Still the best "phone" in every sense....IF.....you can get hold of one without the common software bug.
thanks ralfo, for the answer, i think i'll wait until the black version comes to france or a closer country in europe! yeah i was wondering about the gold version , but kinda looks fake, a ebay is not really a trustworthy place with that kind of items :(
thanks again ;)
i recently found out y the phone keeps turning off the firmware and battery has nothing to do with it. Its the battery and the 2 pin that connects the battery too the phone its loose and thats the reason it switches off occasionally try fixxing the pins so that the battery doesn't lose cotact with the phone.
I have had the 8800 for some time now and just want to let everyone know its a perfect phone. No problems ever. Went to Canada to see my family and it was an eye catcher and on roaming
worked again perfectly. This phone will be used for some time to come even when the market has changed. It you are thinking of getting one do it and add it to your phone collection.
I bought this phone about 2,5 months ago and it is by far the best phone I've ever had. I have had a 8810, various 8850's and two 8910's. This phone is by far the most beautiful phone I've ever had. One of my colleauges has a Vertu but my 8800 feels even better. The only disadvantages that you could mention is that the sound is not loud enough and the batteries are not really good (but you get 2 batteries with the phone). If you have the money for it and want to spend it on a phone, don't hesitate but buy one!
I hope everyone knows that when u get ur 1st phone brand new you need flush out the battery right? Like leaving ur phone off and charge it 15hrs or so before useage bcuz that suppose to start out the battery nicely and not where out as quick.
this phone is dam good looking... but my it keeps switching it self of whenever it likes.i remember the old version of the phone, when there were no cameras on phones or colour screens. that phone sucked too, nokia make a decent good looking phone
All i can say about this handset, is that it is a piece of crap. I had a customer who bought the handset, and he was back the next day cause it kept on switching its self off. The only reason people want to pay so much is because of the way it looks. Which is a bit shallow if you ask me.
I'm sorry if I was you I would not purcshase a 8800 reason because I've had one for 10 weeks now and it's been repaired 4 times now so now I am looking for another phone.
It's a very good phone. A friend told me to buy it from www.jetixtech.com . I can say that we're both very pleased. Good phone, great price. I hope I don't lose it like I lost my last phone.
Response to Tony----the 8801 is a US only version and the 8800 (silver) is sold worldwide. The black version is only available in Russian market from what I understand and the only gold one I've seen is on Ebay and don't know if it was dipped by the seller....I wouldn't trust it and it looks like krap!
hi i'd like to get a nokia 8800, i've read your opinons about the phone and it's still the next phone to have. but i saw differents versions: the normal silver, a black one and a 24k gold one! does anyone know wher i can get hold of the special editons ones and if they are real nokias, thanks
I have the 8801 for about 1 week now and have been more than happy. Lots of people like to bad mouth this phone, but is does whats its suppose to....make calls. The battery life is fine. I use the phone anywhere from 1-2hrs a day and have been charging every other day. As far as features...I can care less about cameras, games and all that krap. I need a good phone with good reception and the ability to text message from time to time. I bought this phone purely on style, size and feel. Most of the issues that people have is due to early firmware releases. I know several people that have them with no issues. If you can afford it, BUY IT!
Well, ive have my Nokia 8800 a while now...Its not a brilliant phone...feature wise its abit lacking like other phones in this series BUT
thats not to say it is bad, this phone is for those of you who like flashy slick technology that make other people stare at you while your on the phone.
Now after all that, I have just encountered the following mechanical problem.
The slide mechanism for my 8800 has jammed. The top half of my phone can be depressed but it seems as though a spring might have gone or an accumulation of dust has caused increased resistance. Proof again, that the more moving parts there are on a phone.....the greater the chance of breakage.
Nice phone, but for a top of the range nokia.....it shouldnt break after 3 months.
This Phone realy not worth it. We had this phone repaired by Nokia 4 times so far and last week again the Battery drained. What a joke. Even Nokia people say that they can not cope with the return rate for this phone. Nokia needs to rewamp their R&D.
It is really elegant and exclusive phone! High mark for the design. Moderate mark for its features.
Not suitable for people who can only call and text.
Not designed for 3G.
All i now is that i bought this phone 3 weeks ago and it is a total waste of money. The battery is crap it shuts of without you knowing. And Bec we are not all cheap if we can bye a £400 phone. Thanks Not cusing u Bec
just got mine on t-mobile had to wait ages but well worth it. love the style. only one problem cant get rid of the operator logo. i go to settings and display but it is already set on no operator logo, but its still there any help would be cool?!?!?
you should by this phone because you want it who cares about other problems if they had enough brains they would go and get it replaced and that kinda stuff...the reason y something isnt so good is because they haven't gotten the lates firmware my dads business partner has this phone and it looks great, it feel great and it calls and texts and thats what you want isnt it, also it has a camera and no doubt abit of mp3 so if you were looking at this phone get it dont change your mind i was lucky not to make that mistake i wanted an SE k750i but the w810 was due to come soon but i got the k750i and i am really glad because the w810 was going to be way over priced and dealers dont recomend them because of so many faults in the phone. that is my story i reckon you should get what YOU like not what other people think
