this phone is too expensive for what it is its features dont stand out from any other phone and why you would and to pay a small fortune for it or put or self onto a traiff that will cost you about £75 per month for 12 or 18 moths to get it for free (o2 only ones to do this) your mad do the math
£75 per month for 12 months = £900 (+ the possible extra price of the handset on top of line rental charges)
I have use the phone only for 2 month. The summary that i can give is....it really common phone but with casing that is strong as chainmil in war.
i also work for o2 and this phone is the bane of ym life "can i have the nokia eighteightthousand..." the nokia 8800? yeah... if you wanna pay over 200 for it... and dont plan on using it at all, with its oh so amazing battery life... URGH
i work for o2 in the retention departement this phone is pants!!! i get customers every day wanting this phone and moan when they have to pay for it!!!but they always end upd coughing up dont know why when they could have a nokia 6230i with better features and its more reliable DONT HAVE THIS PHONE!!!!!
" i work for o2 in there retention department and we get a lot of posers who want a 8800 just becasue of the way it looks they dont care what it does and most of these customers dont spend enough to get the phone for free so have to pay through the nose for a phone that has real bad softwear problems you may as well get a 6230i and save your self a small fortune and at least you wont be returning it after a week becasue its so rubish and has just died on you " - my thoughts exactly, i work for vodafone and we get the same problems
NOKIA 8800 HAS given me no problems. Mine has came directly with o2 I have everything set up & just put in my SIM card all settings were there.
All I have to set up is my E-mail then am good to go.
I think this phone is better than the 8910I as it has video, & real tone mp3.
Am not changing this model as have it in Black & silver.
I have to agree...here in Australia it costs $1489 outright!!!!! And you can get phones with the same features for a lot less! Shocking!
y is the nokia 8800 P30,000 in Philippines???THis phone is not good enough 4 30,000......and d design is boring
guys this phone is not over priced but if it was 5hundo lik it is in UK, this phone would be played out, i have the 8801 and everyone who saw it,loved it.Gotta see it in person to believe it.
friend of mine has owned it.. and at firstly it looked so cool... well... i thought! but as i heard the price...i was a bit dizapointed ..coz it too expensive for it quality. m still looking forward for N91...damn...why they took sooo long...what they waiting for!!
Why is this phone so over priced?????
in UK it's £500!!
Its not even that good
To Koureas G: I havenít ever seen so strong attitude like you have, the Nokia 8800 is not a perfect phone but it costs 700 usd in China that makes it worth the price for these who likes it. I donít consider it to be beautiful and I donít like the design, it could be much more perfect with the same ideas, so now changing my phone from SonyEricsson V802 I will go for B&O Serene, new Mobiado (if released soon) or Escada SL75. But why donít you stop posting the same one thing over and over again? Looks like you took it too personal, try to mail Nokia with a bomb in the letter :-)
PS: We still need to fix 8800 screen issue please provide me with instructions how can I try to reset the phone without looking at the screen, all Nokia phones must have factory reset functions hidden from users and available through secret codes.
First of all i wouldn't want to involve in a useless dialogue but i would like to give an answer to you .
I have used a wide range of phones and was an owner of all exclusive and high end/expensive mobile phones from Nokia product line(8850,8910,8910i,8800) and i assure you that Nokia 8800 is the worst phone i have ever used.Thank God i don't have this phone anymore.
I am not pretending up nothing as you false stated .I only speak with facts and through my experiences.
Like i said i try to help and inform people for Nokia 8800 major problems as an ex-owner and user of this phone and not to do the same mistake of buying this phone like i did. Nothing more ,nothing less.
I bought this phone from the first day of its release, expecting that this Nokia 8800 as an upgrade would be better from the previous 8-series models but i was wrong.Honestly this phone was a waste of money and time.
I was and am very clear in my previous posts and statements on this phone. If you want go and see my previous posts and simply READ them.
I believe that you can't realise and understand how to read properly and carefully.
