reversible, 14 Dec 2019I think people are perfectly satisfied with the prospects of Nokia 7.2.a lot of fuss has been ... moreI think you have shared your views to clear the doubt's of readers and future prospects of Nokia 7.2. Hence, may I request you to clear something more. Instead of appraising Nokia 7.2, you have indirectly admitted and justified the weaknesses of Nokia 7.2.
1. As you've agreed upon about the prevailing fuss about the chipset used by Nokia 7.2 by comparing it with 665 and 675, may I know is 660 definitely superior to 670 SOC.
2. Since there is a lot more to a mobile device than its build quality, let us focus on the camera front. We everyone know the proficiencies of Zeiss Optics. Is the camera of Nokia 7.2 is on par with Nokia 950, since Nokia 950 too incorporates Zeiss Optics. Moreover, since you've admitted that Nokia 7.2's camera is on par with its Chinese rivals THOUGH NOT SUPERIOR, what does the Zeiss branding actually mean.
3. Since, every Nokia is an Android One device, it (Android One) doesn't build up more on Nokia 7.2.
4. If Xiaomi Mi A3 has lost to Nokia 7.2 because of its 720p display, what would had been the state of Nokia 7.2 if Mi A3 had the specs of Xiaomi CC9.
5 Just because you dislike Samsung One UI, doesn't justify One UI is bad.
6. Everyone knows that the sole Unique Selling Proposition of Nokia devices is its Android One licensing. Hence, this shouldn't become the privilege/factor in defending everything they do. Consumers do have choices like the Mi A3.
To end up gracefully, I'm not a hater of Nokia. To be honest my first 4 mobile devices was Nokia. I've dealt things here to help them with my feedback and suggestions to better serve the society, without which their existence becomes questionable. A good friend is the one who helps to correct the mistakes done. I do Wish Nokia to flourish better than the best.
I think people are perfectly satisfied with the prospects of Nokia 7.2.a lot of fuss has been raised over the use of a so called inferior chipset by 7.2.now this has been proved that SD 660 is better in GPU than SD 665 and it is superior to SD 675 in CPU allowing for a minor improvement in battery life.i think GSm arena showed a little acumen while reviewing Nokia 7.2 giving it ranking of just three.moto g8 plus despite its ordinary plastic build is given ranking of 3.5,when it cannot take a photo with its ultrawide cam (stand-alone).battery charging time of both sets being the same, and chipset being almost similar performance wise,I think Nokia 7.2 's array of cameras a little better due to certified Zeiss optics both in selfie and rear cameras output .anyway here are my findings about Nokia 7.2 after a month of use .1)the build quality of Nokia 7.2 is far better than other smartphones in this price range especially realme 3 pro,Huawei y9 prime 2019,and Moto g8 plus.2)the stock android on Nokia 7.2 is smoother, more fluent and easier to use than color OS and emui and is a little ahead of Motorola stockish version (because gesture support is around the corner for Nokia 7.2 within days to be upgraded to android 10.3)cameras on Nokia 7.2 are at par with the realme 5 pro and g8 plus, redmi note 8 pro, redmi note 8 ,if not superior.4)in design and handset feel redmi note 8/pro,are a little at disadvantage because Nokia oozes a premium Ness which is hard to find on redmis.5)in price to value ratio no other set claims to be rival of Nokia 7.2 other than redmi note 8 pro but miui of redmis is a matter of personal preference, choice and taste and I m partial to pure android as Google intended it to be.xiaomi mi A3 loses on 720p granulated screen, although amoled one and Vivo S1 4gb in our market notwithstanding an amoled screen has a heavy foutouch skin is not for the android purists either .Samsung galaxy a 50 and a50s are a bit costlier ,don't exactly fall in price category of Nokia 7.2,personally I don't like Samsung UI because of its heaviness and ram hogging issues although Samsung is trying to improve it for the last couple of years.4)other companies no doubt are promising updates and upgrades but they don't give the solemn pledge.nokia is providing a guarantee of three years of monthly security updates and two major os upgrades to their line of android one handsets.this ensures keep getting better device and this is praise worthy especially in entry level and lower mid-range.5)battery on Nokia 7.2 is ai assisted and good for one whole day if not two.
Nice looking phone - performance wise i am not satisfied, it has some built-in faults which cannot be fixed.
DeviousDru, 06 Dec 2019I checked everywhere, i still cant even find a decent cover as yet...Are you talking about a cover or glass screen protection? My 7.2 came with a cover. I found many glass screen protections on Bidorbuy, Amazon and Ebay, but none in the local stores. Still doing some research
Hokui, 06 Dec 2019Hello everyone what's up? I have Nokia 7.2 and I highly recommend this device. My wife has... moreI have a 2.1 and upgraded my primary phone from Blackberry Priv to 7.2. Yes the 7.2 is nice.
My Final thoughts...
