wat a grt fone amazing
My review of Nokia 808 PureView.
I had an opportunity to spend some time with this phone. This one had Symbian Belle FP1.
In terms of software, except for speed, it's not much different from other Nokia phones with Symbian Belle, which means good speed and solid performance.
In terms of hardware, I'm surprised that even though the bump for the camera at the back of the phone looks big, it really doesn't affect the usability of the phone at all. The phone itself isn't that bulky or heavy. It's comfortable enough for a one-hand use. The build quality is superb.
Camera is super-awesome, no need to say anything else about that.
The screen is excellent, viewing angles are good enough, and sunlight legibility is flawless, way better than any other phone. Oh, and don't worry about the resolution of 360x640, because pixelation can only be noticed if you get close to 5 cm from the phone. Besides, lower resolution is better for the hardware and smoother performance, since it has less pixels to handle.
In my opinion, there is only one hardware con. The ambient light sensor can't be turned off.
Software cons are only related to Symbian Belle, which is:
- Bad native gallery app - it gives you only 3 options: share, send, and delete. There is no ''details'' option. Zooming is ofcourse enabled. Hopefully this will be solved with an update or third party app
- Bad native browser - it's a bit slow, and it consumes a lot of RAM. It froze with 4 tabs opened. Luckily this can be solved easily, just use Opera instead and you're good.
There is a few more, but those are not that important to be any sort of a deal-breaker.
does the responsiveness and performance of the pure view 808 lags if the on-board storage in the phone has been used to its max limit?? as i have seen this happening in many n-series phones?? please give your views, for example if you have used 12gb out of 16gb in the phone will the responsiveness and performance of the phone be affected when compared less data storage in the phone??
boy, 24 Aug 2012why do you need an 41mp? when you can buy an dslr or evil camera in the same price with better... moreYou're joking right? A DSLR with the same sensor at this price?:))))))))))), If DSLR's will be so cheap than there would have been a DSLR storm. Everybody would buy them cause would be a trend to have one. This is how the flock of sheep's would have react at that kind of price;). They would have where them as an accessory. Made them with diamonds and carry them by the neck:-J
with the price of this phone which only has signal core & old symain software !!!
, u can buy quad core phone like samsung galaxy s3 or LG 4x or HTC one x..
who need a camera ?? you can buy a camera with higher than 41 MP for 150 $ .
so why we need to spend 550 $ for nokia 808 ??

i hope Elop will be fired soon so that Symbian and possibly even MeeGo, can be revitalized and future software support will be continued.
Everybody knows that Symbian, MeeGo, & Meltemi are intentionally ditched by Nokia's own CEO Elop in favour of MS's WP. But MeeGo and Symbian are the best Nokia's Home grown OSes.
There are nothing wrong with MeeGo and Symbian; in fact, the lattest Symbian is very capable OS. Symbian can do anything what other OSes can do and cannot do (File Transfer, External card Slot, Advance Multi Tasking, Best Battery Life of all, USB OTG/HDMI/USSD/NFC Support, Capable of acoomodating 41MP Monster Camera, FM Radio, FM Transmitter, Effecient Power Management, & many othres things...)
Phones like N9 & 808PV which have excellent design, features, and performance are GOLD and DIAMOND. They are MASTERPIECES, a fruit of research, technology, and Hard Work. These phones doesn't need help from me, you, Elop, or anybody else(or even from it's own maker - Nokia).
The truth will speak for itself. Gold and Diamond shines !! So do 808PV and N9.
Never had user experience with this phone, but so far what stands out for me is the camera - a Sony Xperia S beating camera, and I haven't tried the OS either, but that sounds interesting.... And one thing I'll say about Nokia, they're original.

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2012It has 41MP camera. What's the 38?38MP is the maximum resolution pictures you can take. Why? The senso is round, and pictures are rectangular. If you could take round pictures you could get the full 41 MP(lol, dont think so but the first part is true).
