DeviousDru, 06 Dec 2019I checked everywhere, i still cant even find a decent cover as yet...Are you talking about a cover or glass screen protection? My 7.2 came with a cover. I found many glass screen protections on Bidorbuy, Amazon and Ebay, but none in the local stores. Still doing some research

My Final thoughts...

Why Nokia fail to compete aggressively? Where the devil play its part? Is it because of Chinese rivals?

Firstly, the mobile market has gone saturated. The market is flooded with plenty of variants from different manufacturers. To accept things honestly, the Chinese rivals are highly competent. Let us take Xiaomi's Mi A3. Everyone knows that Mi A3 is an exact copy of Xiaomi CC9e. Just guess the sales of Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 8.1 presuming Mi A3 was released with the specs of Xiaomi CC9 ( which would've become the ultimate BUDGET Android One phone of the world for the time ). Consumers are highly informed and the time have come where Product Management has to be geared up over Marketing Management. To my belief, too many cooks spoil the broth. This is not only the state of Android and Google but to individual manufacturers. Every manufacturer should adopt the Product Management Strategy of OnePlus, Pixel and Apple. Just one or two flagships and one or two budget device(s) would suffice. More importantly Android support to individual devices would become easier if this Strategy is adopted. We need not have to feel shy to copy the good from others since we have copied everything from our forefathers.

Design and aesthetics matter. When we compare Nokia 7.2 and 8.1 with their Chinese rivals, the Chinese rivals look more appealing. ( We have to admit this honestly and gracefully ) Nokia 7.2 employs wider bezels on all sides comparatively to their Chinese rivals more notably on its left and right. Being a Notch display this looks really ugly, which ultimately murders its build quality honestly.

As far as camera is concerned it doesn't live up to the expectations of Zeiss which ultimately spoils the credibility of Nokia and Zeiss as a whole. The quality of Zeiss Optics can be very well experienced in older mobiles like Nokia N9 and Microsoft's 950, 950xl.

Coming to the hardware specs. Is Snapdragon 660 a bad processor? Definitely NO. But, is an outdated processor. Consumer tastes and beliefs has to be accounted for when framing a Product Development Strategy. Though everything from the books of Management is followed by every manufacturer, they fail to justify things accordingly to the present state of Market and competition.

Lastly Pricing. Apple prices their products higher not only because of quality and brand value but there is no one else to compete in their segment and there are takers. Moreover, Apple supports their devices for a span of five years. They have created a world for themselves where no one can enter. Apple has achieved the state of ROLEX in the mobile market. But, Nokia hasn't attained and can't attain the Brand value of Apple at any point of time but can keep up their attained Brand Image by playing wisely. Though HMD and Android One can give justifications to their Pricing Strategies, do they really win. Nokia is getting its share of bread only just because it is Android One. Xiaomi prices their products aggressively in India just because they have their manufacturing facilities in India. If Nokia wishes to compete they have to follow the same suit.

Everyone has got their own excuses. All that matters is victory and not mere justifications.

My Honest comments on HMD/Nokia phones:

I think 2018 was the most successful year of HMD as they launched: Nokia 5.1 plus, 6.1 plus, 8.1 on 2018 which were great device and sales figure shows that... And then Idk what was their strategy on 2019 as they keep realeasing devices that used a year or two old processors and tech... I don't really know.. but as much As they gained on 2018 they lose on 2019... Nokia 7.2 and 6.2 but were very dull device as per compared to price to specs ratio...I really think Does HMD even trying to be no. 1 again? I question... With these poor device realeases, I don't think so... I really hopefully think and cheer for nokia but everytime they announce their device I get dissapointed.... They need to wake up.. If they really want to be top again they need to step up their game and need to beat those Chinese brands first as they have an advantage, advantage of 'Brand' nokia... If they even release something which have specs on par with chinese brands, I think people will definitely prefer nokia... If don't then we must assume they must be chinese consumer as Nokia has such a big impact back then in phones market..

DeviousDru, 05 Dec 2019I also got mine from Cell City Gateway, no one including MTN, Voda or Cell C had this device Yes very weird. I`m glad it comes with a cover. Do you by chance know where one can get glass screen protection preferably the one with rounded edges that covers the glass 100%? I am in discussions with a bidorbuy seller located in Durbanville, but their bad reviews are putting me off

Carol, 27 Nov 2019So let me guess, you bought it from Cellucity, then asked Vodakom for information? Just asking... moreYes I got the device from Cellucity as Vodacom did not have any in store. The weird thing is Vodacom supplies Cellucity and it is a Vodacom contract device. Basically Vodacom do not offer any dual SIM devices whatsoever. Not sure if it is their policy.

I was strongly attracted to Mi A3. I even made up my mind about the low-res screen in favor of it's better battery and camera sensor...
But using gsmarena's photo comparison tool (in the low-light mode), I realized Nokia 7.2 can deliver really nice detail. Yes, the results are very over-sharpened and yes, click on the paintbrushes and you'll see blown-up highlights but just compare the photos to Pixel 4 and iphone pro max...
