Symbianfan,

I've also moved to this phone from the (dull) 6600 and I'm also very impressed and also don't as yet find it slow at all. Camera is excellent too.

Can you tell me where you got 30 games from 9(e-mail me or post)? I will be downloading mame and picodrive today, alongside any other apps I can find. I'll post my findings here once done if I can.

    Hi All,

I just want to say, this is the best phone yet, Im from uk. I've had it a week, the interface is amazing, playing games on it is brilliant, internet is excellent. I had the 6600 before and I was keen for a step up, most phones were pretty similar. I definatle got it with the 7710.

some people find it slow. I dont find it slow at all, perhaps its the firmware.

And I've got about 30 games on board.

Listen guys you won't be dissapointed with the 7710.

I would get the O2 mini Xda 2s. It has the best reviews of the bunch. The 7710 is slow in use and unstable so I heard. I have it and its fine so far (in fact its amazing!) but the O2 has much better reviews. Depends what you want it for.

As for the MAME roms, I will look into this and when I suss it out I will let you know. I know using MAME on the PC, that you have to put the ROMS in a specific directory. DO a search in GOOGLE if you want and you can find guides by people who've already done it.

Using it for almost a week now. Yes it hangs, but nothing serious. You'd still stare at it lovingly when it hangs.

Its a bit slow but does wonder to your phone bills as you tend to sms and make calls only when its necessary. Its the best solution to kicking the very bad habit of sms'ing while driving.

Emails and documents are now a joy to read. Internet is easy to set up and displays impressively on the screen.

Touch screen and handwriting recognition is a lot better than my sony clie ux50 (one of the most advanced gadget last year...obsolete today). While on the subject of wi-fi which is built-in inside the sony ux-50 let me confess to you something very useful. I only used it twice in 15 months. Whenever the need arises for me to check the internet, i was not within a hot-spot coverage. Now with the 7710 the entire Malaysia is a hotspot. As long as there's a mobile connection I can check the internet. Information at you fingertips or surfing when you're bored. I mostly connect to the internet now to show-off to my friends.

Transferring files between computer to 7710 is quick and realiable. So far have only encountered problem with powerpoint files, if size is too large (9mb) the phone will try to trick you into believing that the data is corrupted. How cute is that!

My advise to all would be buyers: Go to the shop and ask them to let you play around with the phone for a bit, insert your current sim-card and enjoy yourself. If you're happy buy it. What matters is that you're happy now.

Find a phone that will make you happy now and know that which ever model you choose..1 or 2 years down the line it will be time for you to upgrade. So why worry. Ok time to look at my phone before i go to sleep. Hope this helps...all you undecided ones. Oh by the way managed to watch the early press preview of Star Wars : The Revenge of the Sith. Its moe in tune with Star Wars as we once knew it. Great stuff!

Quick question for anyone who is lurking.

I'm about to buy the 7710. Can anyone tell me if the battery life really is so bad it dies after 2.5 hours? I read that on a post, but have not heard it from any other sources. ANything else I should know about it? I know its big, slow, crashes at times, is slow at sms, is awkward at phone calling and has little software for it. Also can it play movies properly?

Any quick response would be appreciated. Otherwise it will be too late. :)

                  Cheers

I should have read more of the posts before I did my replies...

The 7710 will read and edit Excel and Word Files. It will not read some of the graphics in complex Word files or bullets.

As for games. MAME and picodrive both work on it. The first runs all the arcade classics (space invaders etc) and the second runs sega mega drive games (without sound). There are very few apps available, but look at my-symbian.com for a list of 18. It will also run some s80 software.

The phone can take up to 1gb cards for sure. Against the 6630, I would say it depends what you want. 6630 is faster, 3G and has more software available. 7710 has a radio, bigger screen and PDA functions.

If you want an intelligent phone get the 6630. If you want a PDA / media machine, get the 7710. I have the 6600 and I found the screen a pain and the machine just too boring.

No it doesn't come with the ability to watch tv programs. They are trialling this, but only in Norway? and Oxford and you need the Nokia SU-22 Streamer to get it to work. It will not become widespread as far as I'm aware.

                            hii,

I got this perfect handy only for 3 days but i really like it It is COOL :)

Only problem is there is nothing for the user to take notes directly by drawing on the screen as possible with SonyEriccon p910i

does anyone have an idea? Please also send your response to my email, thanks.

thos phone in my opinion is quite good the best thing about it could be the great speaker for the mp3 files and the screen because it contain more pixels in the one square cm about 5170/cm2 this will make the resolution much better than any other phone but over all u can guyes wait for the new N90 witch i guess will have more pixels in the square cm and better video viewing due to the 256K screen.

Can someone please tell me if you need to use the playlist for MP3 as you do for Nokia 6230. Because using playlist is a pain, would be easier if you just copy and paste into folders. Is this the case for 7710. Another thing is, it is stated I read it will take up to 512MB mmc, is that right or can it take up to 2GB.
