Anonymous, 18 May 2012For the same reason of who needs a dual core or quad core. No one needs this is this days, but... moreAs long as it performs well in the real-world setting, why care about how many cores a device has? Of course, faster is better, but going into overkill is not cool. Who will use that much processing power on a regular basis in a smartphone? It's not like people who own smartphones do mainstream video authoring and photo editing on their phones. As for launching applications, an average of 2 second delay at most would be acceptable. To put it in PC terms, you wouldn't buy an i7, 8GB 1600DDR3, 2TB, 580GT build of PC for Internet, basic photo editing and office applications only, right?

Multi-cores are only for those who do real multitasking, and I am not taking about the OS, I am referring to the USER. How often does one run multiple power-hungry apps, frequently switch among them, and have at least one do some processing in the background? Example: Basic photo editing, HD video conversion/processing, HD video authoring, audio processing, HD video/audio playback. That situation is where you WILL need multi-cores. For apps that don't do background processing, multi-cores are just a waste of money.

To anyone who is curious, that example I provided above is my own, which only rarely happens, and happens on my Core2Duo 2.93GhZ, 4GB DDR2 9800GT system. Slow, but not enough to make me shell out more money for an i7 system.

if only nokia had used cortex a8 or a9 processors on this phone. then we would see what symbian is really capable of.

ios has lot's of apps sure, it has good looks, but it is restricted like hell,
heck u can't "wipe ur ass" withouth apple's approval, android is like a bazaar
everything is there, but that many things clogs the streets.

symbian is simple, secure, easy to work with, and the newest versions are stable
as hell. apps this apps that? so what? i can do everything with symbian, and even
more, so what? i don't have an app that make my phone bark, or something...
symbian is great, and i hope that nokia will not give up on it.

For me it doesn't matter it's Symbian. It's the best camera phone. I know it doesnt have Android, i know its not a DSLR, but we'll always be ready to take my little boy a picture...EVERYWHERE.
Apps and gadgets come and go. Memories dont. And I dont want poor pictures Android phones take. For apps i have a PC and a laptop.
Let those kids enjoy S3. I dont care!
