some facts,,,pixel story
apple i phone 4s(8mp) and 808(38mp) has per pixel size of 1.4 m... moreAgreed, but the optical performance increases when you zoom in on the 808 meaning the lesser microns get more and better quality light meaning generating the "lossless" zoom.
On optical zoom though optical performance decreases when you zoom so even though the microns on larger they get less and worse quality light.
The only advantage the optical zoom actually has is that on DSLRs lenses you can zoom much further.
PureView can win any P&S though because of the sharper objects, larger pixels and more detail. Because the optical zoom on P&S camera have large losses because of aperture getting smaller components moving etc. You can achieve the same level of zoom as any P&S by zooming to full and then cropping the image and the PureView will still have more detail.
i asked nokia retailer in india.you can get your 808 in july only...well done nokia cheers.....
Rider Decade, 06 Jun 2012its 41 mp sensor..not the camera lens..Pixels are in the sensor not in the lenses... when you say that a camera is x MP what you mean is that its sensor is x MP...
xolani, 06 Jun 201241 megapixel is super cool, but it shouldn't be all about the camera. So can someone please te... moreI would say in this instance it is all about the camera. Personally what I want from a phone is a camera that texts and makes calls. This will not be the phone for someone who wants a superphone that does everything pretty well, it is a phone for people who want to be able to go out for a walk without their slr and still be able to take great pictures.
Savage466, 03 Jun 2012808 Pureview is out now in Saudi Arabia for just 1999 Riyals = 533 USD. http://www.jarirbookst... moreThis phone is not out in Saudi Arabia or anywhere else yet! some facts,,,pixel story
apple i phone 4s(8mp) and 808(38mp) has per pixel size of 1.4 microns n8 have 1.75 microns canon power shot g12(cost =35000 inr and 19mp) has 2.70 microns canon eos 60d slr(cost=90,000inr and 18 mp) has 4.30 microns canon eos 1d mark3 (cost=224000inr and 10.1mp) has 7.20 microns now pureview 808 at 8mp mode has 3.17 micron and at 5 mp mode it has 4.01 microns 2mp is enough 4 printing a 6 x 4 inch photo(around 300 dpi) 5mp =13 x10 so i think 808 is a mobile which is worth to buy ,although cant compare it with dslr but can compare it with each and every phones (((dslr have the power advantage of having an optical zoom, pureview zoom is good but the size of the microns decreases as u zoom in till it reaches 1.4microns))))
linto, 05 Jun 2012is it 41 megapixals its 41 mp sensor..not the camera lens..

this is a must-read article for everyone. the 9 things contributing to symbian's death
1.THE f... nHD resolution(symbian was stuck like this since 2008)
2.Fixed focus cameras (in the past 2 years only 2 phones carried autofocus N8 and 808)
3.DOUBLE A (basicly the first a stands for apps which very few have been supplying. the second a is for animations, and yes I feel that my nokia 700 has a dry os)
4.S40 (not that s40 devices have taken away some light from symbian, but the s40 apps are for some reason in the store, people think that symbian can't handle quality apps which is the opposite
5. Android (it took away its top spot)
6.iOS (iOS has been the second choice after android)
7. windows phone(it isn't better than symbian but nokia are caring for it cuz ppl think it is good
8.S60 (ppl who used S60 think belle is the same so the head off to other OSes)
9. the lack of evolution(android changed form single core to dual so did iOS BUT symbian stayed on single core and 256 RAM
