I am so confused on whether to buy Xperia XZ1 or Nokia 8. I am a very light user, camera very rarely used.
I want a phone which is sturdy, with good no of updates given.
Nokia known for its sturdy phones and they still continue to produce sturdy phones that CAN SURVIVE MULTIPLE FALLS, at an affordable price. This one of those rare phones that give a 2K display at a price lower than 30k. Many reviewers say a 2K display is overkill for a relatively small phone but believe me the color density is far superior than the 1k display. The phone is awesome overall but there is a REALLY SERIOUS CON about this phone:
The back has ABSOLUTELY ZERO GRIP and since the EDGES ARE CURVED INWARD it causes SEVERE STRAIN in your hand. So a case with a good grip is a MUST. Preferably a rubber-silicone transparent case that doesn't ruin the looks of the phone. AND while buying the case LOOK for cases that DONT COVER THE BUTTONS or have button covers with not much thickness. I'm saying this because since the edges are curved inward the buttons also are slightly inward so most cases will fail to connect with the buttons and you will have a hard time pressing the buttons which will cause another kind of hand pain.
Another con is that SELFIES ARE MIRRORED and there's no way to change that other than manual editing. The option 'Save image as previewed' which is available in most phones is absent. And since the image processing of the Nokia Camera app SUCKS you need to download a Google Camera port which is available readily in internet. (Its called "GCMod5")
To get fully satisfied with this phone you REALLY BADLY NEED A GRIPPY CASE. There are so many pros for this mobile though. But what I'm really impressed with is the Front Fingerprint Sensor. Unlike the back fingerprint sensor of many phones this will detect your finger even when there's sweat on your finger as it is incorporated onto the screen. It is so damn accurate.
Bottomline: This phone is a no-brainer buy at this price range PROVIDED you buy a grippy case along with it or else you'll have to suffer till the next delivery date.
Not bad for cheap phone, screen scratched after two weeks, i even do not know how it happened. It looks like that every next Nokia make device worst and worst. I think that next phone will be something better in case of material quality.
Awful Customer service from Nokia. Phone unuseable due to microphone problem. People cannot hear you speak without loads of noise wherever you go. Nokia not interested and blame it on the signal. Even previous phone works fins. Hideous. Avoid.
I'm currently looking into this nokia 8, and I am kind of worrying if the nokia 8 2017 have the ability to be updated to more future version of android (after 8.1). Anyone have any information about that ?

Anonymous, 23 Apr 2018What's the best deal between nokia 7 plus and 8(2017).... I'm planning to use it for 2,3 years... moreI am not the owner of Nokia 8 but I read many articles and YouTube videos and come to the conclusion that Nokia 8 (2017) is better than Nokia 7 Plus. The only place where Nokia 7 Plus excel display types 18:9 panel and battery efficiency. But Nokia 8 (2017) having a QHD very sharp display and very competent camera front as well as back.Portrait pictures taken by Nokia 8 is among the best. And Overall performance of Rear and Front camera is very good and better than Nokia 7 Plus.Nokia 8 (2017) having liquid cooling system and is very useful features if you are a hard-core gamer your Phone will not heatup and will perform throughout without compromising chepset performance (due to heating the chepset will downgrad it's clock speed).Liquid cooling feature is very useful for the battery health.Nokia 8(2017) is available at 28K only due to its older types of display 16:9 aspects ratio. But QHD display on Nokia 8 (2017) is very sharp and among the best display and is better than most of the Amoled display viewing angle and sunlight readibility is at the top notch.
Thank you all for helping me. I will get my hands on this cool device soon!
Do anyone know what kind lg panel used on nokia 8?. Why in my fb gr someone complain about ghosting like lg v20 on them phone
Planning to buy one.. can any one confirm if nokia 8 is going to get the pro camera app released with 7 plus

What's the best deal between nokia 7 plus and 8(2017).... I'm planning to use it for 2,3 years.... price is almost the same.... please help me out !!!
Mine arrived a few days ago. It has good spevs, perfect amount of storage and runs quickly. Build feels nice, not too light and has a nice smooth feel to it.
v.k.n, 20 Apr 2018How is the camera after oreo? Good enough for casual shoots? It's good for casual shooting but not flagship level by a long shot.although to be fair it costs half the price of a new flagship phone
AnonD-725644, 22 Apr 2018Thank you for the comment. One last question, i haven't used Stock Android phones till now. Wh... moreYeah don't worry. Everything will work just fine for you. And you have a whole play store in case if you need any additional tweaking. As i said in the earlier comments,
Nova launcher (pro version) - to customize the looks
Mx/VLC/Kmp - to watch movies
Es explorer (pro version) - not necessary, but it can improve the file browsing experience
SwiftKey - in case you don't like G board
It's ANDROID thankfully. You own your phone, you decide which apps you have in your phone.
And by the way stock android may be the reason why nokia 8 is faster than Samsung galaxy s8.
One thing to remember, there's something with the RAM management. Sometimes apps get closed in the background if you don't use it for sometime. I mean like for example, if you pause a game and minimize the app and when you try to restart it after a few hours, it might get refreshed (without going directly into the place where you paused the game). And i think it's done to save the batery. And the batery management is better than most androids i think.
Let's say you sleep with like 85% batery, it'll remain at like 83% or 82% due to the batery management feature.
It's not annoying(not for me) bcos i play online multiplayer games most of the times and they cannot be paused right? ;)
And don't worry, apps won't get closed when your frequently swtiching between them or when your using them... It's something like a smart app closing system to save batery sort of thing...
AnonD-725644, 21 Apr 2018Thank you for replying back, the 2nd question was
In the specification of the phone, Networ... moreLTE - A (A for Advanced) is a developed version of 4G i think. Here in my country LTE speeds are limitted to like 100mbps. So i couldn't get to experience the 450/50 (downlink/uplink) speeds.
And I'm still not sure if I understand your question well. But I'm pretty sure 3CA is something realted to LTE-A and not related to GSM. It might be something related to internet speed capability and i think it's very fast :D
