Have been using the phone for nearly 1 month now. The phone feels great, it's heavy and substantial & it really help considering the phone's clean lines and lack of gripping surfaces. The glass also help to brighten the LCD compared to plastic in some ways I guess. The camera is better than normal 0.3MP but I guess the 262K screen that help the most. The battey is useless though, it hardly last 16 hours. (constant SMS-ing & radio on all the time). The BLC-5X looks basically like BLC-6 chopped in half. One advise for people planning to buy 8800: buy a soft pouch + chamois as it get dirty very easily (tissues are useless to clean this phone). The 2nd battery is provided for a reason, Nokia knows this phone doesn't have long battery life especially when screensaver & bluetooth are turned on.
Tony, the phone is US is sure expensive. I bought mine for around US$800 and it even includes 2nd battery cover and free engraving.
If you are not someone special, whatever you use don't make you anymore special or exclusive !
e.g. A bagger on the street wearing a real 10 karat diamond & everyone will say it is a fake one. Get the message ?
I'm a producer in L.A. the 8800 is THE phone of the moment. In Beverly Hills they have been getting $2,800 a pop! The price of course, is coming down quickly. It is now the phone of choice for many celebs - what more can I say? I've seen a few at the "in" bars and hangouts. Very cool. The balck razor is out - even preteens have them.
The 8800 says a lot about who you are...
Hey.... Why are you discussing a 8800 when you can'tafford it. It's one of the greatest concept from Nokia. I would like to applaud the company for having the guts to go ahead and build such a solid, superb phone. Nokia 8800 is phone for ppl with class and is not for the mass. Hold it in your hands to feel the power.
It's unique and makes you feel exclusive.
for price and memory card, I would say go with the K750i. Personally, I don't think this phone's design is all that great. Fans might beg to differ, naturally....
this handset is so disapointing. it has no new features and it is over priced. dont go near it the battery life gives up after a long call.
How are you doing? From me there is no opinion jst wanted to ask if anyone can help between NOKIA 8800 and K750i which is better! WHY? plz specify and also the MP3 which is better.
The 8800 is a major leap forward in design. I challenge anyone to tell me that any other phone comes even remotely close to its feel. AMAZING!!!!
For those of you that "don't get it" or just dislike it, don't buy it. There are lots of other less expensive phones for you - even free ones with a service subscription.
US$1,000 is nothing ... a lot of people can afford it ... all they need to do is to pay with their credit card on a 12-18 months payment terms(no interest charge). But this phone is really rubbish(the phone salesman describe it as a lump of steel) ... which is why it is not selling ... there are lots of 8800 in stock in any mobile store I visit today !!!
O2 have released it already.
It is way over priced! Like it or not! not matter how elite and exclusive you think you might be - it is a fashion phone as mentioned - but most fashion phones you are actually use unlike the 8800 - Good luck to all of you Exclusive people.
I have my Sony Ericsson K750i (€439,-) for 1 week and i'm very happy with it when i saw the Nokia 8800 i was shock about the price (€850,-) and his specifications are no competition for the K750i. the K750i is just better!!!!!
I hate to sound elitist but this phone is not for the average user. One must appreciate its design, it's visceral impact... and one must be able to afford it.
You don't need a Porsche to get from point a to point b. But is is certainly more fun. The same is true of this masterpiece.
I paid $1050us and feel I got a bargin (although the 8801 will be introduced in the US in late summer for $700).
As for the complainers, I have a feeling its a case of "phone envy" - the haves against the have-nots.
