, you can Google them & find em.
I made a review of this phone on HowardForums. Here is the link if you would like to check it out: http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...4&page=13&pp=15
I can get 3 days worth of use with moderate talking & texting. It has the build quality of the 8600 Luna but with much better features. It is a professional & classy looking phone. I think it the coolest phone ever made by Nokia.
The UI runs fast, the camera is great, the build is the best around.....what more do you guys want?
Everybody & their grandmother has the N95...if you wanna stand out, get the 6500 Slide.
The build on the N95 is inferior to the Slide. I love Nokia to death, but I am not a fan of how they build their N series phones. They could build em' like the 6500 Slide & no one could compete with their phones.
i have n95 for about 4months.i liked 6500 slide even before i get n95.but having the best fone in the world is some how boring after few months.u ask ur self that's it?that's the best of the best.but now i want to get 6500 slide.cuz it's the first fone i nokia made that is fashion like 8600 and functional some how like n series. but is it really worth buying? cuz i want a detailed review. and also with moderate usage how many days does it last??
