Pure view has already its glory, despite the symbian trolling. To incorporate a 41 mp camera is a landmark moment! 1020 seems that can not beat 808 as many people thought and /or expected. Now regarding updates, just think how many flagships (ios-android) released less than 2 years are now abandoned and forgotten not only from their companies but mostly from their owners. Its true that N8 has had Anna and Belle but its not the same thing cause Pr1.1 (first symbian editionOS for N8 has encountered some problems, i think our friend Carol can tell us more about that, knows better also copycats of symbian in many other devices). So keep pure view-ing!

How are you, I hope you are fine, I read the news and it really makes me very sad, cause I don't agree about what Nokia have done, why very early, I don't know, but it seems that Microsoft started to unveil it's magical effects over the already dead platform, but still at the end of day no one of us will give a f*ck cause 808, N8 still have their glory and all their important apps :P
Keep Pureviewing ;)

Just read the news, ok its not the first time to hear bad news for symbian. After all these years full of trolling press (probably elop worst of all ) I will be surprised if someone had published good news for symbian. Anyway let them cut symbian tomorrow morning not 2014, really we don't care. Even N8 3 years after has more dignity respect most devices around. Take care :)

I had my friends HTC one x, S3 and iPhone 4s in hand. Really speaking iPhone was smooth and strong in spite of dual core with 512mb ram against quad core with 1gb ram. Even subway surfers have some glitches while playing in android devices. Another thing is windows phones. WP are really strong that too specially Lumias, only app store of WP are not upto apple app store or google play store. More games and apps are found in ios and android.
from all my exp with these platform I will first choose WP then will go with IOS.. If no other go then also I will opt SAILFISH of JOLLA.
SAILFISH looks promising.
AnonD-91246, 06 Oct 2013How can i install?Use the tutorial, of course at your own risk. Worked perfectly for me.

Just got updated that Nokia store will not get any new app after Jan 2014. This is simply not done.
We were being told that Nokia will continue to support Symbian till 2016 and now the death of platform coming 3 years before that. Simply not done.
Symbian support were suppose to be outsourced to Accenture developers who were to maintain the platform till 2016, now not sure without new app or functionality what these people are going to support?
To me it looks more like Microsoft's mischief.
I think time has now really come to ditch the platform and move to something new (No, I am never ever going to sell 808!!!), but 808 will be put to peace in next 2-3 months.
iOS is so closed and too tightly integrated with iTunes that it is out of my books. So most probably it will be Android to move on to (simply on the fact of apps and nothing else, till the date I hate android). Lack of apps in last 8-10 months have really hampered my work.
Long term plan includes Nokia 1020 (Love for pureview cannot simply go away) and an Android phone (Apps and more Apps) and hence keeping 2 platforms and mobiles.
Will love to hear from other friends in the forum about their plans?
I don't now why Nokia dip this very soon... I know it will be happened one day but 2014 from 2016 is a whole 2 years without a real market supporting, Means Nokia asked us with a hidden sign to switch to WP and ditch or sell or Symbian devices...shame on you Nokia for ignoring all this huge base of Symbian and meego users.
AnonD-91246, 06 Oct 2013How can i install?Think and flash delight. U can't get ur device back to Indian version OS permanently. Indian version ends .1506 where as European versions end .1508
u shld be knowing the downgrading is really tough and many has said it is not possible. So hari think and act.
but experience with delight in 808 will bring u diff feel, as if device got new life. U do as u wish brother. Take care.

Anonymous, 06 Oct 2013haha i get it but the pictures do.. So it's not really a big deal.. :D The 808 gets confused sometimes in portrait & landscape for me. I have to hold it perfectly still (even after the shot is taken) or it will save in a different mode. I have to wait until the photo goes in the gallery which is kind of annoying. Also the camera freezes sometimes taking a lot of photos (even video only happened once) & it automatically reboots, which can ruin a important shot I was hoping to get. I regret updating the software from Nokia as it didn't have this problem.
Also shots seem to have some red in them which is annoying. I know the red eye reduction helps with this but it's tiring having to take the shot again. I guess I'm just going to have leave that setting on. It's very easy to get blurry shots in low light without the flash.
A lot of smartphones seems to have this problem. When I'm filming video the video quality looks different from when it's actually saved. The quality of when I was video recording was better then what was actually saved (it was still great of course) don't know what's up with that.
Also the flash from the 808 during video recording is not as bright as my S3.

I am hoping for a major update comes before that day happens.. Anyway nokia 808 is a solid phone and worth to keep because of its outrageous camera.. I'm planning to buy mid range wp8 for back up. I still love nokia because their phones are built to last.. :)
