I'm thinking about whether or not to buy this phone. I have a question for those who have this model - Is it possible to install Symbian^1 (s60 v5) applications on this model? Or is only limited to Symbian^3 (belle os)apps and games???

John, 27 Mar 2013anonymous from mjPY. Respect Ur Views But Kindly Do 1 Thing make a skype video call from nokia... moreno but fring is an option, I was talking about things that actually can't be done and not the ones done in different ways. The latest version of android I played with was 4.1.2 and I didn't find something innovative or usefull in it, that's why I asked that question, maybe someone who lives day by day with an android found important things that could be done only on it...

Do you think that I should buy... moreyou should consider 808(maybe a lot of the answers you'll get from here will tell you that:)). Symbian won't dissapear - Nokia will support it until 2016 unlike many versions of android which are quickly forgotten...

What I said ear... moreYes, xactly i've noticed the same thing in my N8 when it was lets say "squeezed" (very squeezed:) )or as you said pushed heavily,(when my N8 was running PR1.1) at the beginning when i've bought it 2 years ago. But as you said, not often, and nothing else, no malfunction at software nor at hardware. I didnt knew that Symbian has this "tricky-clever" behaviour. Thank you a lot for the info and have a nice day:)

12xu, 27 Mar 2013Good morning my friend, i didn't know the utility of this.... Well my friend I think restart is useful especially in case of hang or lag.

What I said earlier is basically telling that my phone has restarted itself a few times in the past, especially when I push my phone in a heavy usage. But this doesn't mean that my phone is broken or there's something wrong with it. I guess it's a kind of Symbian's inner working mechanism.

But in case if a phone keep restarting so soften, it is better be fixed in Nokia Care.

j808 Dubai, 26 Mar 2013Hi all 808 fans,I am in a worry that i was planning to buy nokia 808 in april 1st week from Du... moreIf you're a camera and multi media lover don't hesitate to buy this phone. In fact the majority of 808 owners in this blog are satisfied with their phones.

Don't worry so much about OS and allow me to share a little bit about it. If our prime consideration is only about OS, we will easily find that all phones are already dead within 2 years time (regardless of what brands and OSes those phones are running).

The perfect example are HTC Desire, Desire HD, Sensation, Sensation, SE Xperia 10,Arc, Samsung Wave I,II, III, SGS I, SGS II, Motto Droid, Milestone, all Blackberry phones OS 5,6,7, all Lumia WP 610,710,800, and 900. These phones along with with millions other phones all over the world are already "DEAD" in terms of OSes (meaningly, they cannot be upgraded to Keylime Pie, New Dead BADA, iOS6, BB 10 and WP8). This is a fact, not a personal interpretation.

Unles we are satisfied with a particular phone, we simply have to buy a brand new phones so often every quarter, every semester, every year or two (as the only means to get the lattest OS). Not everybody can aford it and it is not necessary.

I don't see any problem with Symbian Belle FP2 in 808 because it is a very capable OS and on par with all other OSes.

So don't worry about Symbian, Belle is on par with all other OSes. It is still very much alive now and I think Belle can stand the test of time for several years to come. In fact all Belle phones are felt like brand new now. Nokia has promised to maintain Symbian until 2016.

If we have money in the future we can buy newer phones to replace our Symbian phones. As for me I'm satisfied with my 808 PV and I intend to keep it for a long time as my personal collection. It is an icon of technological and innovation breakthrough. It's a complete all rounder phone, awesome, and classic legacy and heritage from Nokia and Symbian. Cheers...

AnonD-107345, 26 Mar 2013My phone restarts from time to time. Are you guys expirience sAme unwanted restarts? Ocasional restart (but not so often)may happen in all Symbian phones. It is a typical of Symbian OS self-correcting mechanism.

So there is nothing wrong with your phone.

j808 Dubai, 26 Mar 2013Hi all 808 fans,I am in a worry that i was planning to buy nokia 808 in april 1st week from Du... moreSo let's have some serious talk:
                                        --------------------------------

1-If you are expecting to find ecosystem like you used to get in android so 808 pureview is not for you.

2-if you are gamer...808 PV isn't totally for you.

3-if you are social...Symbian belle hasn't the best experience to offer,

ex: no official flicker app and the social apps are good but not the best.

4-if you love such smart photo apps and photo editing like : inestagram, smart shoot, cenimograph, HDR mode...808 PV isn't for you.

5-if you love to have the best browser...808 pureview isn't a good device for the web experience...you can install opera mini and it doing very great job and smooth to use comparing to the default one but I can't compare it with chrome, dolphin, Firefox and android browser.

this is the disadvantage of 808 pureview as a phone and OS.

let me tell you what 808 pureview really surprises me and what Amazed me:
                                        -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1-despite the low resolution...Nokia 808 pureview has stunning screen with very vivid colors and vibrant contrast...I imagined it will be like Dos screen due to all the reviews on YouTube, but I shocked when I saw it the first time... it's sharp on camera pictures and movies beside it's the best all over the world to deliver amazing outdoor contrast under sunlight...great also at menu grid...Nokia's clear black display won't let you down...trust me.

2-the second big surprise, Symbian belle is very smooth and it will makes you feel you didn't not lose anything from android or IOS experience. you need to give it try...trust me at this point cause my previous phone directly was Lumia 800 and sure you know how it's like a butter running on hot ice so back to Symbian was a big risk...but it was the best risk for me :D

3-Nokia 808 pureview can destroy all the smartphones easily in terms of audio quality...headphones supports (Dolby plus) and 5.1 channel, it can used for DJ or home theater really... and the output is very deep and gives you loud and amazing 3D sound.

4-you get the USB OTG, FM transmitter which is really awesome features and you'll feel how they are great.

5-The camera simply is the best if you compare it to any phone or point and shoot...still a phone comparing to DSLR cause it lacks exchangeable lenses and all the professional tuning.

you can get depth of field at your portraits photos and this is mind blowing for a phone.

and don't forget that you can put it in your pocket...so DSLR losses here at this point (mobility)

the only cons. of 808 pureview's camera that it lacks OIS like lumia 920

so the night photos becomes shaky...you need to be steady well or get tripod...since you do this, enjoy the mind blowing quality of the photos, really unbelievable and bar with DSLR's quality.

                                        therefore:
                                        ---------------
1-If you can live with decent apps, games and themes and have good social integration but the multimedia and camera is your first purpose...so this phone 808 pureview a must have phone and don't waste time here ,go and get it immediately...

2-if you are professional smartphone user and the apps games and software tricks + a very good camera...then go to SGS 4 or XPERIA Z and you will have the full package (((BTW XPERIA Z photo quality is average for me, but sometimes it do decent job)))

the choose is yours...I hope I really helped you, I was just like you and faced your position...the difference that I love Nokia soooo much beside I'm the one who needs a hulk camera and video recorder in his pocket rather than anything else.

                                        Cheers my friend :)
