hey guys,i just need to say how muchi love this fone! one of the very few LUCKY 15 year olds to have one lol.the only downsides are the camer is not a mega pixel (altho once pics are transferd to a comp they dont look that bad) and that you cannot expand memory! but,i still love this fone, much better than my ''so last year'' d500! haha.happy new year people!
As many reviews said, Nokia 8800 is built for exclusivity, for people who may have another phone for business use, and this one for special occasions.. like they would wear dress watch to an event and won't use that watch to go scuba diving, they would have another watch for that purpose. People in this segment probably have an iPod for MP3, 8MP Digital camera for picture taking, and a high end PDA for scheduling appointments.. or just simply another phone, a smartphone for business use.
My complaints for this phone is not on the feature, but the usability. I have 2 complaints :
1. The extremely short battery life, it is just unconvinient for people in any segment to plug in their phones that often, or slide open the back cover and change the battery. I rather have 1 high capacity battery than 2 low capacity batteries. (although it does make sense that a V12 powered Rolls Royce would need more frequent gas station visit than a Honda Accord for the same travel distance :P)
2. What was Nokia software designer thinking ? Everytime you close the slide, it'll ask you to lock the keypad, and there is auto keyguard option too. I mean, even if the keys are unlocked, the keypad is hidden when the phone is kept in the pocket, and the 2 visible softkeys are virtually useless with the slide closed anyway.
Please post a picture and show me the 8800 Gold Edition !! I'm very intrested !!
Yes there is a gold edition 8800 - I purchased one last week while in Isreal. Very cool.
Happy holidays to all from me and my family.
This phone is designed just for stylish and high class people and want to be unique. It does not design for high tech. If you want to use a high tech phone, go for O2 Exec or at least XDA IIs. Those phone is for business use. It comes with everything u need. This phone is only for elegant and stylish people use it. I can say that this phone is great, if you are looking for stylish phone. The colour is so sharp and clear screen. The screen is scratchless. No nee to worry about the screen protector. It is just perfect for high class men
its jst an yyyyyyyyuuuuuuck no card slot even the camera is so poor i dnt expected this from nokia people at least
To be honest since I return my phone to nokia to update the latest firmware I never really had any problem with the phone since. I suggest if you do have any problem I think you should call nokia so they could fix whatever issue you might have like what they did to me.
Although I did spent over a thousand US dollars on this phone is no big deal to me at all..........but I do regret & feel cheated!!!
Looking to buy this phone, loved the previous models etc.
Has anyone had any experience of that site mentioned below?
Other than the look, this phone really has nothing to go for!!!.........So many software problem!!! I already had enough Bull S*** from this phone & I am giving up!!!
I have got this phone and love it to bitz but the phone has a rollerball system at the back when you open it.
The phone when opening leaves a scratch at the back near the camera.
I tend not to use the phone know as i paid £700 when it came out and know i feel ripped off of howing nokia can charge this for a phone which has this problem.
Yes, u deinitely can buy a phone with more features at its price, but K750 or that sagem cant be compared to this one. 8800 is an elegant business class phone, while the others are..toys for teenagers..
Just call customer service and they would patch you through another customer service that handles high end phone like the Vertu and the 8800 series phone. Sorry for the miss inform version of the software. The latest version is 3.78v.
As for the other question, as I said before this phone is for people who can afford to buy it and have some extra cash to spend. I reallt don't know how much you guys paid for your, but I paid $350 for mine including a brand new service from T-Mobile in the US.
In the end as I said before is a classic phone.
8800 bulshit .!. with the price of this phone u can buy 2 or 3 phones with more & more many feature than 8800 and make piss on this !!!!!!!! lol. take a k 750i sagem x 6-2 / d600 and the list can go on ............. l know somebody who buy 8800 (me) and now l really deep regret so do not do te same !!!!!! the max price for this phone l'd say 300e but so is too much !!!!!
there is nothing to say about the 8801 because that phone is only released in us not in uk here i think 8800 is 690pound and i advise tombow to enjoy the phone not to compare it with 8801.tombow if u have read my msg then in your comment write my name and tell am i wright ! i have a lot f knowledge about nokia mobile phones .dont worry about the gsm
Best phone ever.... i would't trade this phone for nothing, not even a vertu phone
Even thought the 8800 and 8801 are the same the only difference it that the US version have 850 Mhz instead of 900 Mhz it still an iternational phone. Because if you go to GSM Association they use all 4 Freq. Like the 850,900,1800,1900, and UTMS 2100 for 3G.
As for the other question, even thought this phone is expensive I see this phone to be a classic design among any other phone out there. For me I like classic phone because it would never get out style and they live on forever. like a black and white tuxedo.
