The depletion of battery on the 6630 is caused by the usage of 3G network or searching for the network. Please TURN the network settings to only use GSM signal & not 3G signal, then your battery will last about 24 hours with 2 hours talktime like mine.
Please do not use BL-6C on the 6630 bekos it will bend the motherboard of the phone by pressuring the walls of phone motherboard & the cover. BL6C is not designed to be use in a 6630.
BL5C is rated at 900mah, BL6C rated at 1050mah, a mere 150mah over 900mah = 16% more power only. BL6C does not last 50% more than the BL5C as some people claim.
I got 5pc BL-5C on standby. I will never run out of juice. In Malaysia u can get a original Nokia verified BL5C for RM60 (USD16) only.
Firmware version 3.45.113 is dated on 04-01-05 does contain many many bug fixes. I have tested it many times.
Please do read some previous posts instead of asking the same questions again & again about the RS-MMC cards. 6630 can only used the new dual voltage 1.8v-3.6v RS cards lable MMC Mobile, now made only by Kingmax & Twinmos. Its launch in Hong Kong with version of 128, 256 & 512Megs only. The speed of these cards is about 150X (1X=150k)
psyfez, are you saying ther ngage battery can be used on this phone???seems like short battery life is not only my problem....hm...
For those who have problem which keep prompting you that its not able to read the memory card, try inserting the memory card till there is a click sound... the person in the shop which i bought the phone from didnt do that for me and I always have the same error... until i bought it to the nokia shop....
Hey man its tooooooo cooooooooooool phone
I am crazy bout it
i love it
i wana have it with me in bed.
Have the same problem, battery barely lasts a day with rarely using the phone.
Left the house at 1100 A.M. and when I got home at midnight the thing started to beep! Never saw a battery drain so quick...
hey guys some good news. the nokia ngage qd battery works on the 6630 and men believe me that it lasts almost 50% longer with heavy usage. the battery is the bl-6c and it has a power of 1060mAH so thatz why, the only thing is that the battery makes avery tight fit when putting the cover back. all of ya having battery problems shud try out the BL-6C you will be amazed. ENJOY!!!
n.b: we tried this battery on my friend's 6630 and it lasted 4 days with serious gaming (ngage games) and two movies of 1hr 45mins each and also lots of mp3 music playing.
bought this phone three days ag...the only bug i found was in the themes color palltette, the color doesnt change if you change it in the pallette...I think the restarting problem is because people install lots of 3rd party apps that arent compatible with this phone.
does the 6630 able to put te normal rsmmc?? read from somewhere tt it uses special dual votage rsmmc.... thnaks
I have bought my N6630 for nearly a week... no big problem... besides the battery life is really short.... i have to charge it almost daily...does all of you have the same problem? or is it only me???can anyone share with me?
I was going to wait for the 3320 but noticed that the memory is a lot smaller than the 6630 but as its a memory card can I just use a larger memory card? Can anyone tell me which one will be better, I want the phone mainly for pics and videos so I think the memory size is important.....I am also a bit technophobic so bear with me if this seems a silly question on memory size!!
i have been using this phone for about a week now. my firmware version is the first batcj i think. dated 11-11-04. where in kl,malaysia i can upgrade my firmware? i bought an AP set, will nokia authorized dealer upgrade it for me and how much they will charge? so far i have no problem at all with the phone, everything works great except for battery life, i have to charge my battery every night but i mostly listen to mp3 for a few hours daily.
My firmare is 2.39.15 ( 11-11-04 ).
Only problem I have is this: my phone from time to time ( 5 times in 6 hour use ) trows this msg: Unable To Access Memory Card when i try to take pics, or to browse the MMC.
Only fix is to restart it, or to open MMC doors, and just close it.
Is anyone able to help?
i think it's software isue, cuz..u don't touch anything, u just restart, and it's okey, couldn't b hardware..
My phone in 2 days, restarted just once, when i've hold the ZERO ( 0 ) and started GPRS and i wanted to close it, ans somehow i couldn't and it froze and restarted.
Other then that, everything is okey!
dang!!!! life is cruel some punk stole my lovely 6630. oooooo i am heart broken. can anyone offer me another at a low price??? offers to my e-mail pls.i swear i cud kill that tif.
Settings, network settings . Only option is operator selection which is automatic or manual , no dual option settings...
While in GSM mode , phone goes to 3G mode and looks for 3G, it gets lost between the two and takes it forever to find the GSM network avaialble. Battery lasts two days at the most with moderate usage.
thks ..insider.. i'm trying it... hopefully it's works, like u said..
I agree bout the 3G thing whenever you have no signal and also my phone doesnt seem to contain anything as i saved everything including messages, applications, contacts and etc in my memory card but still my phone memory has only 7MB left thus 3MB used! I wonder where did the 3MB go?
I just wanna laugh at the adorable chubby looks of this lovable phone. It looks cute and is jam-packed with brilliant features. I have gotten my 6630 and I"M LOVING IT though it is a little large but hey, its feature-packed so why not the size ? haha cheers everyone.
To the people experiencing problems:
Do not install incompatible programs. Be cautious of viruses. Afterall it does use the latest version of the OS. Like any OS software compatibility is an issue. Make sure you have the lastest updates to your programs and dont use incompatible programs. There are various virus's on the loose which have infected some phones in various ways. Through sis files, bluetooth, internet etc.
So far the phone has been great. Does it all. My favourite phone ever. I think Nokia are back in a big way. I havent had any restart happen to my phone, it runs perfectly.
The firmware thing is a waste of time as Different operaters are working with different firmware. Vodafone for example.
Feature wise this is THE phone to beat.
