HMD is taking forever with the Nokia 9, so here are some 5K renders and a 360° video to make the wait a little bit easier. They were created by @OnLeans and 91Mobiles who have a good track record of accuracy when it come to the designs of upcoming phones.
And yet it’s still hard to believe – a phone with 5 cameras on the back. At the start of 2018 the most rear cameras a phone could have was 2, but we’re up to 4 now.
We don’t know what setup HMD is going for, but there’s a conspicuous absence of a PureView branding (it wasn’t on the prototype either). The Zeiss label is nestled between the cameras, though.
There’s no fingerprint reader on the back, instead there’s one built into the display – a 5.9” panel with QHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. There’s just a single camera above it (and thankfully not in a notch).
The Nokia 9 carries over some design choices from the 8 Sirocco – namely, no 3.5mm headphone jack, just a USB-C port for everything. The back is made of glass to support wireless charging. The battery capacity is reportedly 4,150mAh.
The phone measures 155 x 75 x 7.9mm and should have some level of dust and water resistance (the Sirocco has IP67). There are three mics located on the exterior of the phone.
All of this is painting the picture of the perfect phone, but the chipset is a small blemish – it’s expected to be a Snapdragon 845 (with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage). The Nokia 9 has been in development for a long time and (like the Pixels) will use the chip that’s nearly a year old now.
Of course, the Pixel’s best feature is its camera, which relies on a AI co-processor – computational photography is the must-have feature this year. And with 5 cameras, the Nokia 9 is better-suited for that than most. That’s why we expected to see the rebirth of PureView, which was about intelligent image processing from day 1.
If it is a flagship it must need an amoled screen
It doesn't matter that Motorola, Sharp and Essential Phone made first notch and chin design. NOTCH INSANE STUPID FEVER STARTED ONLY WHEN APPLE PRESENTED IPHONE X. Until then, nobody cares to copy the Notch and Chin from Sharp and Essential Phone. Mor...