That's your Problem not mine.
You are a parasite and infest people with your excuses, not me.The truth hurts and some people don't want to see it.If you like to waste your money or want to show off that's your problem.
If you want to give more than £550 for a faulty, unreliable phone that's fine,it's your decision and right to do this but don't mislead people with your cheap excuses.
PS:I want to CLEAR this out and state once again that:
I try not to convince anybody not to purchase this phone but to give usefull information as an ex-owner and user of this phone.
I bought my 8800 from Hong Kong about 2 weeks and lucky that I haven't get software problem as posted. I guess it's running the lastest ROM/flash. I ordered the 8801 back cover from NokiaUSA and I have found it's in different dimenion!!! I don't know about the phones because I have never had the 8801 in hand but the back cover of 8801 is actually thicker!!! i guess the phones sized the same but the battery. Anyone knows the different? Please post.

Until now I'm still contemplating and trying to figure out what you are trying to prove here or imply about the nokia 8800 that it has some software problems? Where on universe did you come from... Nokia is a mobile of the year! I played around did some downloading never shots down on me and never have any problems with it... To make you happy I'll tell you the very tiny downside of this phone but for the love of god its never a big deal to me.. The phone gets dirty easy.
There are you happy now? Don't write here like you really owned a nokia 8800 before.. Sorry to bust you bubble but the way you post your message here, you are nothing to me but trying hard wanna be executive "bs"ing around creature thats crawling around this site. Don't be a parasite and infest people with your false feedback. You never owned a nokia 8800!
as far as i can tell...this phone is as good as any other. The only place i've seen negative reviews in bulk is on this site. You look at consumer reviews and published reviews and they're all good. I dont understand why people are going crazy for options on phones anyways...they're to talk on and thats what this phone is for. You got the 2 batteries and that should suffice. You want a good camera, buy a 7.2 megapixel sony, you want an mp3 player, buy a 6 gig iriver. Don't expect a phone to have the best of all these things. This is a classy and stylish phone made like a phone should be made. So its expensive...Im a university student thats works in the summer only and can still easily afford this phone. I think its great
i work for o2 in there retention department and we get a lot of posers who want a 8800 just becasue of the way it looks they dont care what it does and most of these customers dont spend enough to get the phone for free so have to pay through the nose for a phone that has real bad softwear problems you may as well get a 6230i and save your self a small fortune and at least you wont be returning it after a week becasue its so rubish and has just died on you
It's your right not to believe mine and generally all the negative comments on this phone but how can you explain the majority of these indignated, unsatisfied, disappointed people reviews?
Don't give as an answer that excuse again that people can't afford it and is jealous. We have heard this excuse many-many times and it gets boring.
Maybe you are in the minority of happy and satisfied Nokia 8800 people but this is Nokia 8800 - user opinions and reviews board and not a board for people that actually want or like this phone.I only speak with facts and through my experiences.
Maybe the truth hurts and some people don't want to see it.
If you like to waste your money or want to show off that's your problem, but don't mislead people who thinking of buying this phone with that excuse again. As for me i try to help and inform people for Nokia 8800 major problems as an ex-owner and user of this phone.
If some people want so desperately to purchase it,this decision is at their own risk. So,people thinking of buying Nokia 8800 beware. In market there are better alternatives.Simple as that.
Like i said this 8800 "phone" is a waste of money and time.If you want a good looking casing more than £550 and not at least a decent, reliable phone go for it.This phone is a good looking expensive bibelot and nothing else.
P.S:As for the fanatics owners or people who likes this phone they should be real, see 8800 problems and not praise this phone without a reason to do so.
You can't criticize others because you like this phone or you don't want to see the major problems of this phone saying as an excuse that they can't afford it or is jealous.Jealous of what.Knowing that this phone has major software problems ,ie:switching off by itself and not only, definitely i wouldn't want to buy a faulty phone just because of its look.
