thank you andy O for your useful, detailed and well explained post. This is what this site is for... good comments bad comments and opinions... I wish Ty would go onto an internet chatroom and live out his fanatsies there... this is a site about MOBILE PHONES not your life...
well going against the grain but there horrible battery life is pants the menu is straight out the 6230i and trying to use some of the bottom keys is a pain when sending a txt. not worth the money, dont even think they look that good!!!!
Re: Nice phone, shame about features, Vodafone stop selling?!
Well what can I sayÖ. I really wanted this phone, not because of the functions, but just because it is simple and looks amazing. I donít use the functions such as a radio, mp3 player camera etc, so this phone was perfect for me.
However I received the phone the other day on vodafone, and while I was impressed with the quality of build, the looks, the simpleness of the phone, it just didnít hold up on its basic functions!
The main problems I found where,
The ear volume is a massive problem. You have to turn it up to full volume to hear someone perfectly, which then causes distortion. And when you having a conversation this is very annoying, as u canít hear what they are saying due to audio distortion. A real pain.
The other problem I found like a lot of other people is the battery life! Firstly I like to say I charged the phone for 10 hours the first time it, trying to condition the life on it. But when I made two phone calls at about 5 mins in duration each, after a nights charging, I lost all battery to one bar!!!!!!!!! That is the worst battery life I have ever seen. Maybe if I gave it a few weeks to condition it may have improved, but who knows!
The keys are close together, but u do get used to it. After 24 hours I was used to it, but still found that using the star key was the worst, because it is trapped in the corner and I text with my right fingers.
So I decided that after paying a bit of money for it, it was not worth my while. I called vodafone and cancelled it who where very helpful and they did tell me that the batch of phones my came from was the last batch vodafone where getting due to so many different problems, returns and value for money! So not sure whatís going to happen there now!
To sum up itís a wicked phone, looks amazing and feels great. It does not have all the latest functions, but if youíre like me u donít want them. Its been marketed to people who donít want the functions, so I cant fault it there. But the simple functions it should hold (ESP for businessmen etc who may call a lot of people), it fails in its operation.
Anyhow thatís all from me. If u like to know more, write a comment and I get in touch with my email address.
I think we can conclude then that with this phone you have a stunning looking phone which you're swopping for less functionality
Thats cool if its what you're looking for. The simplicity and slick style of the phone is what Nokia are marketing it on.
Think of it as choosing between a lady with great assets but not so much grey matter or a digestive biscuit lady with a mind like einstein, your choice!
who needs infra-red though? if you've got inbuilt bluetooth, or a dongle, with your computer then this phone actually works incredibly well.
i've got one of these and to be honest, i don't care about the camera resolution, the lack of mp3 facilities, or anything else that people will complain about. the fact is that barely anyone has this, it's absolutely incredible to look at - just like a rolex, or other piece of eye candy. certain essential functionality like battery life or speaker volume hasn't at all been a problem for me, so i wouldn't swap it for any other phone.
crap phone, seeing that it's surpose to be a replacement for the even crapier Nokia 8910i wich was a excecutive market phone and why "titanium casing",well what does the 8800 offer u?......SVGA camera, i promise you the Ericsson K750i's QUILITY will be better, if noticable with the human eye, all the features are quit standard on the 8800 and most of your entry level models will have the same, so what else will there be to look forward to and to spend that rediculous price....geus what...stainless steel casing...ok if ya want buy it...SONY ERICSSON ROCKS.....
very very poor quality phone very upset with the speaker volume and would not reccomend this phone although it looks great.
Hello fan of 8800,
Nokia release the phone with a fixed memory and i read that every1 is complaining abt that. Well i heard that in some european country like germany, france, ect.., that it is able to make place to add an mmc. Any1 try it ?
The speaker volume can be adjusted when in use by pressing the "left and right" arrow keys. Same goes when on earpiece/speaker etc. Hope that makes sense.
Why you being silly and running for a MP camera, tell me how many times you use a camera in phone still with a 2MP cam-phone you can't take a professional level picture. I don't know why people wants all junks in a phone set??? If you can't afford it then don't try to make any useless reasons and pretend it.
this phone is bad...
it doesnt even have a mega pixel.. no wonder y is it too expensive..
I really like this phone when i seen this phone this phone was attracting me so much and i bought it yes it is too expensive but it is worthable.
I had my new car delivered to the Hospital today. It looks great and drives even better! The aftermarket companmy in Santa Monica did a great job on making the docking station for the 8800 look like it was factory BMW. I can raise and lower the screen with no difficulty.
I had a quick stop in Beverly Hills and was able to get the Noika in and out with no problem. Because I had keep the top down, I used the locking feature - perfect! The 645 and the 8800 have a great deal in common. They are both masterpieces!
By the way, I picked up my shoulder harness and ankle sleeve for the 8800 a few days ago. Becasue of the phone's weight I can't recommend the ankle harness. But the shoulder holster is fantastic!!!
U know mate the time of converging the useless stuff is ending in a cell phone, I was found to have multiple features in a single device but after using my Qtek S100 I'm very much disappointed with its performance at all so I think NOKIA still rocks and 8800 is a flagship in the cell phone industry ;-)
Coz the battery life is always critical to the electric gadgets but if you start using cell phone for other Ėve purposes then the battery drain like hell so at the end of the day then again you even wonít be able receive a single call, so whatís the point of having all useless stuff in a phone, phone should be just to make calls. If I want to carry music with me then I wonít mind to buy an iPod nano ;-)
So far whatever the cell phone you buy but still you canít take any kind of professional pictures (cam lens with 5.1+ MP) not even with N90 coz you simple donít have a proper digital zoom as you have in digital cams and all other features to make a picture perfect. NOKIA really done very well on 8800 coz you can see no one done this kind of job but if you still think 8800 is useless then plz go and get a plastic piece of phone, get it hurry & donít get late.
My remarks are negative because in my opinion the phone is not good. Why would I give positive remarks if there is nothing positive to say about it?
Im a Nokia fan but stil I do give the SE W800
positive feedback because it is good. But unfortunately the 8800 is not good enough to
recieve any positive feedback from me.
got this phone after a lengthy delay..
first impressions.. i love it..was a bit skeptical about the look from the online pictures thought my old 8910i looked better, but in real life this phone looks awesome.. battery life was poor on the first charge, however gave 8hr+ charges on the second and third charges and the battery lasts a lot longer. my biggest concern is dust at the moment as my 8910i used to live in my pocket in no case and would come out dusty . i have already noticed some dust in joints, but any phone that lives in your pocket is prone to this. I use the suede like case that it comes with in my pocket. so far it hasnt been to annoying gettin it out of it when the phone rings but time will tell i suppose. It also cleans the fingerprints off it at the same time.my 8910i i used to take to nokia care centre to get a clean and the slider contacts cleaned once every year or so..so will prob do it with this phone. The volume of the speaker in the headset should be louder..cannot see where to increase this in the menu options. bluetooth quality in nokia carkit is great, would reccommend you use nokia approved carkits as have found other non nokia phones that synch with the nokia carkit have an echo. disapointed that the custom ringtones by Ryuicho sakamoto are not full length...only go for around 20 seconds. those people who have heard it love the tones..
Does anyone know how many messages the nokia 8800 can store?