Why Nokia fail to compete aggressively? Where the devil play its part? Is it because of Chinese rivals?
Firstly, the mobile market has gone saturated. The market is flooded with plenty of variants from different manufacturers. To accept things honestly, the Chinese rivals are highly competent. Let us take Xiaomi's Mi A3. Everyone knows that Mi A3 is an exact copy of Xiaomi CC9e. Just guess the sales of Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 8.1 presuming Mi A3 was released with the specs of Xiaomi CC9 ( which would've become the ultimate BUDGET Android One phone of the world for the time ). Consumers are highly informed and the time have come where Product Management has to be geared up over Marketing Management. To my belief, too many cooks spoil the broth. This is not only the state of Android and Google but to individual manufacturers. Every manufacturer should adopt the Product Management Strategy of OnePlus, Pixel and Apple. Just one or two flagships and one or two budget device(s) would suffice. More importantly Android support to individual devices would become easier if this Strategy is adopted. We need not have to feel shy to copy the good from others since we have copied everything from our forefathers.
Design and aesthetics matter. When we compare Nokia 7.2 and 8.1 with their Chinese rivals, the Chinese rivals look more appealing. ( We have to admit this honestly and gracefully ) Nokia 7.2 employs wider bezels on all sides comparatively to their Chinese rivals more notably on its left and right. Being a Notch display this looks really ugly, which ultimately murders its build quality honestly.
As far as camera is concerned it doesn't live up to the expectations of Zeiss which ultimately spoils the credibility of Nokia and Zeiss as a whole. The quality of Zeiss Optics can be very well experienced in older mobiles like Nokia N9 and Microsoft's 950, 950xl.
Coming to the hardware specs. Is Snapdragon 660 a bad processor? Definitely NO. But, is an outdated processor. Consumer tastes and beliefs has to be accounted for when framing a Product Development Strategy. Though everything from the books of Management is followed by every manufacturer, they fail to justify things accordingly to the present state of Market and competition.
Lastly Pricing. Apple prices their products higher not only because of quality and brand value but there is no one else to compete in their segment and there are takers. Moreover, Apple supports their devices for a span of five years. They have created a world for themselves where no one can enter. Apple has achieved the state of ROLEX in the mobile market. But, Nokia hasn't attained and can't attain the Brand value of Apple at any point of time but can keep up their attained Brand Image by playing wisely. Though HMD and Android One can give justifications to their Pricing Strategies, do they really win. Nokia is getting its share of bread only just because it is Android One. Xiaomi prices their products aggressively in India just because they have their manufacturing facilities in India. If Nokia wishes to compete they have to follow the same suit.
Everyone has got their own excuses. All that matters is victory and not mere justifications.
AnonD-709626, 07 Dec 2019I bought nokia 7.2 today, why nokia 7.2 don't show 4G+ as i use airtel sim which supports 4G+Some handsets don't show 4g+ like huawei model. Samsung shows 4g+. Don't worry your Nokia handset is completely working fine.

What is Nokia doing with their phones, cant they make super amoled display like lumia branding phones. They should use super amoled their phones to fight back, otherwise thay will be fail again.
My Honest comments on HMD/Nokia phones:
I think 2018 was the most successful year of HMD as they launched: Nokia 5.1 plus, 6.1 plus, 8.1 on 2018 which were great device and sales figure shows that... And then Idk what was their strategy on 2019 as they keep realeasing devices that used a year or two old processors and tech... I don't really know.. but as much As they gained on 2018 they lose on 2019... Nokia 7.2 and 6.2 but were very dull device as per compared to price to specs ratio...I really think Does HMD even trying to be no. 1 again? I question... With these poor device realeases, I don't think so... I really hopefully think and cheer for nokia but everytime they announce their device I get dissapointed.... They need to wake up.. If they really want to be top again they need to step up their game and need to beat those Chinese brands first as they have an advantage, advantage of 'Brand' nokia... If they even release something which have specs on par with chinese brands, I think people will definitely prefer nokia... If don't then we must assume they must be chinese consumer as Nokia has such a big impact back then in phones market..
Hello everyone what's up?
I have Nokia 7.2 and I highly recommend this device. My wife has Nokia 2.2.
DeviousDru, 05 Dec 2019I also got mine from Cell City Gateway, no one including MTN, Voda or Cell C had this device Yes very weird. I`m glad it comes with a cover. Do you by chance know where one can get glass screen protection preferably the one with rounded edges that covers the glass 100%? I am in discussions with a bidorbuy seller located in Durbanville, but their bad reviews are putting me off

Carol, 27 Nov 2019So let me guess, you bought it from Cellucity, then asked Vodakom for information? Just asking... moreYes I got the device from Cellucity as Vodacom did not have any in store. The weird thing is Vodacom supplies Cellucity and it is a Vodacom contract device. Basically Vodacom do not offer any dual SIM devices whatsoever. Not sure if it is their policy.
