Any news on shutter speed on this? i mean S3 has almost zero shutter lag so if this does want to be taken serious as a phone and not just a huge camera with some mediocre phone components stuck on it has to Really play the camera card and completely put every other phone to shame, and some might call it a gimmick but simultaneous photo and video shooting is something that's on DSLRs and high end cameras and now high end Androids can also handle it, and maybe if this had dual core it could handle that.
Anonymous, 24 May 2012Simple really, Symbian's just so basic compared to Android and IOS so really doesn't need much... moreNot really. The "basics" might be the lack of circus-like effects, transitions and animations, however Symbian phones have way more options, menus and submenus than Android and iOS together. I tried them, they are like totally basic phones with minimum options and flat menus for people who get a headache if they see too many letters at once and easily get lost because they don't know what all that means. And an interface like in Symbian is better in my view, firstly because all the eye candy gets boring REALLY soon (and then you want to buy a new phone when the old one is still good, right?) and then, look at the HTC One X - it closes apps and re-starts them instead of pausing them, because HTC Sense needs so much resources for the fancy UI that multitasking suffers. And here:

...you can see a Nokia E5 running 74 apps at once.
Dula, 24 May 2012All this beautiful specs, but no document editor, no 1700 mAh battery, no 1 GB RAM. Why Why Wh... moreyou have document editor... the battery is strong enough and also the 512mb ram is enough!! first try and then talk ;)
MdN, 24 May 2012Better than the others because in the PureView mode it uses 7 pixels to create one. So even if... moreYes... And other advantage is the huuge (1/1,2") sensor!!!
Nokia 808 is similar with N9. How? Both are a threat to Lumia sales and "WP vision" and because Windows Phone can't win in a fair fight (obviously) N9 was released only in some markets with huge negative pr from Elop and 808 PureView is delayed as long as possible.
Dula, 24 May 2012All this beautiful specs, but no document editor, no 1700 mAh battery, no 1 GB RAM. Why Why Wh... moreSimple really, Symbian's just so basic compared to Android and IOS so really doesn't need much to run it, and some people would argue it's because Nokia just made a better OS, but that's just not true, it's just because it's stripped down to the absolute basics.

jack, 24 May 2012YES, nokia latest belle fp1 has a lots of improvement, says in par ... moreone word....WP

AnonD-54305, 24 May 2012Hi friends this is sandeep i have been using symbian from 2006 and i have used endless handset... moreWell,no one is forcing you.Dont buy any windows phone if you dont like, easy, then they have to make moore symbian or meego phones or they go bankrupt..
AnonD-38567, 24 May 2012Will this phone do quite well on dark/not well lighted environment?Better than the others because in the PureView mode it uses 7 pixels to create one. So even if there's not enough light, it should do good.
A lot of people here have misconceptions about Android and iPhone users thinking we just sit there playing angry birds all day or something and that's why we want more power, better and bigger screens and all the rest, but really most of us just want the best phone possible to always be able to do what we want with the phone, and i'll admit i used to have my head buried deep in a Symbian hole until 2011 until i realised Android is just better, and i always charge my phone everyday anyway so battery life isn't an issue but Symbian users always use that as their only real benefit over the rest, and Android battery life really isn't as bad as people try to make out, i mean for me moving from Symbian to Android was like switching from Black & White to Colour.
Strategiser, 24 May 2012I don't thinkNokia need to make new OS as symbian s very good, what with the last 2 updates. ... morenokia should make phones with hires/moreCores, but make single core nHD...
I'll stick with my single-core nHD because got battery life...
only Nokia smartphones are mobile... other smartphones are NOT mobile... at the end of the day you desperately need to find a plug...
do you want a mobile smartphone? or portable(not so much) game consoles with phone functions?
elho_cid, 24 May 2012Android would be very slow on this HW. Also it would be difficult to write a PureView camera a... morei am using gingerbread android phone with 1 ghz processor and 512 ram,and it is much faster than my friend's noika belle phone so i think android will run smoothly on nokia 808 phone, android is a very flexible os and that is why it still dominates the world and it still receiving major updates.
so again still hoping to see android on the nokia pure view phone
pureview 808 is meant for the adventurous kind of people. Not for the ones that have nothing else to do other than gaming and shuffling between apps. It's true, symbian is a dying platform. But there isn't anything that symbian can't really do. It's good to have a full blown browser in android but accept it, most people browse the internet though their laptops using unlimited broadbands.
People should actually be thankful to nokia that they haven't gone for the ultra restricted windows platform (no video call, no external memory card, no bluetooth transfer, no personal mp3 ringtone, zune software transfer, poor video codec suppor, etc etc) or the ultra demanding android platform. Imagine, if 808 had android, what would have been its hardware... Quadcore cpu, 1gb ram, front camera, back camera, high capacity battery, ice cream sandwich, etc etc... And it would have easily cost you 50,000+INR or $1000+. How many of you would have gone for this??
Be happy for the fact that with 808 you're getting the bestest symbian ever.
Go for it guys. Pureview 808 is a masterpiece. And probably it's the last symbian.
Show some respect for the platform that has served you for so many years.
YES, nokia latest belle fp1 has a lots of improvement, says in par with the most advanced Android and iOS platform. still in question ?? why nokia has to suddenly abandoned it (cancelling both CARLA and DONNA update programmes) and jumps over the most dangerous unproven/experimental platform to attempt self annihilation.
Will this phone do quite well on dark/not well lighted environment?
All this beautiful specs, but no document editor, no 1700 mAh battery, no 1 GB RAM. Why Why Why Nokia Experts?!!!
When is the phone releasing, eagerly waiting for it.this phone is toooo good no words for it.
