Nokia 7710 - user opinions and reviews

I have the phone for 5 days now:
pros:
- the pda functionalities are very good: nice writting support, nice calendar, office-like-software, camera, mp3 player and so on
- not so big as you think, neither heavy.
- not so slow as they say. use the switcher
- comes with the sync cable
- impressive browsing: huge screen and nice rendering
cons:
- POOR phone capabilites: you need both hands to dial, even the speed dial is not good enough: we should be able to have speed dialing associantions to press-and-hold keys. that would be GREAT.
- battery drains in ~48hrs,
- few games and software
- no good txt ebook reader;. the mobile reader that comes with the mobile cannot directly read txtx (the borwser can read, but it has an ugly display and cannot paginate and bookmark sections)
pretty nice as a small computer/internet connection, bad as a phone. dialing while driving is a mess.

As far as i know the newest firmware for the Nokia 7710 is v 4.50. And the camera is upgraded from 1 megapixel to 1.3 megapixels( 1.23 megapixels to be precise) when u upgrade to version 4.01.

Hi guys.Update from me:
I got the phone yesterdat and i must say that it is a great phone. The display quality is amazing, and the camera is very good. Even in low light the camera quality is very good. The phone is a bit slow, and the themes take forever to apply, but using the switcher application does sort out the "memory full" problem. The handwriting recognition is also the best I have ever seen on a phone/pda. It is extremely accurate and you can just write away withou having to wait for the recognition block to clear. The sound is a bit soft from the speaker, and i have yet to use the headset.But over all i must say that i am very happy with the phone. It hasnt crashed on me once, and startup is incredibly fast, compared to my 9500 and my p910i. And like I stated above, the HWR is the best I have ever used.

Witchking, How did you transfer contact information from your 6600 to your 7700.
The Nokia Pc Suites are not compatible, cannot transfer more than one contact at a time via Bluetooth.

Juz got the phone... Its a great phone i muz sae.. But there r imporvment tat nokia can do... Like Slimmer or lighter or faster processer... Aiya.. Overall its a phone tat i wan... 8/10 coz it fits my bill n solve mi alot problem... Thx nokia!!!

7710 is like a goat's phone. It doesnt have enough features as its price demands. I advice you all not to buy this phone or any other nokia hi-end phone because they just are not worth it. I'd rather buy a samsung d500, cheaper yet better.

can anyone tell me if you can check for the firmware outside the box and on the new firmware how log does it take for most apps to load up and what's new about the upgraded firmware (just interested)

Hi guys. Here's a bit of un update on the 7710. The Camera has been upped to 1.23mp and the overakk stability of the phone has been improved. I am also currently in discussion with Nokia about the future of the Series 90 platform. Will keep you posted.

you can format your 7710
after powering on, when the screen is white, pressing the function key and the desktop key and the escape key ,the follow the step ,i think you can recover your 7710 !

My Nokia 7710 isnt workin...!! i installed some game... and then suddenly there were absolutely no applications on the phone... it was BLANK!!! i tried switching it off and then On again,, but now it wont switch ON!!! what shud i do??? i cant sleep... i think i'm gonna DIE!!! please SOMEBODY help me .... ASAP... please!!!!!!!!!!

Okay i had this phone for around five month so I think am pretty well familiar with it. This phone is great i would grade it 8.5/10 as it is not slow as most say. All you have to do is install a free program called switcher and manage your RAM once in a while. One of its small problems is that it doesnt support arabic language but after rsearch i managed to make it decode arabic chars. Second problem is its size specially if you keep it in its leather cover (which comes in the box). But the wide screen advantage covers up for the excesive size. I recomend it.

I have just upgraded my phone to V 4.01 here in the philippines. I am excited to see the results but, i cannot find any changes in the config/settings. is there any way to check the specific details of changes for upgrade of the new version from old one?
