Man if you wanna search an app you try google it.. And one thing, nokia maps is far more reliable than google maps..

I bought my Nokia 808 3 days before in 25K in Delhi.
No doubt its a great camera phone. If you want to use phone for Camera & calling purpose, then there is no substitute of this.
But as my experience with this phone is not good regarding apps & other functionality.
1. Its not stable freezes at least twice in a Day. Specially if you are using Nokia Store on 3G. Today morning it happened 4 times with me back to back.
2. No google map for it, it doesn't work for FP2 at all, I tried all that tricks Data Network, Wifi or Both ...
3. No back button is annoying, to go back u have to tap then click on back.
4. I didn't find any task manager for it yet that show ram usage & service so you can terminate then individually.
5. Native web browser is very bad, hangs itself also cause the whole phone to hang. U need pull battery every time it freezes.
5. No desktop flash support.
So guys I don't hate Nokia or Symbian, but if u are looking for a phone for surfing internet, gaming, gadgets, fast & smooth UI, big battery backup then Nokia 808 is not for U.
Its my own experience about this phone
I'll recommend this phone just & just for Camera that has no match right now on the planet in Mobile phones. that's it...
Thanks
Please suggest me some usefull apps for this phone, like for task killing, satellite map etc.
thanks again...
AnonD-78184, 19 Nov 2012thnx mate for answering my questions. I am using belly fp2 and downloaded google maps from m.g... moreI can assure you that Google Maps should work on your 808. Just make sure you have mobile data connection with your service provider. It doesn't work on just wifi anymore. Try another 808 with a friend of yours with Google Maps.
Also, if satellite imaging is of utmost importance to you, Nokia Maps has that covered, too. You will also need data connection for that, too. Unless, you have loaded maps you need most, you can also use it in offline.mode.
I like using Google Maps and sometimes I need it, too. But Nokia Maps is more than enough for me.
And if you really need Google Maps badly, get an Android phone. Google owns Android and you will have full access to latest Google Maps more.

I am using belly fp2 and downloaded google maps from m.google.com . In my n8 google maps working just needed to switch wifi on but now i sell that for 808 . Please tell me any solution if u know (otherwise i have to go for androids).
AnonD-78184, 19 Nov 2012hi friends,
is there anyone who is using google maps on this mobiles coz i am unable to do so... moreGoogle Maps still works on my 808. Actually I'm surprised it does work. Make sure you have wifi and mobile data on. Most importantly, make sure you have data connections with your SIM provider. Won't work solely on wifi anymore.
Also, Nokia Maps has satellite imaging, too. Maybe not as extensive as in Google Maps but works and I can find places easily on it, too.
Obviously, Nokia doesn't want you using Google Maps anymore coz they've got fantastic Nokia Maps and Drive on their own.
I buy nokia celphone since 10 years ,I have my nokia 808 pureview too weeks ago. ,and i am very happy with this because its a very great smartphone, good job nokia ,please dont stop symbian

