the 8800 is one of the most highly antisipated releases by nokia for 2005 little hope is now held up the release of the N series. the 8800 is all looks no features. little common sence was put into the the development of the moving parts in the phone leaving small gaps the the casing for dust and all sorts of stuff to get into the phone. congratulations Nokia this phone will be sure to cause a few customer complaints.
Pointless & Overpriced. Looks Good Though. Better off with 6680 or n90/n91 despite the size the functionality is superior.
Take it from people in the business
My friend just got this phone, i am very disapointed, thsi phone looks all nice in pictures, but real life it sucks as hell... the batery life is very very bad i heard, and the graphics are just like any other nokia, it might be a nice phone, but is not worth the money
Hey Rune - I went through your past posts... all negative. It's no wonder you're down on anyone who likes the 8800.
I think the Nokia 8800 is awesome. And hey man, if Ty's posts bug you don't read them - I think he's got it together. I just wish I had some of his bread!
designed for the senses; yes. but one of those is common sense. if you can't work out how to slide up the phone, well...
the battery compartment isn't too easy to get to but it never takes me more than 15 seconds to open it up. this is, though, a phone of compeltely solid construction, and you can tell that by looking at it, from a distance and close up.
this phone won't be everyone's cup of tea, but to me this is my cup of tea, biscuits and cake.
After seeing the advertisement i thought i should use this phone, but the phone is an absolute disaster.I think nokia has seriously tried in making a slider phone but have failed. If you open the battery cover it will take hours to fix it.You will need to search for an hour to find out how to slide up the phone.Only the steel case loks good but is not very attractve. Is it designed for senses??Not worth the money. Samsung and and to an extent panasonic have made good slider phones.
Forgot to add - no more expensive phones for the little one. Between the one destroyed in her backpack and the subsitute 8800 that I sent her to school with (and that she gave away), I have learned my lesson. No more expensive phones until she's older. Thise of you that are parents may want to heed my warning.
A Proud Father:
The most amazing thing happened today. My daughter - who left on Monday for boarding school in Vermont - called and told me she had donated to the Hurrican Relief effort. The children gave money, supplies, food, clothes, toys, etc.
Anyway, she proudly told me she gave away her iPod and her Nokia 8800! I was very upset with her until I realized Zoe - even at her young age - knows what is important in life. It's not material things but what's in your heart!!!
If you see a photo of one of the refugees using the 8800 think of Zoe - I'm sure it was hers.
I know it sounds corny but - I hope all of you will take a moment to appreciate life.
We are, indeed, lucky.
i dont think anyone here is afraid of success. they're much more likely to be afraid of becoming as egoistic, materialistic, and trivial as Ty, lord of enlightening feedback. 8800 - great phone!
i think purchase of this cell phone is no better than simply waste of money...it has very little functions, not even a mega pixel camera;but it's price is $999 !!!shame for nokia...
i'm theo,not ty.again,read my comments.why i have to make a story,for waht.again,fly to bangkok,give me a call,and i bring u to the shop.again,if u don't know the prices here for working people,u better say nothing.
Oh right, now I remember the shop you're talking about - the
"One Hour We Paint Nokia Cell Phones" shop.
You think we believe someone is going to remove the casing, the glass screen, recoat the shell, paint it with special paint, and reassemble it with specialized Nokia tools for $25.00. Yeah, right, buddy!!!
read my last 2 comments, and u know all the details.this shops do not have online service, because they even don't speak english
if u need to repaire ur phone, wath do u think it will happen?they will take it apart.so,waths the problem.u think only nokia can take apart ther phones?
Hey Theo, what a story! You think we're idiots? Dude, you can't just take apart the 8800 paint it and put it back toether. And even if you could the cost would be nuts!
Are you and that Ty guy the same person?
concerning the "piano black" nokia 8800, I have been awaiting news of this for quite some time. However, even the Nokia website has no news of this color. Now, please do not take offense to my inquiry, I am honestly curious and of course want one all for myself, however, without news of it on even the company website, I am quite at a loss as to where and when I can get it. Does this store in Bangkok do online orders? Credit card of course, just wondering if you could provide info for the rest of us. Thanks in advance.
so,any questions?beside,if someone is interesstet in one,i know u all paying more then we are here in bangkok, send me a mail at: firstname.lastname@example.org PS;i'm not from thailand, only lifeing here,i'm from switzerland,so no problems if u contact me in english, german, italien, spanish or france.
ok,u see, this is bangkok.there is a shopingmall called the mbk.in there,u have about 300 shops, only selling phones.all of this shops geting the phones from somewhere.don't ask me from where.so,the nokia 8800 costs here 750 usd.this shops giveing u a warantee, not a nokia one,one from the shop, thats why it's so cheap.now,u don't need the nokia warantee, means,u can breake the warantee seal.then,u go to another shop, they will remove the body from ur nokia 8800.after,u go to the next shop, all in the same place.this shop will make u a perfect painting job,in shiny piano black, incl a sheeld.then u go back to the 2.nd shop,he will fix the body to the phone, and then u have a nokia 8800 in piano black!!! it looks just same it comes original from nokia.costs of all 25 usd! so,u then have a piano black nokia 8800 for 775 usd, incl 1 year warantee from the shop, and believe me,the warantee from this shop is better and quicker then nokia itself.well, done deal,u have the phone of ur dreams.
its not worth a second look.tempting to buy.but i got bored with it and went back to my k700 in 4 days
