uhm.... ok, but when i open FExplorer i can c onlt C , D , E AND Z, no processes no inbox , no tasks! can u tell me which FEX u use, which version?
To Kath & evilinside,
Hi guys, i've been using this phone for more than 2 years and i'm still in love with it. But it has it flaws, no doubt about it. As for your dispute, I can only say that there different software that fix all of these problems (except for the speaker problem, i have it too, it's far too weak). For the mp3s, well, there is no way to make the phone to play such a file as a ringtone, but you can play it just for the music. In order to use it for a ringtone (yes, it's possible) there is this way: i guess you all have the Nokia PC Suite for 6600. You install it, you connect your 6600 via Bluetooth or cable (i don't know anybody who has bought that cable..it's something like 60 euro..). When you've connected your nokias you should go to data transfer and there, if you drag'n'drop a mp3 file you should be asked if you want to convert and transfer the file. In that case, you put the song on you phone in a .wav format (not the usual .wav anyway...much smaller). When you've done so, you can put the desired song as a ringtone and it works just fine. I have 8 songs on my phone, 7 of them on the card and one on the phone memory, they all work great, no problems with loading them when the person rings. As for the second problem i know something about: the memory card copying. I don't understand how people can only put files on the phone and not on the MMC card !! Do you use the PC Suite ?? If you do - doesn't it ask you for the location, where you wish to transfer the file ?? Because it asks me and whether i want - i choose the card and that's it. Nice and simple. Once i tried to use the bluetooth profile, without the PC Suite, for transfering files. Well, it gets pretty messed up, the phone directories are so many and strange and i messed it all up, so i had to reinstall my firmware, but that's not very hard to do...search google and you'll find the neccessary how-to !! well, if somebody has any problem with his/hers 6600 - feel free to write me: email@example.com
Hey kath, when you open Fexplorer, you'll see this- C: ( / )Flash,D: ( / ) Ram,E: ( / ) Disk,Z: ( / ) Rom. [Inbox] , [Processes], [Tasks].there you must open the "[inbox]" and you'll see all the data that is present in your messages inbox. You can view the data and can cut and paste it in the desired location.Anonymous
oh n also plz tell me where do i actually find the Message folder in the phone , using the explorer? Where do i copy the files i recieve via Bluetooth or IR from??
hey pple!!! thanks a lot to the guy who told me about FExplorer! This is really a great program! Almost like My Computer! So now plz tell me if it is safe to remove files stored in C drive, like sounds i dont use or things like that, n order to free space
Thanks again dude!
hey evilinside ..
finally i discovered what was the problem, thanks to ALLAH..
the password of the mmc was set on !!
thanks anyway for ur help, i appreciate this.
hey evilinside, how to send midi tones via infrared.i've tried in many ways but did not succeed, any advice?
I think you MMC has a problem try putting it on other card reader :D
true that if you compared N6600 to 6230, Sony Er K700 or even Sony Er T630. they are much better than N6600. And its true that when you transfer some music thru 6600 the only way is a bluetooth dongle or a card reader. anyway i asked some friends about what you are rantin' and they said that if you want to your phone to stop hanging, and closing apps. you can upgrade your phone but I still don't know how... anyway they also said that the software is present on the black series of N6600.
Hey guys no need of using a memory card reader for copying mp3's into memory card. All you need is an application called Fexplorer.Using that application you can copy files from the messages folder and then paste it into the desired location in the memory card.
(evilinside)ok,so i can accept my phone has a problem, like maybe theres smth wrong with the speaker, loudspeaker n the signal (but really now, did u compare your phone's speaker to a 6230, Sony Er K 700 or even Sony Er T630? Im telling u,they r much better) Still, ive also talked about:
-hotswap : if u dont have an USB Bluetooth device for your computer, the only way to exchange data is by Card Reader, cuz it duznt suport USB cable n Infrared i think ud be better off without. And even if u have Bluetooth,u still need Card Reader cuz that is the ONLY way to put a song (mp3,WMA,Ogg) on the memory card (if u recieve it by Bluetooth or IR u can only save it to Messages n so your player doesnt find it)So what im saying is,u need to take out the card to insert in into the Card Reader and because of no hot swap,u will have to close your phone pretty often (n u might get bored during the starup every time u do it :))
-RAM & processor: also u cant tell me MY phone is the only one which works slow if u have programs like WMA Plus or say PhotoAcute installed.Ive tested other 6600 n they r just the same. Im not saying these programs dont work on this device, but that they work slowly and dont work at all if opened in the same time (im happy they work at all cuz there are some wonderful applications out there 4 this kind of phones :P like the ones ive mentioned)
I was talking about 6630 before cuz i think it is much improoved. I have tested it 4a short while and wuz much impressed, especially cuz it is very fast
Anyways,i hope evilinside is right, that only my phone has some flaws,if its true, ill change mine to another 6600 n all will b good :D
evilinside .. i tried more than once, but the results were:
1- my memory card work only when inserted in phone,
2- my usb functions well when i insert another mmc other than mine.
3- my computer is also ok !! :(
when you insert you MMC on your phone does it work? if it does... your usb card reader has a problem. if not your MMC maybe corrupted or defective.
kath, really i had this phone for about 6 months now and I didnt had any problem, maybe its "your" phone that has a problem. not all 6600's are the same :D. of course there what we call factiry defects even though it passed the QC test
hello there .. concerning nokia 6600: at first i didn't like it, and i didn't wanna buy it. but at last i bought it .. and i don't regret so, coz i started to love it, it is really good and satisfies my movile needs (32mb, real tones, infrared, bluetooth,....etc) .. so i do like it.
now my question is about the memory card and the usb (the card reader):
last time i used it, it was functionning well and i installed an antivirus to my mobile, but yesterday i tried to use it: the computer can see it, but it sees it as an empty device, so it tells me (please insert a disk into drive) , although the memory card is inserted !!!
does anyone have an idea about the solution of that problem ??!!!!
hi everyone! about mp3: u can play it but theres no way to make it ringtone!! BUT wma sounds much better, specially if u convert it to low bitrate (32 bitrate songs r 4-5 times smaller than high bit n sound almost the same in the phone) u can find MP3 WMA CONVERTER program with a google search. Have fun!