VIC , 18 Nov 2012I have been using my brand new 808 for a week now and so far no major problem at all. Bought a... morei had my 808 for 2 months already and i'm planning to buy nokia lumia 920.. I think borth were really great.. So far i'm so happy with my 808.. It's really a great phone.. :))
I finally bought my Nokia 808 Pureview.
It really ROCKS!
Very satisfied.
Its N8 on asteroids. Its such a worthy upgrade!
For those who uses cellphone to make calls, listen mp3, and take photographs, its just the best phone on the market.. I agree that it doesnt have many apps like ios and android phones, but in all other aspects, its a LOT better.
Im not an ios or an android hater. I already had an SGS and an iPhone. Websurfing, working or reading for a long time on an 3", 4" or 5" screen is NEVER confortable. So, I always stick with my iPad on the bag, wherever I go.
For life experience, this cellphone is really outstanding. Listening music, taking photographs and recording videos has never been so fine. But if you, instead, prefer a virtual life with many many many apps that will take your lifetime, I think its not worthy.
Im going to write a more detailed review soon. Thanks all of you that helped in my choice.
I had it for six months, then it feel on a rock, I took it to Nokia, and found out that the mother board was broken inside, I miss it :( and want it back !! best mobile I have ever had .
What Is The Expected Cost Of The Handset
Carol, 17 Nov 2012Kind of agree with you! They ditched MeeGo/Maemo and symbian... the systems that crappy androi... morei think finally Elop is gonna sell Nokia to microsoft.
Every other competitor now has started manufacturing windows phones and even they provide at reasonable price not like nokia. They adopt skimming price strategy. You won't believe Nokia launched certain phones in 'INDIA' at prices
1. Lumia 800 for Rs. 29999
Now it's available for Rs. 18999
2. 808 PV for Rs. 32500
Now it's available for RS. 24999
Both launched in 2012
So what i wanted to say is why don't nokia price right to achieve customer satisfaction.
Customers never buy nokia phones soon after it's launch cause the prices are subject to decrease as per tradition and finally they opt for a crap android.
I got 603 for Rs. 14500 and soon after one mth it was priced at Rs. 11500
They even don't price the devices right so have started losing faith from their customers.
And whenever i get to read news about lumias it always has a drop test and hammer test. Does nokia sucks money from their consumers just because of their hardware and design or they have to pay much for the designer.
Again you (INDIAN) users can see that the windows based
HTC 8X will be launched for Rs. 28000
Samsung Ativ s for around Rs. 27500
N then Nokia will launch lumia 920 for Rs. 36000 (having great difference in prices)
Showing their hardware and innovation
super sensitive touch and low light performance of the camera.
What if Nokia launches 920 for Rs. 30,000 in India.
It will never do that. But will do it just after 2-3 mths decrease the price when the consumers will have aquired win8 phones from sam and HTC and no one will buy..
Many consumers are losing trust from NOKIA. I still have faith but now I think the condition for NOKIa is 'DO OR DIE'
God bless Nokia with WIN8 PHONE strategy.
vegeta, 18 Nov 2012what do say about this - http://www.tmonews.com/2012/06/nokia-808-pureview-coming-to-america-u... morei think it's impossible because i have only GSM and 3G in my mobile setting
AnonD-49266, 18 Nov 2012no you cant only GSM or HSDPAwhat do say about this - http://www.tmonews.com/2012/06/nokia-808-pureview-coming-to-america-unlocked-ready-for-t-mobiles-4g-network/
according to the article it does support 4g
I have been using my brand new 808 for a week now and so far no major problem at all. Bought a Mugen 1500mah battery and using as the main battery. I'm trying to revive my once mighty N8 and replaced the battery with the one on the 808, the BV-4D 1400mah. Fits in perfectly as it has the same dimension as the BL-4D in the N8.
My only real gripe with the 808 is that I still can't get used to the keyboard compared with the N8. I know the 808 has better keyboard layout and far more different than the N8. I still type faster on the N8, though. Which is odd, really.
This 808's the best phone for me, that's why I bought it.
Though some games like Asphalt 7 and the new Angry Birds aren't being ported to 808 and Symbian anymore. So, really lack of support and apps and games aren't really coming anymore.
That's why I'm getting the Android beast Motorola Razr i next month so I'll have of both worlds.
The 808 will always be the best phone for me, though.
AnonD-49266, 17 Nov 2012man plz stop trolling there is no more symbian phones nokia 808 is last oneI don't troll just wait and see.its meego and Symbian combine and is the last update

Carol, 17 Nov 2012Kind of agree with you! They ditched MeeGo/Maemo and symbian... the systems that crappy androi... morehi friends, ever since this phone has been announced, i have been following you guys here. you people have been really amazing!! it's been a month now that i am using this phone, thanks to you people. Common ppl are really 'sheeps' and thats how the 'marketing' works.
i have to say that really it takes a great deal of courage to follow your heart. i didnt buy N8 and i regret that a lot, N9 was just like dream. i have been using nokia symbian since N72. but after that when they shut it down, i felt like being stranded. i even used a couple of androids (i even own a galaxy s advance and it's nice) but it's really amazing how this 'single' core shoots, processes and plays over a billion pixels video without any hiccups. till date my phone didn hang even once and mind you, i dont close the apps, they run in background all the time. Still the battery works.i have also updated to FP2 two weeks back and i didnt have any problem so far.
about ppl out there, who just get to know about this phone from word of mouth, please just dont take things for granted. do your own research. just because everyone else is saying that it's bad, you shouldn't say the same before giving the thing a fair chance. just not because everyone else or your friends are buying you should buy it too. just buy what suits you based on your needs.
it's really disheartening to see nokia not putting much effort in promotion of 808 pureview like it did for n8, not at all.
lastly thanks a lot to gsmarena. you ppl post one of the most unbiased reviews unlike other sites which are either pro-iphone or pro-droid, for whom every nokia phone is jus crap because thats how it's every where. hats off to you guys!! really, keep doing the same.
